This seems like a legit trope but it only accrued four examples over the years. I vote sending it back to TLP, looking for a better trope name to boot.

Any more votes for sending this back to TLP?

It is an example of #29 from The Thirty-Six Stratagems:

树上开花 Deck the Tree with False Blossoms: Through the use of artifice and disguise, make something of no value appear valuable; of no threat appear dangerous; of no use appear useful.
Send it back to TLP so the description and examples can be properly expanded.

Make that 7:0. You can probably call it.

OK, consensus is in favour of sending back. Make it so!

During unwicking I found Backup Bluff. So do we have this as a trope already?

That page seems to have two strong ideas that are similar.

  1. Lie to your enemy's face, telling them that you have additional allies.
  2. Create the illusion of a larger force, using physical trickery.
I believe this trope is supposed to be definition #2, and I'm not sure that definition #1 should be the same page.

I created the draft. I'm mildly interested in keeping an eye on it, and depending on how long it takes to improve the description and number of examples, I may launch it this month.
