Jam Session Club week 2:
Planned on playing Latches by Disclosure, but that's gone to the back burner due to the song's complexity.
Instead, we got started on Minnie the Moocher, with your average "We've never touched the piece before and have no idea what we're supposed to do" difficulty. I got assigned drummer, since my fingers are too large for the mandolin (yes, we had one), and piano 6-hand sounds a little problematic for a jazz standard.
I say "drummer", what I mean is "two pencils on a table and hopefully a good sense of rhythm." Nevertheless, the club leader did compliment the job I did, so I must be doing something right.
She also offered to help me with the guitar trouble I have, so there's that.
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot.Awesome
I suddenly have the idea that I should learn to sing the entirety of "Glitter and be Gay" from Candide. I'm sure I'll snap out of it soon. But I could totally rock it...if I don't end up destroying my vocal chords and/or falling out of a window when I'm over-acting it
I haven't gotten around to uploading the sheet music yet, but here's an MP3 of my most recent piece. It's called "Half Her Life in Chains", and it's inspired by Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. There's also a WAV file if that works better for you.
Specifically the imagery I was going for was wandering through the dark fairy wood, and then ending up at the Gentleman's neverending ball.
The title is a reference to a line Lady Pole says in the show (and possibly in the book, I dunno): "Half my life I am in chains. The other half I deserve to be free." (Referencing how the Gentleman spirits her away to the ball every night, and then, because they think she's going mad, her family keeps her confined to her room during the day.)
~William Radar Storm does this sound like something you'd want/be able to play if I put up the sheet music?
Sure, I'd be interested.
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot.Sweet. I don't know if I'll have time to upload it tonight (I really am hellishly busy) but I should be able to do it tomorrow night, and I'll link it here.
What did you think of the song? I mean obviously it'd sound better if a human were playing it, but the computer more or less gets the idea across.
I've been practicing it myself and it's actually not too bad. The trick is with some of the rhythms on the left hand (particularly right before the point where the song shifts from 4/4 to 6/8), but listening to the recording so you know what it should sound like is a big help. The notes themselves aren't too bad, since the first half of the song is so slow and the second half is mostly just scales.

Ugh, my choir director just scheduled a three-hour long extra rehearsal just for sopranos so we can get our shit together. Our section is bad and we should feel bad.

I really need to stop procrastinating on my music projects.
Jam session club: Week 3.
This meeting, only the leader and I showed up, so instead of Minnie the Moocher, we sat around noodling on our acoustic guitars.
It was only this week when I realized how agonizing it is to your fretting fingertips the first time you try it. Also, I kept having trouble getting the high E string to actually produce a note without being muted.
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot.I have a lot of projects, some of which are currently retired. I play guitar, bass, keyboards, ukulele, melodica and sing, though I'm not exceptionally good at none of these, just a little above average on the guitar and bass. My music can be found here and my "sound lab" (where I used to test stuff for my main projects) can be found here.
I released a new double A-side single titled Downward/Upward. The first track is a homage to The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails, while the other track is more metal-based and shoegaze-inspired. It can be found here. Any feedback would be appreciated.
"If you spend all your heart / On something that has died / You are not alive and that can't be a life"HEY ~William Radar Storm I FINALLY REMEMBERED TO UPLOAD THAT SONG
PLS PLAY IT AND RECORD IT AND LET ME HEAR YOU PLAY IT THX
:D
EDIT: Oops, ignore the staccato mark on the right hand in measure 42. That was Staffpad registering an accidental touch as a marking.

The band is planning to play this utterly awesome-sounding piece called Primal. I can't wait!

Oh look, a ghost!Learning the Haydn mass is going well. They've yet to catch on that I'm lip syncing half the Credo. We also have an entire binder (almost 200 pages) of other pieces to learn too.

Update: William is to visit a voice teacher next Thursday.
In other news, took "Half Her Life" to my piano teacher today. She helped with the triplets section.

I'm so excited. How do you like it?

Well, you weren't kidding when you said it was complex, so quite a bit of practice will be required.
That said, I find its use of dissonance to be interesting.
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot.My piano tutor said the same thing (about the dissonance), particularly measures 9 and 19 (same notes in each). I'm always a little worried with her because she's so positive that I can't tell if she's giving legitimate praise or just boosting my ego. But it's nice to hear someone else echo the sentiment.
...I want to learn to play guitar.
...But considering that I just had to quit piano lessons because I couldn't keep up with work and school and piano and social life, should probably shelve that idea for another time.
Just now, like a full month later, I realized I posted the wrong recording. I sounded awful in that one

I have a chamber choir concert in an hour ahhhhh. I'm in a duet and I'm totally going to mangle it. :/ Right now I'm just hanging around school in my long black choir dress looking cool.
I can play piano, and I think I've composed a few songs. Although it's entirely possible that I just heard them somewhere and I don't remember where.
I was thinking of going to an arts high school, but I guess I can branch out if I go to IB.

Oh look, a ghost! So, got a bass for Christmas.
And singlehandedly alienated everyone else.
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot.Hey, I'm Cass, I'm a singer and a songwriter but I don't play any instruments (yet), am i still allowed to chill here?
But they seem to know where they're going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.Hello, I'm Marco, and I compose music with Audacity, LBP Music Sequencer and Noteblock Studio, do I count as a musician?
Now I'm drafting an email to my choir director that I'm going to have to miss two out of the next four rehearsals (Today I'm really sick and Thursday 10/6 I'm going to Comic Con) I'm sure this will go over well.
