I'm opening up a thread for a game called Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, a mobile role-playing game that features characters from Wreck It Ralph, The Incredibles and Zootopia, as well as Sulley and Boo.

Yes, this is real and has been soft-launched in beta mode for certain regions since February 24. I hope they add more characters to this.

I play this game, and really like it so far. Really think it deserves a page here on TV Tropes, as I absolutely adore all those easter eggs and Shout-Outs in the game. It's like an inside joke between the player and the developer.

And to you, I say "Giraffe!"

So if anyone's playing this game here, what server are y'all at and how far didja get?

I actually started a couple of playthroughs because stamina in this game is very tight outside of bonus hours and I wanted to try the different free 2* heroes. I paid $8 IAP for my main account, but an F 2 P alt with Jessie caught up easily so that became the only alternate account I'm sticking with. Currently at level 32 and 30, respectively.

My notes on starting heroes and early progression
Here's my take on the free heroes (listed from best):

  • Jessie - Disc-One Nuke. Or way beyond that. Surprisingly tanky (has about the same HP as Ralph!) as a Drain Tank with AOE attack and lifesteal. Stuns and disables destroy her, blue shields stop her life steal. Moderately slow to farm otherwise, but still readily available from Arena. A blue team character.
  • Sulley - Self-healing tank with AOE debuff that benefits magic damage. It's good to have a 2-tank frontline since Ralph (starting hero/tank) can't take a beating meant for 2. Very hard to farm otherwise, since getting the most out of Creep Surge requires a well-coordinated guild. A yellow team character, so you can farm the yellow Trial earlier.
  • Nick - Lemming Rush is great in City Watch. 7 second charm with no level requirement, you don't even have to level up that skill at all, saving money. It'll be a while before you can farm him, otherwise. A yellow team character also.
  • Felix - A tank healer with regen and AOE stun special. Helps Ralph tank. It'll be a while before you can farm him. Felix will make fights his team can handle slow but steady. A blue team member.
  • Mr. Incredible - A tank that pushes the enemy back and has a ridiculous attack speed self buff when low on health. Not recommended as he's on the Red team, and farmable by Chapter 3 Elite which you can easily reach in your first week playing F 2 P.

For new players, I say pick Sulley as starting hero (or Nick/Felix for fans of their series), then farm Jessie through Arena. A bit of a slow start but you won't have to wait for Sulley and you can acquire Jessie in a reasonable time frame. (Alternatively, outright picking Jessie results in very literally stomping enemies with Jessie's kicks through early-mid game. If you do this, farm Judy from Arena as Judy is a buffer who helps Jessie a lot.)

Once City Watch is unlocked, do it until you have a 1* Violet to help out in red Trial, then farm the 3* Mike.

Misc advice:

  • Guild Mercenaries - Tanks not named Ralph are often welcome and hired often. For the best chance to get hired, massively upgrade most of that character's skills. DPS aren't often preferred.
  • Spending Diamonds (premium currency) - Never pay for extra Diamond Crates unless yer some whale. I also don't recommend buying chips using Diamonds from in-game store. Stamina regen is way more valuable especially if you subscribed to daily deals.

Here's a webpage that someone created with detailed information on heroes, badges, and stats, including stuff that still hasn't been released yet.

I was checking its page on the Disney Wiki and noticed Tron was listed as one of the franchises! Awesome!

Does Disney Heroes: Battle Mode have a trope page yet?

When they're not being heartwarming (like the mission chain of Ralph and Vanellope delivering sweets to all sorts of Disney characters), the wide array of Disney references and crossovers in this game are seriously fun. If we had a trope page for this, it would absolutely need its own Mythology Gag / Shout-Out page.

I just got the Friendship one with Frozone where Mr. Incredible talks about going on a date with Helen to what is obviously Tiana's Place. Apparently he ordered frog's legs and Tiana got pissed at him.

This comment explains why it's happening.

"Per Blue is likely practicing some A/B testing across all of these early servers to find out the following stats: average LTV (lifetime value) of players (how much a player spends before quitting) and player retention (how long you play before deleting/abandoning the app).

A good way to test retention is varied amounts of free premium currency to keep players engaged. This explains the varied arena rewards. And a good measure for LTV is the rings. This means they also need a baseline group that does NOT receive rings to compare against the group that does."

So I come back to check out the game after not being caught up with it in a while, and apparently they put Robin Hood into the game?

So, apparently it's been revealed that Kim Possible is going to be in the game? As well as an Inside Out character, but we don't know which one in particular? Where is this information coming from?

The Inside Out character is Anger. Kind of an obvious pick if you ask me.
