I prefer Sdrawkcab Alias. Other backwards words are hard to recognize.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.I have a useful mnemonic that might help those people who find it difficult to spell Sdrawkcab — it's "backwards" backwards. The More You Know...
I say make Sdrawkcab Name the supertrope and Sdrawkcab Alias the "used as a pseudonym" subtrope.
(My God, I had to think for a second about how to spell pseudonym! The dictionary people should change it!)
Heh, handy mnemonic. Wonder why nobody else thought of it?
Basically, though that's what we're doing. Sdrawkcab Alias is in YKTTW, and we're just waiting for it to finish. The only real question remaining is whether that's what we should call it. And I say yes to Sdrawkcab Alias. It's a very closely related trope, so the similar names make sense, but "name" vs. "alias" is a pretty clear distinction. I don't think it's going to cause problems, and I think an unrelated name might.
p.s. The Alias discussion looks pretty good, and already has five hats, so it can probably be launched just as soon as we're sure about the name.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. Not a trope, yeah it has been disputed already but that the suggestion was even made is enough for a repeat. Rellik is killer spelled backwards!
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackI launched Sdrawkcab Alias moments ago.
There were more than 800 links to Sdrawkcab Name. Some of these need to point to Sdrawkcab Alias. I have checked all links to Backwards Name, and the A links to Sdrawkcab Name.
We need to check B through Z on this list: Related to Main/SdrawkcabName.
How to check: Take the name ("Amzy") and spell it backwards. If the reversal ("Yzma") is the character's real name In-Universe, then you have a Sdrawkcab Alias. In contrast, if "Waldo" and "Odlaw" are two different characters, or if "Rotiart" is the real name, then you have a Sdrawkcab Name. If there is not enough information, then use Sdrawkcab Name, which is the supertrope.
EDIT: I checked the B links.

Do we need another subtrope for "foreshadowing a character trait through its backwards name"? E.g. having a character called Rotiart show up who turns out to be a traitor. Is that meaningfully distinct from the supertrope Sdrawkcab Name?
Don't think it's necessary.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I checked the C links.
We need to check D through Z on this list: Related to Main/SdrawkcabName.
EDIT: I checked Da through Dm.

I checked Dn through Dz, and E.
- Related to BackwardsName: Done checking.
- Related to SdrawkcabName: Still need to check F to Z.
Okay, okay, but should we keep Alucard the same?
Alucard is a specific sdrawkcab name that shows up often enough in vampire fiction to be a trope of its own. It probably doesn't need a big change.

Rhymes with "Protracted."Kk. Just need to know what are the relations of the three tropes in terms of Super-Trope, Sub-Trope, etc.
Subtrope of Sdrawkcab Name, but only counts as a Sdrawkcab Alias if it's the D-man himself using it (which I think is not that often these days).
Rhymes with "Protracted."Vampire Hunter D, Rosario To Vampire, Hellsing. Not sure about the first two, but the third is confirmed Villain Protagonist. That's just from Anime & Manga!

Clocking.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerIsn't this all done except for wick checking/sorting? Shouldn't it have the little "pending final" orange asterisk?
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. There was talk of a rename.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSupport for that proposition seemed to be negligible. In any case, we really need to finish the wick cleanup/sorting.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Forwards Sdrawkcab Name ?
I checked F.
- Related to BackwardsName: Done checking.
- Related to SdrawkcabName: Still need to check G to Z.
Nothing happened from 14th January 2013 (when I checked E) to 8th April 2013 (today, when I checked F). In the F zone, I only made 2 links to Sdrawkcab Alias (though I also made 1 link to Significant Anagram and 1 link to Alucard).
Thought this discussion was dead. What about Backwards Anagram? Or Semordnilap? (read this page for an explanation. Also this for other such words.
Spelled Backwards?
All decisions are final, I think, at this point. We're merely implementing them—cleaning up the wicks. No valid arguments for a rename have been brought forward, and Sdrawkcab Alias has already been launched.
Sifting through wicks and making sure they point to the appropriate trope. Kernigh just finished 'F' above.

Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. What sort of cleanup needs to be done? This thread wandered quite a bit.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIsn't this taken care of?
The trope's been split; can we take cleanup into another thread? We kind of have a limit on here.
Sdrawckab Alias (and Backwards Alias as a redirect) seem best to me.
Though I have to admit, I got a kick out of Ecila And Bob.
