Saw it, and I'd say everything was pretty exceptional. That said, the action was... just OK, which isn't optimal when the entire last third is an action sequence.
It's not even that it was bad action per se, but it wasn't really interestingly framed or shot, and the sins are just personality-free monsters. I think it's the correct take that you can't tell who's who at a glance because the film never takes a moment to actually establish them. They don't seem to fight, act or even speak in ways befitting their supposed personalities, which makes them blur together. I don't think I even noticed there were only six for a while.
The human story at the core of the film is pretty much dead on, but the sins were a missed opportunity. I think I was tuning out slightly for some of the action beats.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI was so excited for that caterpillar.
Welcome to the movies, Mr. Mind. Looking forward to seeing what ridiculous characters you bring with you.
Banjo: They call me Mr. Banjo.
Billy: Are you...seriously gonna fight me, with...with your music?
Just saw this movie and I loved it! It is such a fantastic comedy film and I hope it does well in theaters!
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!I am so glad they're making a sequel! That Sequel Hook is too good not to build on. I also hope to see Billy (seriously, what are we calling his superhero persona in this universe?) in a future Avengers-style team-up movie. I'd say Justice League II but I don't know if they're still doing that.
Also, I'm seeing the movie again tomorrow with a friend who hasn't seen it yet.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Just saw it. I found it to be highly enjoyable, with the one issue I have being a case of Ending Fatigue (seriously, that climax just went on and on).
Just saw it. I think this is my favorite DCEU film next to Wonder Woman. Kinda of strange this didn't come out near Christmas considering the movie takes place in December, did Aquaman and Shazam switch places on the release calendar or something?
And re: last page, that aside from Pedro was most likely alluding to the fact that he is gay, even the director pointed it out. I can't wait for society to progress enough so there's no "is he or isn't he" vagueness anymore.

There was probably CGI it had to finish. There are loads of movies set during Christmas that don't actually come out during Christmas — for instance, Iron Man 3 (released in May).
Movie Dates are picked often years ahead. Shazam wasn't pushed back a few months. It was deliberately released then. Shazam's release date was known as far back a January 2018.
Generally Studios pick dates based on what other studios pick and what themselves they have in store. Last Holiday was the release of Aquaman. Warner Bros didn't want to competition with themselves. Furthermore Sony was also releasing a Spider-Man movie, and Paramount had Bumblebee. Aquaman had obviously been in production the longest of the two, so it releasing first makes sense.

I'm so happy that Shazam is getting a sequel! Maybe with the Rock being Black Adam in the movie, it would help the sequel make even more money than the first movie! Although, I don't understand why Warner Bros released this movie between Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. They should have known that they were going to crush ''Shazam! in the box office.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!It has three weeks of lull to make money, and the budget for Shazam was comparatively small, $90 million. They didn’t have to have a two month exclusivity window.
The Rock one again playing an ancient Egyptian warrior.
E.T technically is a Isekai movieShazam is in essence a Power Rangers movie. Heck, I feel like the two bullies are straight up Bulk and Skull.
I imagine if they decide to make a sequel to the Justice League. The Shazam brothers (except Billy) could fight the generals, while the adults and Billy are going to fight Darkseid.

Watch me destroying my countryI watched the movie. And I got to say that Sivana and the 7 Deadly Sins were really terrifying villains in contrast with the light heartedness of the rest of the movie, especially that scene in the boardroom
I'm not generally the biggest DC Comics fan, and I'm definitely feeling a bit of cape fatigue, but damn if this wasn't the most fun I've had in a theater in a long time. What a great movie this was. It was fun, a little creepy, touching, and hilarious. There's a magic to it that I haven't found in most superhero films since the "football in the sky" scene in Chronicle.
They really shined

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?
Well this was pretty much a perfect adapptation of the New 52 Shazam. And I loved it! New favorite DCEU movie.
Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianWow, I liked this a lot. I especially liked the depiction of an adoptive/foster family as, well, something that wasn't "pedophiles trawling for victims." Also is it just me, or did the movie combine Sivana and Black Adam?
Well, the Rock has already been cast as Black Adam in an upcoming movie, and I'm pretty sure he was the original champion who turned evil that Shazam spoke about.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Anyone else feel weirdly bad for Sivana's father and brother? Yes they were jerks, and probably involved in sleazy corporate... stuff, but I don't think anyone short of perhaps the most repressive dictators and most depraved serial killers deserves... that.
Just saw this.
Liked all of the Billy side of the movie. The Big stuff. Testing his powers. There needed to be a lot more material with the foster kids really.
The Sivana stuff kind of turns Sivana into a generic villain. And it turns the Seven Deadly Sins into generic monsters. I’d’ve expected them to be spreading their sin in the populace and making people act like d-bags but they just killed people. And really only the boardroom people. They got pretty inept at killing outside of that.
It felt like a waste of both Sivana and the Sins.
I like that Billy had to assemble the Shazamily to beat the villain and I like that this Sivana’s live-in sin was Envy
Also I think the wisdom of Solomon must be on the fritz. Mary didn’t get a power focus scene and Billy practically never demonstrated any kind of super or even moderate wisdom. He pretty dumb.

Forever liveblogging the Avengers
Billy does point out that he knows what it's liked to be rejected from your family, but that while Sivana decided to seek revenge, Billy decided to embrace a new family.
