Isn't it a bit spurious to put it like that? (Likely yes, because news sites want hits.) There's probably been, like, a dozen scripts for it that have been worked on. I thought there was an earlier "official announcement", even.
The first Bad Boys was one of Bay's more palatable films. Incredibly, I somehow missed the sequel.
The makers of Hot Fuzz couldn't even give copies of Bad Boys 2 away when they were promoting their film, so you're not alone in that.
That's one of my favorite "behind the scenes"(after a fashion) stories. In fact, I'm pretty sure remembering it subconsciously kept me from renting Bad Boys II.
I hate to seem negative, but what's the point of this film? Money? Surely Lawrence and Smith are already loaded?
Believe it or not, for a lot of people making a movie is the greatest joy they have, not seeing it on the big screen. That's what the Ocean's Eleven movies were all about. That, and the money, is the reason why the Transformers movies keep on coming (besides a few vocal individuals). And Christopher Walken always comes up in these conversations, he will do any movie offered to him.

Bad Boys II was sort of Bay's way of trying to make up for and repress the time making Pearl Harbor.
It will also have the only on screen example of rat intercourse:
I'm still not entirely convinced this will happen, but Sony set a release date: February 17th, 2017. Joe Carnahan is the rumored director.
On a side note, I watched Bad Boys II between my last post in this thread and this one. It was either one of the best or worst action films I've ever seen. I honestly cannot decide which. Holy shit.
four-and-a-half years later, Bad Boys For Life is not only coming this Friday, it's being called the best entry in the series.
Considering both of those movies seem to have aged like expired milk aside from that one reaction gif, I'm inclined to believe you.
It's been 3000 years…I have never seen the previous 2, how are they?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I like them, but the second film is relentlessly offensive and vile. It offers excess on a scale heretofore unmentioned in action movies, but little else.
The original, on the other hand, is a straightforward buddy cop movie, and pretty ordinary, yet watchable.
Considering Michael Bay's directing style is a constant agression on the senses, I can see his absence as being a positive.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. He can make some good stuff, such as Pain & Gain where everything's over-the-top for a true crime movie, but I'm glad he didn't direct this.
It's been 3000 years…Pain and Gain is kind of horrifying in how much of a parody of Michael Bay movies it is (as well as how terrible the crimes were). So, good for Michael Bay.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. Its pretty good all things considered

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. It still boggles my mind that they named the third movie in the series "For Life."
Like... that's just not on. You name the fourth one "4 Life." You just... do.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.…Well, obviously they didn’t think they were getting a fourth movie.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. That trailer looks pretty good.
Also maybe rename the thread to just be about the series as a whole.

Bad Boys 3 officially announced by Martin Lawrence.
No matter your feelings on the first two films, there’s just something epic about the Bad Boys franchise and it’s a franchise that is about to get one film bigger as a third film is officially on it’s way. Martin Lawrence made the announcement while appearing on Conan this week, which is news that fans of the franchise have been waiting to hear confirmed for years now.
The official video of the announcement isn’t up yet, as the episode of Conan hasn’t aired yet, but it will be available right here tomorrow morning when the clips from tonight’s episode go live online.
It’s unclear just what Lawrence reveals or if Will Smith is at all involved — or Michael Bay, for that matter — but the bottom line is that Bad Boys 3 is finally happening and things just got real for fans of the series.
