As a matter of editing etiquette: is it necessary to forewarn tropers that a page is to be moved due to this policy? If yes, how?

Not really, anyone who looks up these pages would hit a redirect anyway, and they can ask around if they don't know why it's changed. You can still leave a note at the Discussion tab before the move to notify the editors who follow the work page.

On the One Piece character pages, should we consider using the Viz or Funimation translations for the Devil Fruits (especially the Zoan types)?

Funimation's dub came after Viz started localizing the volumes, right?

I think TV Tropes stance is the most recent translation.

But since the manga is an ongoing work, Viz is still putting out volumes, aren't they? Therefore neither is the most recent. However, since the manga is the original work, I'd go with the manga translations.

Basically my stance.

I agree; when neither translation is more recent, go with the original medium.

The Idhún's Memories -> The Idhun Chronicles (The Idhun's Memories isn't even an official translation)

I have a question about Super Mario Bros. Manga Mania: Since the Hirokazu Hikawa Kirby compilation releases were given the name Kirby Manga Mania by Viz the same way they did for the Mario manga, does that mean Manga Mania counts more as a sub-brand for those kind of video game manga compilations, or would we still count them as the official title?

It does seem to be a consistent brand, but why would that mean it isn't the official title?

For the series overall, I mean, rather than referring to just the best-of compilations.

I think that would be fine.

~scr1pp3d asks to cut Extreme Football in favor of Foot 2 Rue Extreme, but to my understanding "Extreme Footbal" is the English name and we should stick to that instead.

In addition, Foot 2 Rue says it's localized as Street Football, as far as I know it should be swapped with its redirect.

Okay, so I'm keeping Extreme Football , should Foot 2 Rue Extreme be added to the Cut List or should I redirect it?

I think Foot 2 Rue Extreme would be better as redirect if it's a local name, somebody off the site may search for it anyway. For the record, international releases take priority, it applies to character names as well if they're changed.

Omitted subtitles are common enough. This is one of them.

Omitted subtitles are fine as long as they don't cause subpage collisions or other issues.

Mahou Tsukai no Yoru is confirmed to getting an English translation, with "Witch on the Holy Night" being used for the English announcements. However, "Witch on the Holy Night" is the subtitle of Mahoyo, seemingly as an official translation. So should the name be changed or kept as it is? Or at least wait until official English title is shown?

If there's a chance it may be different, there's no point rushing it.

Returning to what was said a few posts back, it would be nice if we actually had a definition for "most recent translation." I know that this is treading old ground, but we never actually came up with a consistent answer. There are many cases where multiple translations can be argued to be the "most recent" so nothing actually gets solved.

To give a general example, it's fairly common for translations of anime to differ from the manga even while the manga is still ongoing, resulting in two (or three if the sub and dub differ) "competing" translations.
