General JRPG topic

I started Valkyria Chronicles. I thought I would get into gawking at the girls, but the gameplay is so fraking engaging, as well as its story.

God, this reeks of Media Vision as well. Sony really wasted their chance and SEGA took it.

25 hours into Lost Odyssey.

Looks like Party Scattering is the theme of this disc. I also haven't found any Dream for a while.

I also spent a long while without any store to buy high level supplies. Fortunately I am well-stocked.

You know you are viced on Valkyria Chronicles when you play the game way past your sleep time.

I currently have over 14 hours on Tales of Symphonia. I'm in Tethe'alla at the moment. I managed to beat Pronyma who gave me a bit of trouble. Now that Colette is back to normal, the main characters can focus on a way to save both Sylvarant and Tethe'alla.

28 hours into Lost Odyssey.

Living Ice lives up to its reputation as That One Boss. It has a powerful field nuke that is somehow faster than item uses. The party fighting it being squishy doesn't help.

After that, the sewer level is a breeze. Sed has two powerful defensive skills that Seth can learn from, so enemies barely does any damage except for Toxin. You can even make Random Encounters even easier by fixing the magic engines. That makes most enemies not move at all.

Finished Disc 3. Now onto the final Disc.

There is a sidequest that includes a Bonus Boss, which is rather easy.

The Ice Magic Beast was roughly the same with Living Ice, but I beat it on the first try thanks to some powerful Rings. Throwing bombs around liberally also helps.

So, I have over 19 hours in Tales of Symphonia. I managed to beat both Yuan and Botta in order to get the Rheiards. IT was no small feat trying to beat those two. They have some pretty strong attacks. Anyways, with the Rheiards, I can go after Rodyle and save Colette.

So, I managed to buy both Grandia and Threads of Fate from the PSN yesterday. I can't wait to try them out.

32 hours into Lost Odyssey

Legacy of the Eastern Tribe is a tricky dungeon. My party has to be split and I have to make do with weaker party members. I also dread when the elemental beasts show up.

The boss of this dungeon is rather easy. It is only dangerous when it almost dies.

So, I've been playing Grandia since yesterday evening and I'm about 4 hours into it. I'm currently on the ship that's headed to the New World. I'm liking the game so far. It's got some charm to it and Justin and Sue are likable protagonists. It's pretty good.

Just beat Berseria. It was my first full play-though of a Tales of game, and I really enjoyed it. The combat system was rocky at first, but I came to really love it.

The demo was awful though, for a newbie to the Tales series. It almost made me not buy the game.

It took me 3 weeks to beat, but it felt shorter, because I only played it on about half of those days, and my game sessions tended to be pretty long. The Tales system of Story > Skits is extremely engrossing.

I want to try and squeeze in another game before the Torna expansion for XB 2 is out.

I'm tossing up between finishing FF X-2 or trying to play Skies of Arcadia, but the second one might be a tad too long to fit in.

Persona 3 would also be an option, because I do really want to play that. But by a factor of 1.5ish it's the longest game on my list.

I wish I could find a single community dedicated to talk about the Neverland (Spectral Souls II, Blazing Souls and the like) franchise. I can't find shit in Reddit.

While working on Blazing Souls, I also started delving into Spectral Force 3 for the X Box 360. It's a good game, a retelling of the events of Spectral Force 2 which managed to come to the West this time. Story has been good so far, but whether that'll keep its rhythym like Spectral Souls II and Blazing Souls did before it, remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, I just reached chapter 10 of Valkyria Chronicles, meaning that if I want a cool achievement, I have to take an A in every mission from now on. I only skipped one Ace due to that being the mission where Alicia has her ankle sprained and she and Welkin are on their own and I don't think two guys can take down a very resilient Shocktrooper with quite the powerful submachine gun.

But given what I did so far, I'm almost thinking of starting the game over again just to see how I'd fare with my current experience.

From this post you can already guess I'm a Strategy RPG and Turn-Based Tactics fan.

What versions of P3 would you be playing? P 3 P only ends up to be about 40 hours total due to the UI and other accessibly changes, Vanilla P3 and P3 FES end up being like 80 hours.

35h45m into Lost Odyssey.

The fight against the Anthrosaurus is tricky, but I managed to beat them after the second try.

Kakanas' tanks are more tricky. Took me 3 tries. The cannon deals too much damage and the tanks are resistant to magic. I had Sed throw stat-boosting items at Seth and Kaim while Sarah and Ming handles healing.

Can you try to post a little more than just progress updates? Like opinions on story developments and the like? Those posts are really not contributing anything to any kind of discussion.

Well, I posted my initial opinion on Spectral Force 3, didn't I?

So, here's an update on my progress in Tales of Symphonia and Grandia.

I have over 26 hours in To S. I managaed to make a pact with Efreet ,the Summon Spirit of Fire and Shadow, the Summon Spirit of Darkness. There's only Summon Spirit left to make a pact with. I also save Kate the Half-Elf from being executed at the coliseum and I also learned that her father is the pope.

As for Grandia, I have over 6 hours so far. I'm currently at the Dom Ruins near the misty forest. I'm really liking the game so far. The battle system is pretty fun and the characters are quite likable and charming. The story isn't deep but it's fun. I can't wait to play some more.

You'll start to have nightmares once you hit Disc 2. Just a big hint.

So, what do you mean I'll have nightmares on Disc 2? Is there a tough boss waiting for me or a disturbing event?

Might be the wrong thread to ask, but here has more people anyway: does anyone here knows a good Kiseki Series fanfic? It can be from any of the Arcs.

@Memers It's FES on the PS 3. I had planned to play FES and then in the future instead of NG+ playing P 3 P, because I've heard there's some significant differences.

I was also planing on using a day guide to get all the Social Links, since I've also heard its harder to do than in 4 or 5.
