So, it's been told that first person writing is not allowed on wiki articles
. And now we have an Administrivia page for First-Person Writing providing further details.
The huge undertaking for this is that first person entries are rampant out there; more in Fridge, Headscratchers, WMG, and Gush articles. A lot of them are very old, and there is no absolute idea on who wrote it. It gets worse that it's written on thread mode aagreeing or disagreeing on that paragraph, using "This troper...", and in troper tales format.
So, it goes without saying that this is an opportunity to start a cleanup for first person writing in wiki articles.
Such cleanup will need the following recommendations:
- DMOS threads get a pass, as long as they have signatures written.
- Do not use signatures in speculative pages.
- When removing first person entries outside of quotations, reword the entry while keeping the original meaning.
- Remove an entry if it's mainly on troper tales.
To spread awareness to this thread, consider the following:
- Check the page's history;
- Track down every troper who used first person writing;
- Check their edit history;
- If they had any recent activity of at least 4-6 weeks, contact them that they had used first person writing of said page, and link them to this thread.

Also, I found out on the PM Issue Helper that there's no more mention of "this troper" in the list of issues. I have asked that on the ATT and the Wishlist.

I'd like to suggest Western Animation.Chaotic and its subpages needing cleaning up, it's got "This troper" stuff along with other things from the early days of TV tropes and needs some serious adjustments.
I'd put this on is this an example too but I think there's too many to list

Funny.Chaotic did have one case of first person writing the other day, I removed it. It was the only case I came across, however.

Whew! Just found this thread and...
Manga.High School Exciting Story Tough have a few entries that goes into thread mode, notably under I Just Want to Be Special, Hidden Depths, Insane Troll Logic, The Only One Allowed to Defeat You, Jerk with a Heart of Gold, and a few others.
Also, lack of punctuations and full-stops at the end of sentences.
I've never read the Manga, so anyone familiar with it...

So, out of curiosity I was searching for "this troper" on YMMV pages through the search bar, and I found a number of these from the first page. I would assume there would be more, coming from the second page.
I have since edited the YMMV pages from the 1st page of the search results.

The Real Life folder of Ironic Nursery Tune has a few examples of first-person writing:
- It should be noted (as any camp counselor will verify) that kids love dark humour and slightly gory songs. Classic camp songs/rhymes as examples (notable lyrics in brackets) include Sgt. Billy Madison (he jumped from 40 000 ft, forgot to pull the chute. SPLAT!), Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts (and I forgot my spoon!), The Titanic (All the husbands and wives, little children lost their lives, it was sad when the great ship went down), and The Shark Song (and all was red, 'cause they were dead). Also note that each one of those and others (and there are so many others) are sung with a happy, upbeat tune.
- In Girl Scouts (a wholesome, Christian organization), we used to sing a different shark song about losing your leg in a shark attack, dying due to blood loss, and finding out you're going to hell. Really gets the spirits up for a week of camping.
- This seems as international tract, because among Polish Scouts we have, for example, play-song when we sing something like (loosely translated):
Old Abraham have 7 sons;7 sons have old Abraham;And they sit down and eat old men;And sing like that:Right arm, left arm;Right leg, left leg;And head too, and rest body too;
Note that "We" is the first person plural form of "I."
- We can't forget this little gem, which has been taught to kids as recent as the 80s. I remember reading it and wondering why we're supposed to dislike the subject character.

I have made a partial cleanup of the description of Canada Eh. I have replaced "I" with "We Canucks" to make things clear despite the fact that "we" is simply the plural form of "I."
