That might make life hard for the Belmonts. Lemons were next to impossible to get in the West until the 20th century.

I see. That's why Cream Pies damage certain enemies in Portrait of Ruin.

They must be Lemon Cream Pies.

Behold my genius.

It might sound odd, but I want to see Goldbrand in a bone boat. Just because the line about him never encountering anything he wouldn't kill, fuck or turn into a boat really sticking with me....

So, I continued this show and watched the second season last October. I guess that Season 2 was more entertaining, although it had most of the same problems as Season 1 (like the pacing, the plot didn't seem to progress quickly enough; and there was a bit too much exposition).

Although I did like how they took some time to develop the main villains and their personalities. Dracula, Carmilla, Godbrand, Isaac, and Hector all had some good moments. Though it's a shame that they killed off Godbrand too early. And even worse, most of the vampire generals didn't have any names, backstories, or even dialogue, so what a waste. The final confrontation between Dracula and Alucard was pretty good to see.

As someone who has never played any of the Castlevania video games, I'm curious about how this cartoon compares to the games, at least story-wise? From what little I can guess, the games (which are an old series dating back to the NES times) are not particularly plot-heavy.

When Season 3 comes out, I hope they have more episodes (like 10-12 at least), and I'd like to see them expand the story and world; like having the protagonists travel to more locations, and encountering some new enemies to fight.

Hmm, a pretty meaty length. Wonder if the startup from making season 2 will lead to a smoother production for season 3 with the extra two episodes.

[up][up][up]The plot of the games is essentially always "Dracula is back with his magic castle, are you a bad enough dude to go kill Dracula?" With some minor twists and turns depending on who exactly is resurrecting Dracula this time around. In fact, Dracula comes back so regularly that you can set your watch by it.

Also, and this may not be clear just from the cartoon, the Castlevania series follows hundreds of years of the history of the Belmont family. So if the series keeps going past season 3, we'll be seeing Trevor's great grandchildren and whatnot. There's some thin connective tissue (like Alucard), but each game tends to take place in an entirely different era with an entirely different cast.

Oh yeah, and almost all the games take place entirely inside the castle, which is a huge shapeshifting labyrinth filled with monsters from all mythologies. So there aren't really any places from the series to visit: it's all castle all the time. Hence the title.

Some of the later games even have merchants and shit inside the castle. Somehow.

And let's never forget the brazenness of Juste Belmont, who discovered an empty room of the castle, promptly declared it to be his now, and spent half of his journey swiping furniture from other parts of the castle to decorate with.

It was a fandom joke back in the gay that Juste is the first openly gay Belmont in the franchise, as demonstrated by the fact that his foremost concern while battling Dracula was interior decorating.

I was totally just about to fix it but actually it's funnier like that.

EDIT: I would love to see Juste show up in the series. They could do a wacky Odd Couple shtick where Juste moves into Castlevania uninvited. Alucard's trying to do very important vampire things but Juste keeps swiping his furniture.

Together, over time, they form a mutual bond of respect and brothe—GET BACK HERE WITH THAT POTTED FERN.

Remember when Trevor said he lost his home when he was like 13? Then Alucard said it was weird to think that his childhood lasted longer then Trevor's. But later we find that he apparently aged really quickly? Wouldn't that mean that, yes, he did have a shorter childhood than Trevor?

Presumably they meant childhood in the sense of "being allowed to grow up in a nurturing environment free of adulthood problems" rather than the literal period of physically maturing.

Well, now that the castle is literally above the Belmont library, the notion of a Belmont swiping things for a room in the castle is a little bit more believable...

I'm thinking Juste isn't going to get anything.

He's kinda...well irrelevant. Outside of apparently being Richter's pops, he never does anything as far as Belmonts are concerned.

He never enters Dracula's castle, and doesn't even fight the actual Dracula.

He's quite likely the most irrelevant Belmont in the entire history of the Franchise.

I guess it'd be something.

Bring Lydie with him. She's to HOD what Juste is to the entire Belmont line: irrelevant.

At least with this wacky side story idea, she'd get to do something.

How do you even pronounce Juste in the first place?

Is it Joust? Does he like to ride horses and hit people with lances?

Is it Juiced? Is Juste bursting with steroids?

It apparently is Juiced.

So yeah, he's gotten the short end of the stick. Guy needs some new stuff in his table other than being Richter's apparent dad.

The only other Belmont to fight Dracula twice (he actually comes after Simon) and was much older than any others when he did it (their first battle was 15 years earlier from Chris' point of view).

Edit: Whoops. I keep forgetting that Christopher actually predates Simon, so canonically, he's the first to fight Dracula one on one and win, and the first to do it twice.

Sucks for Simon, since both of those feats were his claims to fame.

There must be something Simon has done that no other Belmont has. Oh, he was a member of the prestigious N Team, and went on many adventures. Like becoming engaged to Mother Brain from Metroid and fantasizing about their offspring. (Dracula helped fit Simon for his tux.)

Man, the 80's were weird.

When IDW got the rights to do a Castlevania comic, it was focused on Christopher. Specifically the plot of Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge.

I’d still laugh if next season after Trevor we fast forward and get Nathan Graves. Maybe they can explain where the Morris family got a whip equal to the Vampire Killer.

Maybe it's the Morningstar? Or is that actually the Vampire Killer? Age-old ancestral weapons going by multiple names is quite normal. Plus there's an artifact in Portrait of Ruin called the "Undead Killer" which seems to be an off-brand Vampire Killer imitation.

As for Juste, him and his grandfather Simon might be competing for "Most irrelevant Belmont" but they both still have way more style than any of the others.

I thought Juste was supposed to be Richter's grandfather, not his father.
