Cool. I will give Quinn/Rachel a rewrite, and cut what needs to be cut, hopefully in the next couple of days.

Just one thing before I cut what needs to cut. Reposting this here. For some more opinions.

Okay from Live-Action Films:

• Brigitte and Sam are this in Ginger Snaps.

Now it's been a while since I have watched the movie, but I seem to remember that they got legit Ship Tease in the first film with no competition. Now I have never seen the sequels so maybe she gets a love interest there. Though looking around online shipping Bridget with Ginger seems to be much bigger. However I am not that big of a part of this fandom, so I could be wrong.

Given what I know and remember, the Rachel/Quinn dynamic was always fascinating to me, romantic or not.

Okay I cut what needed to be cut, but I won't be able to rewrite the Quinn/Rachel for a bit as I'm busy bit busy today.

Also from Animated Films:

• The Princess and the Frog fan-works hate to leave out Charlotte. Most are either Tiana/Charlotte or Naveen/Tiana/Charlotte.

Yeah this doesn't count. Naveen/Tiana is still most popular around the internet. Tiana/Charlotte is a close second, but still second.

Well then cut away clearly. Yeah, sure Charlotte apparently gets some action in fanfics, but I among most others clearly do enjoy Tiana/Naveen more.

Tricky thing about this trope is that a fan often thinks on what THEY personally prefer and thus, it’s only a personal popularity contest to them.

That said, the mass appeal of a couple that’s not canon? Appropriate that such a thing be labeled as universal through this trope.

Hm, would anyone here be willing to help me with a wick check for this if I made a sandbox? I want to get this thing in the TRS someday, but I've just been so busy.

See How to Do a Wick Check. The gist of them though is that you just randomly check 50+ wicks to see how the trope is being used, while recording the results. A large amount of misuse is almost always enough for a cleanup effort or TRS thread.

Did we ever decide rather a girl of the week counted as creator preferred?

Hey guys, are legacy examples allowed? I was going to clean up the League of Legends page but had some questions first. League's had a lot of retcons and revisions of lore and ships have changed accordingly. Some ships are only fan-preferred in different skinlines (which are all Alternate Universes of each other) and the big Garen/Katerina ship started as a Crack Pairing that gained so much traction that Riot Games eventually just decided to Throw It In!. I could start cleaning the obvious offenders but there's going to be weirdness on the page eventually so I thought I'd ask first.

I have been repeatedly saying they should be. I'm not sure what the thread consensus is, though.

I agree that they should be, so long as the entry bothers to make it clear that they're historical and how.

Yeah sure. I think we decided they should so long as they did count one, the entry mentions that, and they had some form of creator preferred pairing.

Speaking of which did we ever decide rather a girl of the week counts as creator preferred?

I agree, Naveen/Tiana is more popular. But you could add the mention of Naveen/Tiana/Charlotte to OT3 if it's not already there.

Yeah I might add that to OT3.

Okay I cut the Princess and the Frog example and will add the OT3 example later.

However here's one from Alien vs. Predator:

• Fan-Preferred Pairing: Scar/Lex is probably the only ship with any significant number of fans to have emerged from the AvP movies. The producers even said they imagined Scar as a "romantic leading man", while the author of the novelization couldn't resist the temptation to introduce some jokes and teasing.

Now this ship is indeed the most popular ship from the movies, and the franchise as a whole (arguably the Predator franchise as well), mainly because of their dynamic, which is seen as one of the best part of the first film by many fans, and the Yautja having an absurd amount of fangirls wanting to live through Lex. However the problem is from my memory neither has a creator preferred pairing. So this better suited One True Pairing.

Is Scar the main Predator in the movie? If so, yeah I totally see fans thinking that. Apparently the writers did too.

Yeah Scar was the main Predator of the film.

Also yeah the creators seemed to ship them as well. So even more reason it doesn't count.

Also from YMMV for Ultimate Spider-Man:

• Fan-Preferred Couple: As stated under Shipping Goggles, Peter/Ava is getting more popular, especially after it became clear Peter/MJ wasn't happening and Mary Jane's screen time gradually lessened with each season. With no other canon love interest in sight, Ava "wins" the non-existent shipping war by default.
  • When Mary Jane returned in Season 4, the Peter/MJ shippers resurfaced.

Peter/Ava counts being the most popular ship from this show specifically on most sites, though Peter/Nova and Peter/Harry do give it a run for it's money. Just needs a rewrite. Peter/MJ doesn't count as they are given a lot of legit Ship Tease, and being mostly overshadowed in the fandom by other ships.

Also would adding Ship Tease in a novelization or tie in novel, if it's made by one of the creators, mean there's a creator preferred couple?

I figured Ship Tease was pretty subjective. I used it to describe a scene on American Housewife that strongly looked as though it teased Taylor/Cooper.

We need a cleanup thread for that too?
