Three major Doctor Who fan YT channels I unsubscribed from ages ago were Mr.TARDIS, Doctor Freedom, and Matrixlord 212.

There's nothing really wrong with the first two, it's just Mr.TARDIS appears to be losing more and more of his mind covering right-wing conservative YT channels on his livestreams and attempting to counter their bigotry. I feel giving them attention does more harm than good and promotes their videos. It makes him look more like controlled opposition who's giving them free publicity.

Doctor Freedom used to win me over with his criticisms of Moffat era Doctor Who and alleged 'insider' knowledge, then when it became clear he didn't have any real scoops of his own, the quality of his videos kept going down, to the point all he does is report the news from the barely lit interior of his own car, all while vaping and spending half the video complaining about right wing fans who picked on the Chibnall era of the programme.

Matrixlord on the other hand turned into a major lolcow, to the point he's had whole wikias dedicated to his antics over the years, some of which he managed to get taken down, though some persist. Back in the day he ran some of the more major Doctor Who podcasts and, like Freeddom, professed to have insider knowledge that turned out to be incorrect every time. Nowadays he's trying to become number one gamer in America and the world and devotes his whole channel to gaming streams. Good luck to him, but I liked his Doctor Who content and comic reviews and it doesn't look like he cares about any of that now. Him not liking Doctor Who much anymore is hilarious because he spent years wishing David Tennant and Russel T. Davies would come back and now regrets it

For me, it was Shadiversity. It was quite upsetting when I had to leave, because he was my introduction to channels about swords and other weapons, armor, historical techniques, fantasy/action/history tropes vs reality, etc.

I caught an initial red flag during his stick vs nunchaku series of videos, when he used the "R" slur. Since the matter of it being a slur was only starting to become widely known at the time, I gave him the benefit of the doubt by going "maybe he just doesn't know".

(Incidentally, while I'm Neurodivergent, and thus among the demographics the slur targets, I've luckily never had it used against me directly, which is why I might be more tolerant on the matter at times than I should).

The decisive moment came later, when he dropped his video on He-Man. One of his points when commenting on the "I have the power" line disparages discourse about systemic inequality and oppression, framing it as being an excuse people use for not succeeding. The slur thing could be let slide by presuming ignorance, but this could not.

The video in general also pushes for traditional gender roles. Look, if you, as an individual, wish to follow/conform to traditional models of masculinity or femininity, that's valid (just as it is equally valid to steer clear of them). But he seemed to be preaching it as a thing everyone should live by, in a 'society is getting worse because we forgot these values' kind of way.

It seems I left right on schedule, too, because I later heard about the kind of things that have been said and done over on Knights Watch.

It doesn't bother me as much now as it did back then, at least, because I don't follow the kind of content I met him for as much as I used to. I only really watch Skallagrim these days (a cool guy btw, or at least I'm not aware of anything objectionable about him), and very irregularly at that.

Rocked Reviews, mainly due to the fact that Luke wont post clips of songs anymore. I know its not his fault, but considering other music youtubers CAN post song clips, he could learn from them. Plus, all he seems to be doing lately are top 10 lists as opposed to album reviews.

Since I am currently doing therapy sessions, I unsubscribed from Oh!Steph Co. Initially I subscribed to her because I could relate to her insecurities regarding being the ugly friend in the group (and never getting any B Fs as a teenager). I unsubbsed because I just need to watch more positive content.

ZAIA Enterprise America - Perfectly fine content creator on the site, but their transition from analysis videos to primarily stop-motion skits aren't what I subbed to them for (What they're passionate about though; more power to them). Their social medias have also become quite abrasive in recent months and I simply lack the motivation to remain dedicated.

Here's an assortment of YouTube channels I've unsubscribed from over the years:

  • CinemaSins. I enjoyed their early videos, but they quickly devolved into extended unfunny nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking.
  • I was into iilluminaughtii's videos in 2020 (I think) because I appreciated the content calling out shady businesses, in particular MLMs. Then it started to get boring — many of the stories weren't particularly juicy, and the presentation often felt like a student giving a talk on an assigned topic she wasn't very invested in. Glad I got out before the scandals hit.
  • I unsubscribed from Rhythm Game channel Etienne when he tried to pivot to sports. His presentation is not bad, note  but not engaging enough to get me to sit through an hour of material on a sport I have zero interest in. (He later decided to just abandon the old channel and start a new one for the sports stuff. Probably worth a look if you like Track and Field.)
  • The Mysterious Mr. Enter. I'm not that interested in this kind of content anymore. His many... questionable... takes also put me off. With that said, I keep checking in on him now and then because he sometimes does stuff that interests me, and he makes an effort to address his flaws and mistakes.
  • WhoIsThisGit because of his "Why I Hate Undertale" video. Some of his complaints were understandable, but "if this game were a person, it'd be an annoying SJW" made me nope out.
  • And to end on a good note: I unsubscribed from R-note's channel after they randomly decided to use it for Let's Plays (at least that's what I think they were). Thankfully they stopped doing that, so I resubscribed. Their Touhou M-1 Grand Prix series is good, so no regrets there.

[up] Oh lordy, Whoisthisgit has made it quite clear that he hates “wokies”- yeah, he’s one of those people.

I also unsubbed from Watch Mojo due to how unoriginal they’ve been. They’ve been declining in quality for a while now.

[up] watchmojo to me are the definition of junk food content, pretty empty souless videos that just push out stuff as quickly and constantly as possible.

I unsubscribed from Watch Mojo after I Hate Everything released his video on them. It was brutal and truthful, I’m glad he opened my eyes to Watch Mojo’s repugnance.

On said note, I unsubscribed from I Hate Everything after his Suicide Squad review, Angry Joe’s video on the movie kept being brought up. I don’t like Angry Joe and it wasn’t right for him to pressure his opinion onto his co-hosts. I will stand by him and say he is not an idiot for liking a bad movie.

Are we still allowed spiteful threads like this?

I had to stay away from certain commentary channels as they seem to really hate Tipster. I know Tipster wasn't as noble as I thought but they seem to have a grudge against him. I also stayed away from Tipster as well as he seems like someone who doesn't stand for anything. I need to stay away from drama commentary channels in general.

Regarding the question about whether we're allowed to have threads like this, the answer is no; this one just slipped through the cracks. Locking after internal discussion since complaining threads aren't allowed.
