Join Us Saturday, October 12th @ ~8:00PM (US/EDT) Here: http://cytu.be/r/TroperCoven

For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.

For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote  in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.

We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

Holding off on C.O.P.S. one more night to bring forth two recent videos from cRiT1KaL.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, we got gritty Italian murder thrills in Watch Me When I Kill.

(...And after that, sit tight for 40 minutes of reports and discussion about capital punishment and lethal injection!)

This one's been looooong overdue for a revisit (and it can't even wait for Kung Fu Friday).

The legendary (and focal subject of a soon-to-be Hollywood biopic, starring Eddie Murphy) Rudy Ray Moore makes his triumphant return as Dolemite in The Human Tornado ([awesome][awesome][awesome]).

If you could get away with it, you can check out the NSFW trailer again HERE

Otherwise, he's an unbelievable dance scene set to the funkiest 1970's TV gameshow muzak around...

Will be sitting out on this one due to my personal preference of not seeing sequels before the originals.

[up]Dude, it hardly matters. It's not like this movie is picking up anywhere where the original Dolemite left off or anything. This movie is way better than the original, anyway.

Alright, we're kicking things off with the most notorious episode of C.O.P.S., the anti-drug story "The Case of the Lowest Crime." See, kids, drugs are so bad that even the principal antagonists in a cartoon about police and criminals don't want anything to do with the... and they hate them so much that they're even willing to team up with the police to eradicate illegal drugs and trade once and for all.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, get set to revisit Rudy Ray Moore as Dolemite in The Human Tornado...

Tonight we roll out Earth Girls Are Easy, starring Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum, Damon Wayans, Jim Carrey, Michael McKean, and Julie Brown.

That's all I have time to say right now.

Alright, we'll kick off with another episode of C.O.P.S., because why the hell not?

Then, at the top of the coming hour, Jeff Goldblum finds out that Earth Girls Are Easy...

Alright, I'm leaving behind Michael Moore's one attempt at making a narrative film: Canadian Bacon.

United States President Alan Alda attempts to boost his opinion polls by instigating a cold war with Canada. The ensemble cast is ridiculous

Tonight, we'll be having Canadian Bacon for dinner.

But we start it off with an appetizer in the form of some Super Mario and their quest for pizza.

Oh, HO-OH-HOOOOooooooooooo...

Tonight for Kung Fu Friday, after several long years of waiting (at least, I've been waiting for an opportunity to enjoy this one), we finally get to set our eyes on Mr. No Legs...

Oh, HO-OH-HOOOOooooooooo...

It's time to kick off Kung Fu Friday with another episode of Takeshi's Castle.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, we're introduced to Mr. No Legs.

I saw Pokemon: Detective Pikachu at a 10:15pm showing.

Well, it was interesting. I liked it; in fact, I'd say it picked up as it went along, which is good since at first, it was just okay. Which is actually why I'm baffled that one review said it had a "disappointing second half." I disagree; the second half was quite nice, I thought.

The story gets increasingly weird and anime-esque as it goes along. One element in it just felt really bizarre to me. Along with a certain plot twist.

But overall, I liked it. Pikachu himself had a fun personality and stole the show for me. Also, unlike so many movies that have humans interacting with CGI creatures but keep coming up with excuses to avoid focusing on the creatures, this movie really did focus very much on the Pokemon, which is exactly where it should be. Not that the humans aren't important, as they very much are, but there's practically a Pokemon onscreen nearly all the time.

Considering Nintendo's announced plans from a few years back to work on building their franchises outside of their games, with things like a theme park and movies, I hope this succeeds and encourages them to make more.

One review (that I watched after typing this up) said the movie feels like a film based on a YA novel, but with Pokemon added to it. That's a very good way of putting it. Much (but not all) of the story could easily work without the Pokemon (as long as the most plot-relevant ones were replaced with something else), but the Pokemon being there is naturally a big part of the movie.

[up][up][up]I've never heard of that "Mr. Hands" before, and now I wish I hadn't.

Anyway, tonight we revisit the live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe ([awesome][awesome][awesome]), starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, Frank Langella as Skeletor... and that guy who played Principal Strickland in Back to the Future ("Didn't he ever have hair?")

[up]For people who think BlacKkKlansman would make it okay for a white dude to do "the opposite," I suppose.

Anyway, come on in for the latest video review from The Angry Video Game Nerd (In all honesty, I wouldn't be running this here if it wasn't incredibly inspired and just pain incredible).

Then, at the top of the coming hour, we revisit Dolph Lundgren in Masters of the Universe...

Alright, I'm kicking off tonight's pre-show a little early with something "new": The first episode of the surreal early-80's brit-com The Young Ones, following the shenanigans of four undergraduate students in Thatcher's Britian—an "aggressive punk medical student," a "conceited wannabe-anarchist sociology student," an "oppressed paranoid hippie peace studies student," and a "suave, charming would-be mob boss."

Then, at the top of the coming hour, we check out The Rage: Carrie 2...

Alright, tonight, we got three people trapped in an ATM vestibule by some diabolical mastermind dressed like the killer from Urban Legend ([awesome][awesome]). That just about says it all.

This also features Alice Eve, so feel free to repeat whatever jokes everybody was making while we were watching Replicas the other week.

Here comes the aptly titled ATM...
