Cheese and Chocola, yeah.
Oh God! Natural light!Yikes.
I wonder if the Zombot thing is goign to to be reverted by the end of the arc or setup a new status quo, which mixes something similar with Sat AM or Early Archie comics with a Zombie Apocalypse flavor?

The solicits I've seen for the September issue suggest to me that the Metal Virus arc itself will wrap up by the end of this year. I suppose it's entirely possible that the effects could stick around in some way, though - I've been thinking that maybe this could be use to introduce Bunny somehow? If they're able and willing to bring back the Freedom Fighters, anyway.
Oh God! Natural light!I have read the issue, and having been one of those most... Critical of Cream's writing in the Archie Comics... I'm actually satisfied with how she was handled in IDW, going by her debut. I would go into details, but I don't want half my post to be spoiler'd, and I just know I'll get into a Wall of Text over the character (again...). I'll just say that the fanfare given to Cream in the story was most welcome, she actually got to do something substantial, even after being told by another character not to go into danger (which I can excuse this time, for a few specific reasons), and I sincerely look forward to where Ian takes Cream's character in the comic's future Which is far more than I could ever say for the Archie run
Gemerl was cool as well. Can't deny that I wish people weren't focusing on his appearance far more than Cream's, but he was undeniably out of the franchise scene for much longer than Cream was, so... >.> But yeah, I'm not bothered by his "boring" personality and speech. I never really cared for how Archie!Gemerl was essentially Shard in the body of a canon character anyhow, and while what we got in this story wasn't exactly an improvement, it at least allows room for IDW!Gemerl to develop his own personality
Cheese and Chocola becoming Zombotified was somewhat expected, but I was seriously thinking Vanilla would've joined them as well lol Thankfully that wasn't the case; losing Cheese alone is more than soul shattering for Cream. And admittedly, Vanilla becoming Zombotified was too expected, and no good writer goes the expected route xD Anywho, someone on Reddit stated how they hope Cream losing Cheese would motivate her fight on her own, rather than rely on him for combat, and I earnestly hope Ian goes in that exact direction for Cream in this Arc. Cream absolutely needs development, and especially needs ways of fighting without relying on Cheese. And Cream would definitely want to fight alongside Sonic and Co. come the Arc's finale, since there's no way she would stand to the sidelines after Eggman's actions effectively killed her closest friend/pet: it's personal
I doubt the Zombots would set up a new status quo, at least not to the extent of the setting becoming a nigh-permanent Zombie Apocalypse. But some of their influence ought to linger after this Arc is over
Im surprised no one mentioned Dr. Starline alreadyhaving large cracks in his pedestal of Eggman. I think in an arc or two he maybe ready for a coup.

I'm honestly not fond of how Eggman seems to be portrayed in this issue. He's acting like an idiot letting the virus mutate into something out of his control and doesn't care to fix it. I REALLY don't want him getting upstaged again.
It's annoying given how Eggman has been portrayed from Colors onwards as competent and keeping his power sources under control (the Zeti were freed cause of Sonic, not because Eggman was careless). Especially in Forces and early IDW where he always had a contingency plan after contingency plan.
Like sure I get the vitriol those game stories get but Eggman was always portrayed good in them.
Aside from that the issue was pretty good, it featured some good emotional stakes, I like the Dwindling Party that seems to be happening as this goes on.
Also I hope Starline doesn't betray Eggman, that be cliche, maybe instead he helps Eggman overcoming his biggest flaws.
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"I'm really starting to wish Ian reserved that little 'advancement' for a later issue, cause it's starting to overtake discussion on Issue 18... But I can agree to not wanting Eggman to getting upstaged by the Zombots since him getting usurped by creations/minions was a real problem back in the 2000's. And considering that Amy and Knuckles had their reputations more-or-less ruined in a very similar way, I can empathize with Eggman fans. Though, honestly, I don't think Eggman getting "betrayed" by the Zombots is all that big a deal since, well, that's just the nature of zombies and plagues; unless you're a necromancer with absolute power over the undead, you will lose control over your zombie army, and there's a very good reason virus-based weapons aren't used by anyone in real life: sudden mutations like what was shown in this issue being a core reason why. And the Hard-Boiled Heavies also betrayed Eggman in Mania, yet they manage to be complete fan favorites, and didn't mitigate Mania's success in the slightest...
Now, if it were Starline betraying Eggman anytime soon, then I'd take issue since Starline is a much more 'conscious' than the Zombots, who at this point are little more than a non-sentient force, and so Eggman being upstaged by him would be a lot more... Frustrating. And that's not taking into account Starline being a Canon Foreigner. And indeed, having Starline help Eggman overcome his "lack of long-term planning" would be most ideal
Yeah, I suspect that Starline wont turn on Eggman, as much as try to fix his plan.
Maybe Eggman will get turned into a Zombot as a reference to Robo-Robotnik XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.I know you're joking, but I'd rather avoid yet another Penders lawsuit. I'm sure that Sega, IDW, and everybody working on the comic would agree.

Yeah, it was a joke XD Does it even work on humans?
The Protomen enhanced my life.If it can work on plant-life and Chao, then the virus would logically work on humans. Nothing about their biology would spare them from a virus that transforms anything organic into liquid metal
Here's something interesting Ian Flynn just confirmed via his latest Bumblekast that the Zombot storyline was originally intended for Archie Sonic.
I figured that might be the case. I do seem to recall reading that he didn't want to say what his old plans were in case he decided to use them for this series.
I wonder what it would have been like in the Archie series...
Oh God! Natural light!I presume they might be a little closer to the Prelates from Silver's Sonic Universe arc.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Woo "Battle for Angel Island" showed up on my doorstop today. Of course it only contains a last-minute hint to the zombot storyline everyone else is wrapping up now.
Man I wish trades where produced faster.
Bleye knows Sabers.Dammit, Vegeta's pride made the situation worse as usual
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Sorry, did you mean Shadow or did you say Vegeta's name as a joke?
Read the latest issue and you'll know what I mean.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Shadow bear hugs the idiot ball like his life depended on it
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"Its so hilariously contrived.
Sonic: Ok Shadow, don't touch the infected otherwise you'll catch it, but in case you do, you can just run it off
Shadow: Fuck you, I do what I want.
*Gets infected by touching them*
Shadow: *Surprised Pikachu face*

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. You could have make that he sacrificed himself so the others could be safe.
That, just that and this would have ended up good.
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"I get what it was going for; showing how Shadow's stubbornness and pride can put him and others in danger...but its such a dumb way of doing it.
I know everyone compares Shadow to Vegeta, but now they're just running with it by having Shadow make stupid mistakes that endanger everyone because pride.
It's not even that it's out of character, it's just blatant disregard on Shadow's part.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
I'm assuming this means Cream didn't get assimilated into the murder-horde then...but that Vanillia, Cheese and/or Chocola did?
