I mean if I were a superstar singer/actor, and somebody came to me and was all "Hey, we think we can sell a superhero movie off you on name alone, pick whatever character you want!" I'd probably pick some total ancillary character I like, too. Like Hemingway, the man with a design so utterly '90s EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEM! that it wraps back around to honestly pretty cool.

Makes me wonder how hard would it be to convince DC to make a Space Cabbie movie...
Wake me up at your own risk.I guess just have a popular celebrity say he wants to play him
Considering who's now in charge of DC Films, that probably wouldn't be difficult actually. Even without a celebrity wanting it.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks Marathonwell if there's a director I can believe could make a space cabie movie work that would definetly be james gunn.
From what I've heard, Sony gave Bad Bunny a list of characters to choose from and he picked El Muerto.
Bad Bunny is a noted huge wrestling fan. It would not surprise me if they just looked up "spider-man villain + wrestler" on the Marvel wiki or something, found El Muerto, and said "yeah do that one."
Like it's very telling that none of the Tarantulas came up, not even Black Tarantula who actually has a pseudo-evil-luchador vibe to him. And I suspect they never came up because none of the characters are actually wrestlers and they just got completely missed.
I just saw on the trivia page on the main site that Kraven has been pushed back to August 2024 because of the Strikes. Which seems a crazy huge delay, I assumed it was basically done by this point.
(Though they would want to delay until after the strike to get the actor's doing publicity I know. )
Rewatched the two Venom movies and gosh I love them so much. It's a crying shame Sony hasn't been able to recreate that tone in other movies but it really does sound like Tom Hardy is the driving force of those films being what they are.
I also know in my heart of hearts that Andrew Garfield's Spiderman's comedic chops would work excellent as a foil to Eddie and Venom but we're unlikely to see that because Disney-Sony want to so a Tom Holland Venom story at some point if the end of No Way Home is to be believed.
It's a shame because it'd be so easy to just say that Venom tak s place alongside the Amazing Spiderman films. But Don't really wants to both ape and ride the coattails of the MCU.
#IceBearForPresidentI liked Morbius as an amusing throwback to dark 90s superhero movies. Can't say it was a winner by any stretch of the imagination though.
Kraven shows a fair amount of promise.
I've been Kraving this movie my whole life.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. It's kraven time.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Uh-oh… It's starting again. Haha.
I think having him be more outright morally sketchy than Morbius—who managed to still be that too despite probably being softened—is again, something that benefits it—and the likely R rating shows not playing it safe either (though again, surprising what both Let There Be Carnage and The Batman each got away with for PG-13–especially the latter).
Got ideas for what a Doc Ock movie could do. And again, you probably wouldn't have to change his character all that much either—a brilliant and morally dubious mastermind initiating criminal activity For Science! while having standards as well.

The question is can the memetic nature of Morbius be repeated with Kraven? The former was really weird: everyone decided that this was the box office bomb to make up stuff about because the title sounded funny. Do we think the momentum of not seeing the film and meming on it can be continued for Kraven?
Honestly if it did lean into the Venom style Ham and Cheese So Bad, It's Good I could see it going over well. If it's bland like Morbius was (with Matt Smith the only person who knows what film he's in) than It ain't succeeding.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Madame Web a straightforward hero? That'll be different to say the least as they're not taking a previously villainous character and making them less so in that one.
Wait, the Madame Web in the movie is the first one, the Old Master from the comic? That is different; thought for sure it had to be the second.
She's definitely not the old version of the character, seeing as she's played by Dakota Johnson, but she is the Cassandra Webb version.
The second Madame Web was Julia Carpenter, who will also be in the movie (played by Sydney Sweeny).
An update on El Muerto, provided by VanityFair in a lengthy interview with Bad Bunny (Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio):
Surprised this film almost got made.
Mileena Madness"Almost" is doing a loooooooooooooooot of heavy lifting in that sentence.

Ironically, the spider is reportedly non-venomous, so you don't have to worry about going through a delirious phase of Eminem music if bitten.
Yeah, this guy sounds perfect.
