A Game of Gods Season 3: Terminus

Go To

There is a legend spoken across a myriad of worlds, a tale of a tower between worlds. Called the Tower of War by some, the Devouring Tower by others and the Tower of Gods by most. The story goes that at a time of great conflict and crisis, a great Tower appeared. A construct of jet black metal, it stretched into the skies to a height where none could see the top. And at the base of the Tower, a black and gold gate unlocked.

Here, the stories diverge. Some tell of a band of heroes emerging, bringing an end to dictators and those who would let conflict rage. Others tell of demons and evil beings spilling out from the Tower and covering the world in an eternal darkness. And others say that those who dared to enter never returned.

But all tales agree on one point. After a period, sometimes days, sometimes years, the Tower vanished, leaving behind a world forever marked by its arrival and legends in its wake. And the fate of those whom the Tower had swallowed was left in the hands of the Gods.

Greetings traveller, and welcome to the Tower. You have been chosen to climb its steps of black stone and seek the top where the Ruler awaits. Me? I am but a blind locksmith, forever cursed to lead those who would climb the Tower and explain how to proceed. At the top of this Tower awaits your reward should you succeed. Riches beyond your imagination, knowledge that surpasses that of the greatest thinkers, weapons that would pluck the sun out of the sky and treasures of technology that would make anyone a king of their world. And, should you wish to, a way home, just how you left.

Oh, do I sense hostility? Rebellion? Righteous anger, directed towards the Ruler for taking you from your home? Oh yes, you would not be the first. Certainly, the one responsible for your being here also awaits at the top. Would you like to strike them down? Take revenge for your treatment? Or take on the mantle of Ruler of the Tower yourself?

Yes, yes! For such is the nature of the Tower! At the top, your heart’s greatest desires! But to win, you must play the games that the gods dictate!

Ah, now you are listening? You wish to know how to play? Very well. You will climb the Tower one floor at a time. Each floor have the stairs to the next floor, locked. But each floor also has a black and gold gate that leads to a different world, locations unimaginable or locales familiar. From that world, a world embroiled in chaos and strife, you must locate the key that will grant you passage to the next floor. Will it be the crown of a king? The last coin of a beggar? The song of an animal? I will be able to tell you what it is, but you must find it by yourselves. And then you return here, and you can progress to the next floor.

A simple idea, but a difficult task. Travel the myriad of worlds that this Tower connects to, recover the keys and climb! Ascend towards the heavens, towards the reward that awaits above!

Climb!

Rules

First of all, please respect the forum rules and the RP subsection rules.

One character per player, please. We’d also like to keep powerlevels at a reasonable standard, but anything can be nerfed. Even if you think your character is too powerful, send them our way and we’ll discuss it. Rule of thumb, though: if your character can cause or fix natural disasters single-handedly in a short length of time, expect some nerfs.

Please keep to general R Ping etiquette. No ghosting (simply ignoring any attacks sent your character’s way); no autohitting (whether your character’s attack lands is up to the other player, not you); no taking control of other people’s characters, etc. Of course, these being etiquette and not laws, you can make breaches if they’re discussed with the other player beforehand.

The only real rule is that GM rulings are final, and must be obeyed, though if you have objections these rulings can be politely discussed. The GMs for Season 3 are Meanken, Makaioh and Lemurian.

  • Name: Scaramouche
  • Age: Unknown (Acts like he's in 20-40 range)
  • Appearance: The Crooner of Carnage
  • Universe: Samurai Jack
  • Personality: Flamboyant, seemingly affable, and campy, Scaramouche always enjoys his music, his ego, and his position as Aku's top assassin (he's really 3rd best but he doesn't know that). However, he can be violent and remorseless when the situation calls for it, he is a killer robot after all. He tends to call people "babe" or "baby" to anybody.
  • Backstory: (This is before he was reduced to a head after his fight with Jack) Fifty years after the Samurai called Jack had entered the future and has been a thorn at Aku's, the one who ruled the world and beyond, side, the feeling is mutual. Scaramouche is one of the assassins built to kill Jack, even if Aku had given up on that task. Scaramouche found a plan to draw out the Samurai by razing a nearby village, leaving no survivors, but fate had other plans...
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • Mechanical Lifeform: As with the typical machine, he cannot feel tired, sick, hungry, or fatigued and has increased durability and agility. However, he cannot regenerate his wounds without repairs.
    • Magical Music: His music, whether or not it came from his flute or his vocal cords, is able to lift objects from the ground to used as weapons. His throat, if damaged, can cut off the magic and silence his song. His limit when he is without his flute would be a person sized boulder and with it would be half a car's weight.
    • Tuning Blade: A dagger that has the blade split in two akin to a tuning fork that upon contact with an object can make it vibrate at very high frequencies and then, explode. Depending on the size of the object, it may take multiple strikes to create an explosion and large objects such as buildings can only have chunks of them blasted off.
    • Scimitar: A simple curved sword that can be used in conjunction of his tuning blade.
    • Phone: A pink screen phone that has Aku on speed dial. But he won't be able to contact with anyone outside of the Tower.
  • Why have they been picked to climb the Tower?: Because every adventure needs a bard, even if the bard is a campy killer machine.

I'd like to reserve a spot, if that's OK - I've settled on 2B as my next character, i just need to actually finish her game first.

@Dezmo: Looking better. I'm afraid the maximum speed allowed is 75 mph in a straight line, less when turning, so flight speed will have to be lowered. Also, the Ghost Ray can potentially get a bit strong, so will it work with the limitation that he has to charge up for the stronger shots? Finally, I am afraid you might have misunderstood what I meant with the Cryokinesis. What I wanted to know is how fast the Cryokinesis works on the target when it hits. Because of the potential for paralyzing and killing opponents, the effect can not be immediate, even with charge-up time.

@Ore-O: Scaramouche looks alright, just one thing. What's the max limit of what he can lift with his magic music?

@Little Mako: That's okay, you can reserve her. smile Though, I understand that's a rather popular game at the moment, so please do not take too long, in case others want to play her.

And finally, the welcoming post for the new characters is up! Link! Keep in mind, even though Sign-Ups will be accepted for a while still, all characters that are accepted in this Sign-Up period will receive that greeting and explanation, to simplify matters.

I'm okay with the nerfs on Danny's flying speed (I don't see him needing to fly that fast anyways) and him needing to charge up for stronger shots (that's pretty much how it works in the show). As for his cryokinesis, in the show, when he hits an enemy with an ice blast, they're usually frozen nearly instantly. Stronger enemies are able to break out of their ice case pretty easily in the show, but for the sake of the RP, I'd be willing to nerf his power so that those hit freeze over much slower.

  • Signup Sheet:
  • Name: Desco
  • Age: 12
  • Appearance: No change despite the years that passed
  • Universe: Disgaea 4/AGoG
  • Personality: Desco's personality is generally very positive as she happily does whatever she wants to do. She is still a bit naive but speaks with simple happiness at the thought of merciless slaughter to strengthen herself if it is what a Final Boss would do. However, she is very caring of those she considers her friends and would defend them with her life. She's gained courage over the years with her forever mindlinked partner, Schala. Schala is as important to Desco as Big Sis is, though in a somewhat different manner.
  • Backstory: Desco was an artificially created organism from Earth based on demon samples her father had collected. Created for the express purpose of being a little sister for her creator's daughter, and to take over the world for his daughter, Desco was raised from the start on these ideals. However she was a prototype and soon cast away in defeat from the final product. Desco was unsealed in Hades by former tyrant Valvatorez and reunited with her then dead Big Sis, and though the path was rough they together overthrew the corrupterment and saved the Earth from God's plan to destroy it.

    • Desco would have gone on to annihilate god under her mentor's guidance, however instead Desco was forced into the events of Eclipse of the Gods. Under Tatu, Desco was greatly weakened but grew attached to him and the other Overlords and eventually took over the chaos powers of an entity called Klarion, permanently bonding her with her new friend, Schala. Things didn't last long in this status as soon Tatu was dead, and so was Omega, some even higher being from Desco's perspective, and Desco was back home taking Schala with her. There, Desco lived happily with Big Sis and Schala, taking over Earth and learning to hate Tatu for what he had done to her in the long run. She continued by going on to help Valvatorez with his assault against the surprisingly numerous among of Gods in the universe in search of the ultimate creator. It was during this time, that Desco was once again ripped from her universe.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • Overview: For defensive strength Desco could be bar none one of the toughest little demons around. Coupled with great raw physical and magical power, what she really lacks is any speed.
      • Naturally Overlord Desco is far too powerful especially with Klarion's power so Klarion's powers are just gone.
    • Yogsothoth: A floating second body, Desco materializes him and de-materializes him at will. While he appears to be separate, the two are essentially one and any damage dealt to Yogsothoth is the same as hurting her main body. With Yogsothoth Desco can freely float in the air, moving at the same low speed that she does on the ground. Yogsothoth has a number of tentacles which can stretch to about 20 feet and open up very wide, literally down to the base if she wanted following the zigzag marking, to reveal a red void and sharp teeth to bite with.
      • Tail - While not usually important, Desco's tail can also stretch from the stub on the back of her dress, though not open as yogsothoth's tentacles do, and can be used as a whip-like weapon. She often uses it to make a threatening gesture but rarely ever actually uses it in combat.
      • Reflexes - The eyes all over Desco aren't just for show. While Desco cannot see through the yellow eyes all over her body, Yogsothoth can reflexively block seeing nearly everything around her, assuming he is materialized, without Desco being aware of what is happening. However her lack of speed often means this ability gets under-utilized.
    • Magic: Desco can cast a variety of magics up to 50 meters away. These have the variations Fire, Ice, Wind, and Star and Mega versions of each. The base spell is a quick remote materialization of the energy against a single target while the Mega version is a slower, larger, and more powerful version.
    • Inherent Skill: Final Boss Arises is different from the magics in that is faster and more powerful than the mega tier magic. It gathers Ice/Wind magic in one tentacle and Fire/Wind Magic in another then shoots the two blasts. The biggest difference is that its an attack that travels through the air instead of materializing near or onto the target.
    • Magichange: Desco changes into a large two bladed sword in an ally's hand where the two blades are positioned as such that it looks like someone just took a blade and cut out a piece down the middle. The blades can move in scissor-like fashion. The ally gains Desco's power, speed, and toughness while wielding her, along with a super skill Evil Sword Balmung. This lasts only a few minutes and no more than once a day.
      • Evil Sword Balmung: Her dual-tech with her wielder, Desco's blades rotated out as far as they can, then create a 30 foot energy blade. The blade itself doesn't actually do the harm, but rather when swung in front of the user the energy gathers in one crescent shaped spot which launches itself at the target as the user finishes the swing. Usable once per Magichange, and doing so is very tiring for the wielder and Desco.
  • Why have they been picked to climb the Tower?: To kill Ruler, or to become a Nomad. Depending on what happens along the way.

Desco will not be happy being brought to Terminus, but at least this isn't a gameshow or a save the multiverse plot :P.. I'm wondering if I should RP out her severely weakened state upon severing her link to Schala, as would happen had Schala simply died in her world.

Currently having a hard time writing for Momiji so I guess now's the time for a change of pace.

  • Name: Ernesti (Eru) Echevarria
  • Age: 14
  • Appearance: "Giant robots are a man's romance.~"
  • Universe: Knights And Magic
  • Personality: Though on the surface he looks like a studious youth with a mild nature, Ernesti is anything but once he comes anywhere in close proximity to anything remotely related to mecha. Known to cause mischief in his quest for the ultimate robot, he is both a pioneer of robotics research and a devil that calmly gets rid of any opponents or obstacles in his goals to get there. His infatuation with robotics is so great that he forcibly jumpstarted a technological renaissance in his home kingdom simply to satisfy his near perverse love for all things mecha.
  • Backstory: A computer programmer from Japan that got run over by a trunk whose driver was inebriated, the discarnate soul of 'Tsubasa Kurata' eventually transmigrated into a more fantasy world reminiscent of Escaflowne or Rayearth, where humanity is in a constant struggle with giant demon beasts and thus developed giant magical armors named Silhouette Knights to combat them.
    • Of course, him being a mecha junkie was enough to make him focus almost singlemindedly on getting his hands on one such 'mecha' and to accomplish this, the boy enrolled in Laihalla Academy of the Fremmvaria Kingdom in order to learn all about the Silhouette Knights- whether it be piloting or the production process that makes them. Due to a series of wacky hijinks though, he was forced to graduate with top honors and given command of his own knight squadron by a mischievous king who sought to use Eru's demonic drive for the good of his kingdom and to minimize overall chaos caused by the biggest troublemaker in the frontier.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment: Ernesti's pretty much human in all regards save for his prodigal and almost computer-like processing power and the fact that mankind in the fantasy world he transmigrated to has evolved to have mana generating organs in the brain known as Magius Circuit that when coupled with externally held special processed crystals plucked from slain demon beasts can generate phenomena known as 'magic'. That said, he's pretty a nimble and spry acrobat due to training his body since childhood.
    • Ernesti has received training as a "Knight", a most respectable profession whose mission is to protect the innocent and slay the demon beasts that swarms from the Bocuse Sea of Trees into human settlements. They are known for both fighting prowess and tactical acumen, Ernesti himself being a Knight Commander and thus having a leader's disposition as well. Skilled with the staff-blade and several strange weapons of his own devising, his fighting style is all about dynamic movement that puts the enemy off guard. Eru's weapon of choice as an on-foot knight would be his specialized staff-sword which was crafted by a dwarf. Particularly enduring and tipped with a mana crystal so it can activate magic without Eru needing to swap weapons in the middle of combat, it is a particularly trustworthy partner.
    • Magic- What all true Knights should be able to pull off in order to contend with the Demon Beast horde. Ernesti himself specializes in Physical Reinforcement magic to bolster his lean body during combat, allowing him to hit harder than his body size would suggest while also giving him the necessary reflexes and speed to dart in and out of conflict at a whim. Physical Reinforcement can also be cast on anything in immediate contact with his body such as strengthening his staff-sword's cutting ability or making his power armor's defense more enduring.
    • His programming skills come in handy for casting elemental magics of the "fire", "lightning" and "wind" varieties. For "fire" he shoots off either fireballs, fire lances, and a steady stream reminiscent of a flame thrower. For "lightning" he usually uses a metallic medium to discharge violent currents into the enemy or shoots singular bolts of lightning down from the sky. "Wind" is mostly used to complement his movement by reducing air drag on his body for long runs, shooting bursts of air to either boost his jumps or soften his landing, or creating powerful whorls of air to deflect arrows/buffet the enemy. Troublesome opponents usually gets fusion spells that can deal more damage at the expense of more mana being drained. Due to his high mana stocks, Eru can fire off a lot of small spells without needing to chant though higher tier spells drain a lot and require a longer casting time.
    • Engineering Genius: He is known for tinkering around with designs in his spare time and has so far in his young second life unleashed ridiculous equipment that helped bolster his kingdom's advantage in the arms race over the surrounding countries. Though most of his designs are theoretical in nature, once he finds a good enough craftsman the guy is most liable to churn out incredibly eccentric magical weapons.
    • Silhouette Gear- Motor Beat: Eru's personal seven feet tall full body power reinforced plate armor that mimicked the much bigger Silhouette Knights. It is stuffed to the gills with his own personal specifications, making it an all-round equipment that is capable of fighting smaller sized demon beasts, blacksmithing, and even stealth raids due to increasing the user's physical abilities and not being nearly as loud as a full mecha. It is equipped with sturdy armor that can ping off normal bullets and equipped with Crystal Tissue to mimic the human musculature and generate mana, though actually piloting it is a steady drain on the magic reserves so it can only be used for short term conflicts if one wants to do anything more than use it to walk around. Its equipment are wire anchors in the wrist that can be used to embed itself into sturdy places to Spider-man swing around, two regular magical staves equipped to the back via a set of secondary arms that can shoot off magic bullets without needing to re-equip the main limbs, the 'Mobile Ballista'- a siege weapon reworked to become a crossbow that can rapidfire magazines of bolts that are essentially short spears with fletchling, and finally a longsword sized up for its own melee usage.
  • Why have they been picked to climb the Tower?: Because of his willingness to shake up the world if it means he gets what he wants. In a good way that benefits others too of course.

real or joke

Well I was going to have him in a Dreadnought shell, riding a Thunderwolf...

So, lose the Lord of Tempests (was going to do that anyway, random powers every turn would be even more complicated than Wulfrik getting upgraded every time he kills something), omophagea, and teleporter, preventing others from casting is active, what else was there?

-

  • Name: Njal Stormcaller (originally Njal Stormsson).
  • Age: Unknown, several centuries is always a safe bet.
  • Appearance: Space Viking Berserker Shaman (and bird).
  • Universe: Warhammer 40 K
  • Personality: Rune Priests are aloof figures in Fenrisian mythology, for they have knowledge of sagas and shamanic traditions far beyond mortal men. Such is their degree of mysticism that they are allowed to act independently, often keeping to themselves in order to better read the runes and guess at the future. But in battle, they are as wrathful and loud as any of their uninitiated brothers, striking with weapons and psychic might at the foes of Fenris. Their fury is directed against not only the foes of the Imperium, but those who would commit flagrant injustice in its name, casting aside honor in the name of secrecy.
  • Backstory: Njal Stormsson was a tribesman of Fenris who showed such courage in battle that he was rescued from death by a Rune Priest, to begin his training as one of Fenris' legendary Sky Warriors. Njal's psychic powers made him one of the greatest warriors from that planet, if not the entire Imperium. His greatest feat was to obliterate a Bloodthirster of Khorne, his powers ripping through the magical protection afforded by the daemon's heathen god, then summoning an ice storm to shred its minions. Known as the Stormcaller afterwards, he has continued to serve his Chapter as the High Rune Priest.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • Rune Priest Powers: Rune Priests channel the spirits of Fenris and the world they stand on, invoking rock, lightning, ice and wind to smite their enemies. Some believe it to be a source of power entirely separate from the Warp (and thus free of its taint), others believe this to be a heretical delusion. Regardless, their use on the battlefield is among the most awe-inspiring sights Russ' Folk may hope to witness. However, sometimes the native spirits are uncooperative, and other means must be found to ensure the foe's destruction.
      • Living Lightning: The Rune Priest sends a thunderbolt from the sky which leaps from enemy to enemy. 120m range.
      • Tempest's Wrath: The Rune Priest calls upon the spirits of the air to destroy those who intrude on their domain. 120m radius.
      • Jaws of the World Wolf: The Rune Priest demands of the earth that it split open into a great chasm. 120m max range.
      • Murderous Hurricane: The Rune Priest's very breath becomes a raging icestorm, raining thousands of ice shards into the enemy. 90m range.
      • Storm Caller: The Rune Priest summons a furious maelstrom of wind and ice that obscures him and nearby allies from enemy sight.
      • Fury of the Wolf Spirits: Summons the ghostly forms of Freki the Fierce and Greki the Cunning from the netherworld, two enormous wolves whose very howls cause terror among the enemy. 60m range.
      • Thunderclap: By clapping his gauntlets together with a chant, the Rune Priest is able to amplify the sound into a stone-breaking shockwave. 2.5m range.
    • The Canis Helix gives the Space Wolves a great deal of lupine characteristics, most famously their wolflike manes and yellow eyes. They possess elongated canines that can bend the hardest of alloys, incredible reflexes, and inhuman senses of smell.
    • The superhuman physiology of the Astartes extends far beyond mere size and strength:
      • Greatly enhanced reflexes and strength.
      • Bulletproof torso (against small-caliber weapons).
      • Secondary heart.
      • External wounds seal off and scar quickly.
      • Only needs 4 hours of sleep a day and can go up to two weeks without sleep.
      • Extra lungs to allow breathing in toxic environments or even water for longer.
      • Natural protection from high UV levels and most radiation.
      • Immunity to most ingested poisons.
      • Low-light vision almost equal to daylight.
      • Immunity to dizziness and motion sickness, and can filter and enhance sounds.
      • Can identify chemicals and track down a target by taste.
      • Can enter a catatonic state if near death to await possible rescue.
      • Can spit a poison at contact range, which is corrosive enough to dissolve metal in time.
    • Space Wolves are almost entirely immune to the effects of alcohol, to the point where their drinking contests (with mead containing a healthy proportion of jet fuel) are won by being the first to pass out.
    • Equipment:
      • Runic Terminator Armor: Njal's suit of Terminator Armor is further protected by the protective wards he alone has the skill to place.
      • Runic Staff: Carved into Njal's staff are runes of great power. Spells and magic cast against him fail far more often than not, he can prevent the use of enemy magic in the area, or even prevent casters from using their magic at all. It is empowered to destroy daemons, and so is particularly effective against them.
      • Bolt Pistol: This weapon fires self-propelled grenades which first penetrate then burst inside the target, making it equally murderous against flesh and armor. 60m range.
      • Nightwing: Njal's psyber-raven is able to spy on the battlefield and relay information to Njal, allowing him to strike the enemy even if they are hiding through means of skill, technology or certain magics, with the exception of lightning strikes. Nightwing also attacks enemies that get close to Njal, pecking and scratching at their eyes.
  • Why have they been picked to climb the Tower?: Long ago, Leman Russ, the Primarch of the Rout, disappeared into the Warp, claiming he would return at the Wolftime, the final battle. Njal believes he has suffered a similar fate, and hopes to return to his own dimension before this happens: it would not do for the spiritual head of Russ' Folk to be missing in its hour of need.

  • Age: 5
  • Appearance: A blade of quiet will.
  • Universe: NieR: Automata (after ending E)
  • Personality: Serious and straight-laced. She disapproves of frivolities and needless speculation when there is a goal to be accomplished, and is not inclined to humour people. She is stoic but not emotionless - she simply believes that an android should avoid being overly emotional. She doesn't always practice what she preaches, however.
  • Backstory: A combat android, designed to fight in the war to retake the Earth from an occupying army of extraterrestrial Machine Lifeforms. She completed numerous missions with her partner android 9S, playing a decisive role in the climactic stages of the war.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • Android body: 2B is stronger, faster and more durable than a flesh and blood human. She’s also slightly heavier than a human her size.
    • Anti-machine weaponry: 2B is skilled in the use of various types of weaponry, but enters the tower equipped with:
    • YoRHa combat systems: 2B’s inertial control system lets her wield her weapons with what is functionally short-ranged telekinesis. She can also manipulate her own inertia to make short dashes and dodges.
    • Pod 042: A small hovering box-shaped robot that supplies 2B with ranged firepower and general support. He comes with:
      • Gatling laser: An energy machine-gun. Weak but accurate and rapid-fire.
      • Heavy laser: A powerful beam weapon that takes several seconds to charge before firing and has a long cooldown.
      • Communication suite: Enables radio and point-to-point laser communication.
      • Scanners and sensors: The pod can scan for life signs and analyse machinery and computer systems to some degree.
      • He can also partially support 2B’s weight, allowing her to slow her fall by grabbing hold of his arms.
  • Why have they been picked to climb the Tower: There must always be an android girl in the Tower.

@Ore-O: Sounds good. smile Scaramouche is accepted!

@Stephan Reiken: Looking good, just one question. Err, how big is Yogsothoth?

@Makaioh: Ernesti is accepted!

@Chabal: I'm gonna need max ranges on all his Rune Priest powers. Also, the strongest durability accepted still leaves them vulnerable to explosive weaponry. Finally, because of the nature of the Tower, Fury of the Wolf Spirits has to go, sorry. I can't allow him that kind of summoning ability.

@Little Mako: Yo R Ha No. 2 Type B is accepted!

Accepted characters will be added to the character list. The welcome post for the new characters is here. Enjoy! smile

Ah lets see here.

Here she is

In non-stylized form. Desco is roughly 4 foot 4 inches, taking from this image her tail can extend to about as tall as her body and tail (in a relaxed state, not stretching to attack) so about 8 feet tall.

Mmm, the small details. gotta make some modifications!

Namely this.

  • Tail - While not usually important, Desco's tail can also stretch from the stub on the back of her dress, though not open as yogsothoth's tentacles do, and can be used as a whip-like weapon. She often uses it to make a threatening gesture but rarely ever actually uses it in combat.

And to add this. This might go without saying as most people can act on reflex without thinking about it but I wanted to ensure clarification, that Yogsothoth to Desco is another arm or leg, and that she does use the eyes all over her to some degree.

Well, here're the tabletop ranges (though I think they use a logarithmic scale for "real" distances): 5" (Thunderclap's diameter, though it doesn't need to be centered on him), 6 (Storm Caller's radius), 12 (Wolves range), 18 (Hurricane range), 24 (Tempest radius and extent of Jaws). Lightning says unlimited range, line-of-sight okay?

For the wolves, I'll leave it out if you really want, but I don't see what the tower has to do with it. Or do you mean the wolves being physical units and sticking around? I think they're more of a driveby summon.

Also, can he use lower-intensity powers? As in, if they need to keep something cold, he can make ice without the accompanying ten-billion-ice-needles.

@Stephan: Ah, okay. Then Desco is accepted, modifications included. smile Please see my previous post for the welcome post, and I'll add you to the Active Characters list.

@Chabal: I am going to need the ranges modified for "real" application, I'm afraid. And no, unlimited range with line-of-sight is not okay. You'll have to set a max range. Now, the thing about the Wolves is that the Climbers are effectively cut off from their homeworlds. Hence, Njal will not arrive at the Tower with his link to the netherworld intact, unless you provide a workaround. But yeah, lower intensity is okay, though within reason. Being able to summon lightning does not mean he can create minor zaps or shocks, nor does being able to command air spirits make him capable of air-related tricks like throwing his voice or walking on air.

Well, there's two interpretations concerning Fenrisian casters: either they're asking the spirits of their planet for help and not the Warp (so by that logic, he can't cast spells period), or they're psykers using the same source in a different shape (so he's not actually summoning mythological figures but wolf-shaped Warpstuff that emits loud noises, even if he thinks he's using the former explanation). Seeing as his powers are going to be reduced anyway, most noticeably his personal Perpetual Storm, would that be close enough to being cut off?

Range-wise, some extremely dodgy mathematics and uncertain sources gives 36" ~ 1800m. So: 250m (Thunderclap's diameter, though it doesn't need to be centered on him), 300 (Storm Caller's radius), 600 (Wolves and bolt pistol range), 900 (Hurricane range), 1200 (Tempest radius and extent of Jaws). I'm guessing there's going to be some shifting in the decimal points. As for lightning, I really don't know, I'll go with whatever you think is acceptable.

If your maths make a bolt pistol accurate over the length of five football pitches, you should probably revise your maths.

That would also makes assault/charge range 300m, which is kinda dumb considering the fastest sprinter alive takes ten seconds to cover a third of that.

The source of his powers does produce a significant difficulty. If his powers require either the presence of spirits or the Warp that only exist in his homeverse, then I'm afraid you're going to have to find a workaround of some sort.

Also, I'm having a problem with some of the ranges. If Storm caller has a diameter of 600 metres, that results in a storm that covers 282743 square metres (two hundred and eighty-two thousand, seven hundred and fourty-three m2), which is over 40 football fields. Thunderclap creates a shockwave that affects 49 000 square metres, a total of 7 football fields. Murderous Hurricane having a range of 900 metres means he can blow a hurricane across the length of 18 Olympic-size swimming pools.

...I think this goes without saying, but all of these are entirely unacceptable. Please redo your calculations (or give relative sizes with practical examples).

Also, a small announcement. I've done some number crunching and after removing inactive characters from the active roster, there are 8 open character spaces left. smile I will also close Sign-Ups when the next Challenge starts, but there's still time until then.

  • Name: Veronica Madaraki.
  • Age: Unknown. Again, it's hard to tell with these frankensteins. All that can be said for certain is that she's younger than both Fran and Gavrill, and looks to be in her mid-teens.
  • Appearance: [1], [2], [3]
  • Universe: Franken Fran.
  • Personality: A rather odd mix. Most of the time she is every inch a cold, aloof, ruthless assassin, with absolutely no compunctions about the act of murder and little hesitation about resorting to violence. She considers fighting and killing the sole purpose of her life, and takes enjoyment in her work and satisfaction in a job well done. But despite her violent behavior she isn't particularly cruel or malicious at all, and usually prefers to do her killing as efficiently and cleanly as possible. However, when she ends up in anything resembling normal social interaction she tends to be painfully shy, awkward and nervous. At her core she is lonely and wants nothing quite so much as friendship and acceptance from others, but her twisted mindset and off-putting, antisocial behavior make this difficult to achieve.
  • Backstory: The youngest of Professor Madaraki's "daughters", created to act as a bodyguard and assassin for him during his travels - during this time he was under constant attack from mafia, yakuza, even various governments, and Veronica ended up killing mountains of people in order to protect him. After years of this they eventually parted ways, and Veronica returned to the family home with the intent of killing her "sister" Fran, out of envy at her cushy lifestyle. However, Fran was able to prevent this via installing a Restraining Bolt, and Veronica ended up living with her sister and acting as her bodyguard instead.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • Her entire body is storage space for an assortment of bladed weaponry concealed beneath her skin - swords, knives, scythes, guillotine blades, etc - all of which are wielded with deadly skill and efficiency. She is capable of extending them from her limbs to fight, but can detach them if needed.
    • Due to her undead body she isn't affected by disease or poisons.
    • Her fingers contain hidden needles which can shoot darts and inject venom. She also carries a variety of poisons to enhance her weapons.
    • Strength, speed, durability reflexes and agility all surpass those of a normal human. She can't regenerate, but if damaged her body can be pieced back together.
    • Skilled at stealth and infiltration.
    • Eyes can see infra-red rays, ears can hear high frequency sound.
    • Although she prefers bladed weapons she is also trained in the use of firearms, traps and explosives. Skilled at hand to hand combat, although due to being a walking blender she rarely needs it.
  • Why have they been picked to climb the Tower: She's extremely good at killing whoever and whatever needs killing. And unlike her eldest sister, she's capable of doing so without going berserk and pointlessly slaughtering every innocent bystander in the area and/or her own allies.

I know the distances are way off, I took the range for a heavy stubber (36") and the range given for the gun it's based on (M2 Browning, 1800m, quoth Wikipedia). You could divide everything by 100, it's not like they're going to be given more precisely than melee/yelling/shooting distance.

As for the powers, they tend to carry a lot of amulets, so he could use those as spell foci for his innate power instead of spirits and Warpsorcery.
