So I picked up my copies of the MMPR DVD boxes today.
And I want to slap whoever it was at Manga Entertainment who got the sleeve art for Season 1 & 3 reversed◊.

Sucks obviously that they did that, but I got a chuckle out of your pic.
Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel Episode 14 Still Feat. Sheriff Skyfire
EDIT: Red Ranger: I'm three guys now!
Edited by WolfThunder on Sep 14th 2018 at 9:04:13 AM
The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.Well, Jason did use the powers of a guy who was three in one.
Wake me up at your own risk.So...
Amy Jo Johnson is coming to my local Comic Expo this weekend.
I've been going back on forth on checking out her panel.
I literally know only one other role of her besides Power Rangers, and that's because my brother loved Felicity for some reason.
I never watched Flash Point, so I have no idea how she was in that, and I don't really know what to ask her if I did go.
Still, you don't get many opportunities to meet the original (North American) Pink Ranger and all.
One Strip! One Strip!I am getting really tired of the Victor & Monty schtick in Ninja Steel. It's awful. Way worse than Bulk and Skull could ever hope to be. Like, to get out of a test, the pair eat a bunch of beans and during the test they keep farting. It starts to smell so bad that people want to cancel the test. Then the teacher says she has gas masks for everyone except Victor and Monty, so they have to take the test while smelling their own farts. Then later they fart so hard that they destroy a door. Show some dignity Power Rangers. I sincerely hope we don't have to put up with crap like this in the new season.

Yeah, Ninja Steel gets a bit too childish. Like, I know it's a kids show but other seasons of PR did a lot better.
How is Beast Morphers looking so far?
Wake me up at your own risk. It's not out until February so....
There was charm with Bulk and Skull.
Mileena MadnessIt helped that their actors were great at slapstick, and had a great rapport with each other. Victor and Monty are just very... stilted? They don’t mesh as well as Bulk and Skull did, and their humor is less slapstick and more nonstop toilet jokes.
We know barely anything about Beast Morphers
There's the trailer (which was released in August)
EDIT:And it'll have 22 episodes. Without going into details some people seem convinced they could do all of Go-Busters without needing a Super season if they cut a certain plotline.

I like science fiction.
So what does anyone think of Lost Galaxy and SPD? They're like Star Wars and Men in Black, respectively which I put it in X Meets Y in the Live Action TV Shows section about it.
Power Rangers is a franchise that generally thrives on formula and filler, even the more story heavy seasons don't really need 30+ episodes. The benefit of formula and filler episodes is a sense of normalcy, instead of pushing each episode into a big plot point you can see more into the regular lives of the characters, which in turn lets you see how the big plot points impact them. Some of the better seasons also use the filler episodes to build character relationships. The divergent plotlines that happen with Wes and Eric in Time Force does a lot to define their relationship and reconciliation.
It seems like the more recent seasons have placed more emphasis on formula, as such would probably benefit from shorter seasons per incarnation. The downside is fewer episodes to get accustomed to the actors, but it would be interesting to see them experiment with actors transferring over to newer incarnations like the early years. The very premise of Megaforce would have worked well with the power-switch in principle, although it didn't really work in practice.

I like both. SPD more than Lost Galaxy due to the latter feeling less consistent in what they wanted to do.
How would a power switch have worked for Megaforce's premise.

Blending two series together like that establishes an escalating threat, and would thus encourage the Rangers to search for more ways to fight back. The early seasons regularly gave the Rangers a quest to find a new power/weapon/zord or otherwise solve a current problem, which made the Rangers feel heroic and adaptive to the circumstances. Certainly, it came out of necessity because of dwindling sentai footage, but for the most part they made the effort to explain it through the story. Megaforce didn't do that, weapons and powers were just thrown at them because they had more footage to burn through, and that's why both seasons feel very dull and sanitized.
Do you agree Lost Galaxy is like Star Wars and SPD is like Men in Black.
I can see the similarities between Lost Galaxy and Star Wars (and you're not the first to make that comparison. SPD and Men In Black though? Not seeing much of the similarities tbh.
I think I do see SPD is similar to Men in Black. It's from this video.
Here's how it works:
- Jack = Jay (Both are the main protagonists, are African-American, and worked on a specific job that involves helping people before joining in. Jack being like Robin Hood, Jay being a NYPD officer)
- Sky = Kay (Both are partners of the African-American and are always serious)
- Bridge = Zed (Brunette and intellectual)
- Z = Laurel/Agent Elle (Brunette and worked on a specific job that involves helping people before joining in. Z being like Robin Hood, Laurel/Elle being in a morgue)
- Sydney = Agent Oh (Blonde and work by the book)
- Cruger = Frank (Both are wolf/dog-like aliens)
To an extent, Piggy is like Jeebs; both are alien merchants always being hassled by the protagonists to persuade in giving them information.
Men in Black is primarily about a secret organization trying to maintain The Masquerade, it's not just about a police organization dealing with aliens. Generally speaking if the only similarity is some vague character types it is not really a strong parallel. In contrast Lost Galaxy is a Space Opera in the same vein as Star Wars, while In Space was a Space Opera in the vein of Star Trek.
Although the idea of Jack having to patrol with Sky or Doggie sounds really funny.
Wake me up at your own risk.At least unlike the MIB, SPD doesn't do The Masquerade, and that they let humans know about the aliens, their organization, and most of all, being Power Rangers.
BTW, what does anyone think of Dino Thunder episode, "The Missing Bone"? I put the TV Tropes, And I Must Scream and Berserk Button on that one.
Here's how it goes:
- And I Must Scream: When Hayley found Kira unconscious after the MOTW breaks her free from its control when its done controlling her and woke her up, her first words were "Oh no", revealing Kira is aware of everything that is happening while being mind controlled, but she finds herself unable to do anything about it.
- Berserk Button: Being mind controlled is one for Kira. After Fossilador breaks her free upon being restored, she is immediately filled with rage over what the monster forced her to do.
Kira: Nobody messes with my mind and gets away with it!
How is it funny?
I don’t think I’d call that a berserk button. It never comes up again and the line is more a statement of fact than anything.
Doing the masquerade in PR would be pretty pointless given how public all the battles and destruction is. It would basically be making the entire the universe as dumb as the “there’s no such thing as monsters” lady from Lightspeed.
Edited by windleopard on Oct 6th 2018 at 2:29:06 AM
I think it would be doable but the Sentai would have to do it too - use locations like the quarry more, maybe have the megazord battles take place in a pocket dimension or something.
February 2019, eh?
