Yeah, pull.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportYeah, that's pure J 2 FAAC.
Pull.
(Annoyed grunt)Pull as J2FAAC.
Keet cleanupHuh, I thought the examples section would be more inspirational regarding potential replacements, but alas.
Anyway, pull.
It's gone and the page is tagged for this thread.
I'm not sure that this is any better, but I thought I'd toss it out there.
Better, but only a little. The wings make it clearer that she's magic than the tattoo did in the old pic.
Well, the Fantastic Beasts movie had a kiss scene between Jacob and Queenie where Queenie had her wand out to cast an umbrella spell. That could work but I'm having trouble finding a good still image of that scene.
That's better than nothing, I think.

Found a good one. It's from Ben 10. Max and Verdona. Ordinary human man and magical alien woman kissing. I also found a lot of other images that portrayed the essence of the trope, but they were fanart.
Edit: Didn't realise you can't hotlink images here.

That looks more Interspecies Romance than this.
The W.I.T.C.H. image is marginally better than nothing, but I'd prefer an image with actual magicking.

Okay, if that won't work, then it looks like we're out of options unless you want to use fanart. Found a lot of fanarts depicting the trope's essence, particularly the kiss scene from the Fantastic Beasts movie, but I was hoping for something straight from the source.
The Jacob and Queenie kissing scene does not work well.
Alternative suggestions: Or as a last resort: fanart◊Edited by eroock on Oct 14th 2018 at 5:12:51 PM
I like the Sabrina pic, although it's a bit light on the 'romance'. The broomstick and flight makes her obviously a witch, and the guy's dialogue marks him as a muggle. Jeannie looks more like a girl in costume.

I'm fine with fanart, though it's my understanding that we need permission first? Hence why I didn't bother linking the good ones I found.
I find the fanart the most illustrative. Not sure on the other suggestions.
Spiral out, keep going.^^^ FWIW, I added a panel to the Sabrina pic to strengthen the romantic aspect.
I should probably note that there's also a separate trope for Magical Girlfriend.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"^ That leaves us with this gender-swapped example
Running a few google searches, I came across the anime Witchcraft Works, which seems like could have some good stuff in it. The best one I found was this uncropped version of the volume 1 cover art.
Cropped versions of this◊ or this◊ could work too, just for the sake of showing various options. But I don't think they're nearly as good.

I read that manga. The guy has his own magic. The girl is just better enough at it to be his teacher.
The poster looks good. The woman doesn't have her own magic does she?

The current image lacks the "mage" part of the trope. It's vaguely implied by the tattoo on his face, but by itself it doesn't mean anything. It could be tribal, ritualistic, a status symbol, etc. It needs to show him casting a spell or something, because this is pure JAFAAC.
