Omar was born into intense poverty in the slums of Baltimore and soon turned to crime to survive. He quickly developed a strict code of only stealing from deserving targets, which in Baltimore of that era meant drug dealers and the criminal syndicates that backed them up. As a result of years of preying on these groups, he is hated by them and on several occasions is hunted by criminal empires bent on killing him and his entire crew of thieves as revenge for his thefts. (The fact that he's gay and is continually showing up the likes of Avon Barksdale and Marlo Stanfield adds fuel onto the homophobic, testosterone laden fires. Despite the fact that he only targets criminals many cops also despise him because he gets away with many, many crimes that include assaulting, wounding, or on a select few occasions even killing the dealers he targets and thus making the police look bad.

So, in short, a guy who caught between the worlds of criminals and police, who both want to bring him down.

Richard was a WWI sniper who suffered a Facial Horror of a wound on the battle, as half his face and one of his eyes were essentially blown off. This, his time in general on the battlefield and his isolation from people afterward greatly damaged his ability to connect with other people and form any meaningful connections to them. Although he found genuine friendship in fellow WWI veteran turned gangster Jimmy Darmody and became an associate of Darmody's, acting as an assassin on Darmody's behalf began taking a toll on his mental health as he continued struggling with issues of depression and suicidal urges.

Death of the Endless. Despite her Perky Goth attitude and tendencies to act like a Cool Big Sis to anyone she meets, she is death, and her showing a flash of temper makes beings that cause gods to have nightmares crap themselves and beg forgiveness. She's nice as hell, but about as close as you can get to a legitimate ultimate power in the universe, (not least because she can create life just as well as end it) and you don't want to get on her bad side.

I'm going to interpret that as physically strongest/best best in combat, and leave aside deity level reality warpers like Dream and Death to give it to Auron.

Admittedly not the best picture of him, but I'm sure it gets the "not to be fucked with" vibe across.

Since last time I forgot to write a description into my post in time and it got skipped over, I'll try the same one again.

Definitely. Most of the show is about him proving to be a much better person as a ghost than he was while alive.
