I have the second game. I really wish that Namco made more Klonoa games that actually got a release outside of Japan.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.I've played a demo of the first game and loved it. I wonder if I should buy it or the Wii remake?
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.You could buy the remake if you like. But I dislike Klonoa's voice in English. He sounds like an adult and it kinda killed his cuteness. The Japanese option is actually the Phantomile language but with mixed Japanese words.
Me and my friends got to be on good terms with the employees who worked at the Gamestop near our college, and when they got to know my tastes a little, they recommended the Wiimake of the first game to me. NO REGRETS. I fell in love with it, and it became one of my favorites on a console that played home to a surprisingly large number of 2-D sidescrolling platformers. (Seriously, the Wii lucked out in Platformerland.) I loved the music, loved the level design, and ended up more invested than I expected in the story.
My hands still cramp up thinking of those Brutal Bonus Levels. I still haven't beaten all of them... maybe it's worth trying again.
My favorite levels are probably the first visit to Jugpot (DEM WATER GRAPHICS... in the Wii version, anyway) and that haunted house level.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaYour so lucky to get a Klonoa game for the GBA in your country. In the US, we only got the first two games (While the remake doesn't count since. It's the same game but with modern graphics and voice acting.) while europe get's a Klonoa Volley Ball game and Japan get's all of the games!

The Klonoa GBA game came out in the US! We didn't lose out on it!
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaThere were 3 Klonoa GBA games. The RPG was only released in Japan, Empire of Dreams has been completely forgotten, and Dream Champ Tournament took years to get across the pond.

Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Pfft, I played the ROM.
It just occurred to me for a while that Antony Del Rio (Pit in Kid Icarus Uprising) could be a great voice for Klonoa.
SUDDENLY A MOVIE ANNOUNCEMENT.

SERIOUSLY CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING!!! AWESOME!!!
It just dawned on me.............. the movie will most likely ''not'' be spoken in the trademark fictional language.
(Realizes that Hitoshi Ariga was the guy who drew the majority of that awesome-looking Klonoa web comic from a few years ago and that Rob Pereyda guy was one of the guys behind that Shifty Look website that was full of Bandai Namco web comics.)
............................................
...I think my heart skipped a beat.
In all seriousness though: Mr. Pereyda, if on the off-chance you're reading this thread, please please PLEASE consider having this movie be a Netflix exclusive.
The movie theater department has apparently gotten so tainted by bad video game movies that big name distributors are having little faith in them. Say what you will about the Ratchet & Clank movie from a few months ago, but I like to think part of the reason it tanked was because it was barely showing anywhere while the showtimes were few and far between, and the (probably) only reason why the Warcraft movie was considered "a hit" is because China loves Warcraft to pieces.
So I implore you and Ariga-san: seriously consider distributing the movie with Netflix!
And also consider getting Antony Del Rio to voice Klonoa. Him or Jeremy Shada, actually.
A cover to celebrate!
Is an official tweet a confirmation that the movie will 100% be made?
Probably?
Assuming that BN is only licensing the property, they have nothing to lose financially on the venture.
I can't wait for it to dramatically fail like the Wii remake and the webcomic!
I miss the Shifty Look comic, dammit. It was actually pretty good and written by Jim Zub, a dude I really like.
Bite your tongue!
Dude, don't tempt the Universe. The Universe will slap you.
Wanting to keep the thread beyond one page, out of all of Klonoa's outfits, which is your favorite?
I'm going with Wii Remake!Outfit as my top favorite with the Blue Zipper outfit (his threads from Lunatea's Veil and beyond) as a close second.
I'm also really liking the jacket he's evidently going to have for his movie, but I'm waiting for a less-sketchy version of that movie announcement picture before having any final thoughts regarding the jacket outfit.
I can't believe I didn't look for this thread earlier! I'm so glad to see other Klonoa fans here!
Since you all already know about the movie, would you please look at my latest addition to the WMG page, "The upcoming movie's plot"? What do you think?
No "Bowser's Fury" questions please. I haven't played it yet.
Hello, I recently go interested in the Klonoa series by Namco. I was wondering if any of your tropers who are fans of the games or at least grew up with the first game for the PS 1 and the second for the PS 2. The Klonoa series has very beautiful music for a level. Like the "Windmill song" and the "Song of Rebirth" from the first game and "The King of Sorrow's" theme and "Stepping Wind Snowy Mountain" from Klonoa 2. Along with very sad moments like the ending to the first game, the death of Klonoa's grandpa while the sequel has "The King of Sorrow" and the ending to the second game.
