...I think we have a duplicate trope here. Portal Door appears to be "Cool Gate except it doesn't have to look cool", whereas Cool Gate already specifies that all gates are cool and it doesn't matter how they look.
Both are teleportation portals; I see no actual difference here, and quite some overlap in examples as well.
Keep and TRS.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!- There's some artistic thing with a Cool Gate being an actual regular door, instead of a Stonehenge or Mirror or something...
I'd say to keep it, but I see what you mean.

I'll get something from Duck Life 3 (the Flash game) as well, hopefully by tomorrow at least (it is from a less overused source).
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)What would this kind of opening be called?

This is definitely a duplicate trope.
I would prefer to keep Portal Door for having a briefer and more focused description as well as a much better name. They both have a similar number of wicks (417 for Portal Door, 510 for Cool Gate). However, this should be brought to the TRS.
So is there any point in selecting an image for Portal Door before knowing what's to become of this page?
- Thinking Up Portals portals.
There's likely a trope about seeing vs. not seeing the destination.

I think it's fairly doorlike, though they definitely show the portal aspect, plus they're concise and from a unique source. Of course, the TRS will help, these are provisory.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Clock is set.
We all agree that the current picture should go, right?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576I'm not seeing a lot of actual votes on whether or not to pull the current.
I don't think current is that bad, actually, it fits the trope. Pretty much *all* of the replacement suggestions here are much less illustrative than the current.
Trope needs it to be an actual door.
A henge isn't a door.
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576I think people are misreading the disambiguation line. This trope does not have to be a literal door. The Lonely Door does. That one line is just confusingly written.
Current is fine, it demonstrates the flexibility.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSo, this is just any plain old Portal, and a Sub-Trope is Thinking Up Portals?
Should we rewrite the description then? If so, to what?
Remove the multiple uses of "Door"?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576This appears to be a duplicate trope, as suggested earlier in the thread.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!- Well, if this can't be rehabilitated to "Doors as portals", then I'm fine with cutting it as a dupe.
Do we need a separate TRS thread to decide that?

Resurrecting thread per TRS and closing statement here.

The picture isn't a door, it's just a Cool Gate, not an actual door, that people walk through normally.
