There are countless images across the wiki that — while they look fine with the normal display — contrast badly with Night Vision's color scheme. The purpose of this thread is to weed these images out by replacing them with either transparent versions, or sometimes just a higher-quality version.
What causes an image to contrast most often is that it has an unnecessary, blank white background. A good example is the former image for Orbot & Cubot◊ on the character subpage for Sonic The Hedgehog, which has since been swapped out for a transparent version◊.
Another cause is when the image in question is already transparent, but it wasn't cut out properly and now has an unsightly artifact of its background around it. For example, the former image◊ for Studio Ghibli, which has also been replaced with a cleaner version◊.
These details are basically impossible to notice on the normal display's white background, and since not everyone uses Night Vision regularly, a lot of these images sneak through. Please keep Night Vision in mind when suggesting or uploading any new image for use on a page.
To tell if an image needs replacing, just switch on Night Vision (if you don't already have it enabled) and see if the image has either of the two problems detailed above. If it does, then either add it to this index and report it here so someone can replace it or, if you are able to, go ahead and replace the image yourself. You don't need to ask for permission; image quality upgrades are a free action. You are not obligated to report any upgrades you made here, but that would be appreciated, since that would help this thread get traffic.
Please note that not every image with a white background will need to be replaced. In some cases the white background is as much a part of the image as any other detail. Take for instance, the page image◊ for The Lost Room. Other examples, like any page that uses a panel from a black-and-white comic or manga, such as the current image◊ for Heroic Resolve, should also be okay (unless the background takes up a unusual amount of space, then it will probably just need to be cropped). If you are unsure if an image should be replaced, bring it up here.

So I've been replacing many images on various Ys pages and I've encountered a problem on both on Characters.Ys Memories Of Celceta and Characters.Ys VIII Lacrimosa Of Dana. Almost all of the images have a white background and I don't have the means to make them transparent. So if anyone can help me make the all the images transparent on those pages, That is much appreaciated.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/A~Willbyr I'll give it a shot since CompletelyNormalGuy hasn't.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThe body and sword look really good but there's details in the right wing that are either missing or overcompensated. I may go with it anyway.
I may correct it later because as I've said white details on a white background are difficult to deal with. And I may have used an image that is brighter because I've instinctively assumed the above reference is in 350.

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupLooks like a substantial chunk of the right wing was cut off. I'll see what I can do with it.
For images with this little contrast, none of the automated tools I've found are up to the task (if anyone knows of a tool that is up to the task, please let me know). My go-to method is to turn down the tolerance of the paint.net magic wand tool until it's not selecting any of the actual image, then clean up the edges by hand. And, when I'm cleaning things up by hand, I like to add a temporary black background on a separate layer so that I can tell at a glance that I'm not missing anything. It's a fairly time-intensive method, and something I'd prefer not to do until more automated methods have failed (and I'd definitely prefer to avoid it for images that might not actually end up on the page), but sometimes it's the only thing that works.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.I haven't bothered shrinking it to wiki-size yet because I want to make sure it looks right. It ended up being easier to just redraw parts of the right wing than to get the computer to not erase anything I didn't want gone.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.
That's fine, thanks for making the effort.
So like I said I couple times before, Characters.Ys needs a lot images replaced with transparent ones, so I'll start with the images that need transparent versions on themain page itself.

How's this?
I Google Image Search these to see if there are version in higher resolution because that makes things easier, though the composition on the photo may differ.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI’m on my phone and it looks perfect so I’d say it’s good enough. Thanks!
Update on Touhou LostWord: Main Story: I was lucky enough to find a fixed version for Kogasa's image on Tumblr. The swap is now done. Now I just need Komachi's fixed.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. The Boys (2019): Godolkin University's main cast of students has stark white backgrounds. I could try removing the backgrounds, or do an IP proposal to use a similar group of photos with a "yearbook" layout (appropriate since it's an educational setting). I'd prefer to do the yearbook swap, because I don't really like live-action actors on transparent backgrounds ahaha.
e.g. for Marie Moreau (I know the transparent current needs to have those white lines removed, but I didn't want to work too hard on it without more opinions :P)

I like the yearbook look.
Got some pics for a character thread that are giving me all kinds of problems with haze artifacts when I use the online transparency tool I normally use.
Thanks in advance!
Here's another one that I was making a mess of trying to fix.
