I think the argument was that the parody movies had gotten bad because their source material hadn't left them anything but fart jokes.
Fresh-eyed movie blogYes, if the source material already satirizes itself, then the parody can easily slip into Redundant Parody.
Holy Zeus! We made it to 500 pages!
The only other threads that reached that were for My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, The Legend of Korra, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Frozen and the general Disney thread. Quite an impressive circle to be in.

Probably cause this is a show with a TON of legacy to live up to and the debates on whether or not it succeeded. Heck, there was 34 pages worth of discussion before the show began apparently.
Seeing how we're reaching the end, do you all think Ducktales was a pretty good reboot all around? Was it one of the best modern reboots of all time? Is it proof Disney is better at animated cartoon reboots than Cartoon Network is?
My answer would obviously be yes, it really is an amazing reboot and I really do hope some elements of this can be kept on for future Disney projects and Mickey and Friends projects (like HDL having the different personalities, Della existing as a character, and Team Magic being there (granted all three may be wishful thinking at this point but never say never)).
Maybe not the best ever (I don't think I know enough reboots to judge that anyway), but a good reboot, albeit with some startup problems. I'd put it alongside Star Trek TNG in that regard: a show that initially struggled to get out of its predecessor's shadow, but started to come into its own in its second season. Unfortunately, this show has been cut short before it could really get into its prime. Considering that some of TNG's best episodes are post-season three, you can imagine we could have had much more, and greater still, content out of this show.
Optimism is a duty.Apparently, the upcoming live-action / CGI Disney movie Flora & Ulysses features Ben Schwartz, Danny Pudi, Bobby Moynihan and Kate Micucci in various roles. They're really going for a Ducktales reunion.
Man, at this rate they might as well have included David Tennant, Beck Bennett, Toks Olagundoye, and Paget Brewster in that movie too with a Donald Duck voice cameo (provided by Anselmo as usual) being there as well while they were at it.
It doesn't have Tennant... but it has John Kassir, who voices Scrooge in other media.
We have a new episode airing on February 22.

I wonder if we will have another Gyro episode. He kind of dropped off the radar after his last one.
Optimism is a duty. Can't wait to see how Fenton and Gandra are doing after the whole FOWL reveal.
Gyro was mentioned as one of the designers in the escape from the Impossibin episode, and his lightbulbs featured prominently. So he hasn't been forgotten. I do wonder if he'll get at least one more major role in before the show ends, though.
Random: IMHO they should have replaced the villains (Glombold, Ma Beagle, Magica, Beaks) in the drop downs at the end of the season 3 theme song with FOWL agents. It wouldn't have been a spoiler because all agents were already revealed in the S2 finale. Each of the FOWL agents have had more appearances and bigger (and more villainous) roles than Glomgold, Magica, Beaks, and Ma Beagle did (none of whom have had any S3 episode where they were the main villain besides Glomgold in the Penumbra ep where he still wasn't a major focus, and Ma Beagle hasn't even made one single appearance in Season 3 yet. At most her Beagle Boys finally got a cameo in the Christmas Special. I guess Beaks is finally the major villain in the upcoming ep maybe but even then it still has Gandra too)
I don't mean forgotten, but he hasn't made any appearances since. And no, Lil' Helper does not count.
Optimism is a duty.Well I'm sure Gyro will turn up in the series finale with everyone else. And even if Gyro doesn't get anymore major roles this season, at least he ended it off strong with Astro BOYD.
@Snika several of which are Disney related.
Hmm I'm gonna check the KH thread's page count now.
EDIT: yikes, that thread is 11 times as as long!

Yeah, I only checked the Western Animation part, not the rest.
You know, someone did post an interesting theory on why Ducktales didn't get renewed for a season 4 like Star vs here: https://coolchevistianofficialsite.tumblr.com/post/640421213145104384/why-exactly-do-you-think-ducktales-didnt-get-a
Here's the quote for those not wanting a link:
Basically another possibility of the cancellation was corporate restructuring at Disney after the buyout of 21st Century Fox and after this big restructure on streaming at The Walt Disney Company in late fall 2020 thanks to the pandemic well…. that’s another restructure that killed other shows recently it was announced that Just Roll With It will be cancelled after Season 2
So I was right about the show being cancelled because of the season two bomb format, then?
Optimism is a duty.So the bomb format... bombed?
I'll see myself out.
I should point out that the post with the link mentioned it was just a theory, so there is still the possibility that it wasn't the bomb format that caused there to be no renewal for a season four.
It seems plausible enough, though. Sadly, that's often how shows get cancelled: they have a downturn in viewership, and execs see that as a sign of the show doing poorly and won't renew it, even if the wound is self-inflicted.
Optimism is a duty.If it were, why would they retain the format into season 3?
A rash of truly awful 'parody' movies staining the genre's good name didn't help either.
