The Kickstarter page.

Basically, a bunch of former Way Forward developers formed their own company to develop this retro-styled platformer. Funding it will help them release the game on Wii U and 3DS. 15 dollars nets you download codes for the game later on.

Please, no jokes about shovel-ware. tongue

Look at those stretch goals.

New Game Plus. This is something that I hope they get to, for sure.

Playable Boss Knights. Mega Man should have had that.

Gender Swap Mode. That's for everyone, right? That would be great.

Alright, I'm gonna have to donate.

Just wanted to bump this thread and say that, at 175,000, this is going along nicely. grin Only goal left is the four player mode, and we'll probably reach that.

I love the Order of No Quarter designs; they have the whimsy of the Robot Masters without feeling quite as one-note. Since two of them are going to be playable (up to vote), I was wondering which one struck you guys' fancy?

I personally like King Knight's trumpets (Although they might not be in a playable version. sad) and Propeller Knight's ridiculous hat.

Nice that Wayforward is popular enough for something that branched off it gets funding.

Awww. Looks like they won't be having their Yacht Party.

Still, this looks like a nicely successful Kickstarter. I can't wait to play the game.

Oh hey, I watched the video Two Best Friends (and Woolie) made for this game. It looked tons of fun. I hope it gets four-player battle mode.

Giving the demo to Let's Players was an effective advertising strategy.

Very effective indeed. Or it would be if it didn't come with complaints of "SELL OUT!"

How is that selling out, exactly?

I dunno, ask the haters. evil grin

To be honest, it's probably due to the very act of promoting something that they put their own money for as a favor to a friend. And for some people, "favors" usually mean "shilling their new product" means they can't be transparent about their own views of the game. Someone at the Game Grumps thread in New Media said something like this:

IMO, the problem is with the episodes where the Grumps are paid to play a game is how, for lack of a better term, weird it is. They both act like Flanderized versions of Jon, not to mention that they don't even heap this much praise on games that they consider to be classics on the show. Also worth mentioning is that a lot of the best Grumps humor, in the opinions of quite a few Grump fans I have seen, comes from their jokes about what's happening on screen, but when every other word they say about it is "BEST GAME EVAR OMG", it gives me a bad feeling on the inside.

Also, Arin has stated that he hates traps disguised as treasure chests, but he never says a word about the treasure-trap that shows up here.

I then said that the Grumps paid money out of their own pocket to donate to this project and that some of this was justified by them helping out a friend who happens to be an indie dev. He responded that he'll accept that claim, but with a grain of salt.

Really, in the end, some people are just concerned about someone like the Grumps' honesty about the game and that they weren't providing a balanced look at the game by virtue of it being done as a favor for a friend, which apparently has its own set of problems outside of selling out.

4 player mode get.

Only thing left is the "??? More mystery stuff!" tier. Which means, likely, even the devs don't know what it is exactly.

It says inspired partly by Dark Souls, but looking at it I see way more Demon's Souls. They've got the castle, the lava cave, the tower, the cliffs by the sea, and the plague area.

More tiers got revealed, and we already have a third playable boss knight.

Calling it now: The Enchantress is the Shovel Knight's beloved. Because the damsel isn't shown; also Enchantress is too cute and not nearly evil-looking enough for a main villain. Either she's Brainwashed and Crazy or maybe they had a *serious* falling out and the other knights are allied against Shovel Knight to keep him away because they're all competing for her affection.

[up] If that's true, gender swap mode's going to be even more interesting than I thought it was.

The entire order of no quarter is going to be playable, although only three will have their own quest.

Rock on. Or perhaps dirt on?

So, this sweet Mega Man sendup is going to have an extra occupation as a crazy party battle game. I love it.

Thread seems pretty dead. My hype for the Skullgirls character vote has diminished, so how bout we talk about our Shovel Knight votes?

Propeller Knight is my #1. I like his design and personality, and his play style sounds fun and possibly Luigi-esque, which is definitely a plus in my book. Also, this.

Not sure about my secondary and tertiary. Possibly Polar Knight to round out the light-medium-heavy trio, and somebody who'll have a weird play style just cause.

Also, check out my new(and so far only) work page!

So, sorry to perform necromancy, but I've got a question.

When the survey went out for which version of the game I wanted, I chose Steam.

However, I have since purchased a Wii U. Is there any way for me to go back to my survey and change my answer, or to conact the guys who run this?
