Hacked away 65 more wicks from It Gets Worse and caught some to It Got Worse in the crossfire. It's really hard to tell the correct usages from the incorrect ones.

Most of the time, when you have Example: Blahablahblah, It Got Worse, then the pothole at the end is usually a sinkhole.

If it's on a works or work-related page, I'll usually skim parts of the page to see if I can get a little indirect context. But yeah, like said, if it's at the end, you can usually chop it off completely, and nothing of value will be lost.
EDIT: Now sitting at exactly 3950 wicks for It Got Worse. I figured I'd stop on a nice, round number like that.

What Specialist said. If there's context, I've judged from there. Otherwise, it goes and no one seems to miss it.
Also, I'm trying to cut them (or at least not link them) if there's a whole bunch on a page, as per the one link per page guideline. Most pages only seem to have one or two, thankfully. The ones with the most always seem to be, appropriately, the From Bad to Worse subpages.
It Got Worse is currently at 3764 wicks.
It Gets Worse is at 336 wicks.

Did all the Tabletop Games and Video Games I could before burnout.
Dunno why my brain cannot associate the $*#(O$*#% word "sinkhole" with anything other than geology, I swear I had to look it up 5 times before just leaving the tab open. Yet "pothole" was fine, oddly enough.
Sinkholes are so annoying that you can't think of them as anything but geology.

The geological analogy actually works pretty well. A pothole is something small that will catch your attention, while a sinkhole appears out of nowhere and swallows everything that falls into its all-devouring maw.
(I live in the Appalachians. Lots of limestone caves round about. Actual sinkholes are fairly common.)
EDIT: Did some more trimming. Down to 3574 total for both redirects. We've all wiped out over 600 wrong wicks in a little over 24 hours; that's quite impressive.

In one session this morning and another two this evening I've zapped the wicks to both It Gets Worse and It Got Worse on all Literature, Live Action TV, Music, Theatre, Video Games, Webcomics, Web Original, and Western Animation subpages of trope pages, and also all wicks to either on trope subpages for works whose trope lists are too big for one page. (I'd forgotten how irksome it could be if a renamed trope begins with a different letter, necessitating a move to a different subpage.) I've been erring on the side of deleting wicks rather than re-naming them, but not blindly so.
Total is now 3366 wicks between the two. And counting (down).

Have to stop for a bit - think I took out 50 or so. Can't believe the number of usages permeating long-winded anime works pages - what a mess. In most cases, I can chop it out completely without affecting the flow of the sentence.

Apologies for the pedantry, but you missed one on Ashen's main Creator page; since it's a reference to Stuart Ashen mentioning It Got Worse by name, I formatted it as [[FromBadToWorse It Got Worse]]. Seemed the best thing to do.
The Comic Book, Fanwork, Film, Other, Professional Wrestling, and Tabletop Game subpages of trope pages have had their wicks cleared as well (except for some locked pages; the relevant requests have been posted to the appropriate thread), which I think covers most of the remaining medium-specific subpages of trope pages (Anime was taken care of long ago, and I got most of the others yesterday).

Fan Works has a few instances of It Got Worse misuse, but it's locked. First visible example of that is Downfall, where the situation isn't bad to begin with.

I've posted edit requests for the Complete Monster pages which still feature It Got Worse wicks (Fan Works, Film, Live Action TV, and Tabletop Games) to the "Edit request for locked page" thread, so the mods do know about that one.
The U wicks are gone, so that just leaves F through T (except Q). Only 2323 wicks left. More than halfway there now!

Well, the faux-redlinking should slow down the new wicks, if not completely stop them (cf. Did Not Do The Research, which still gets one or two new wicks a week - Self-Demonstrating Wicks?). Any chance of faux-redlinking YMMV and Your Mileage May Vary while we're on the subject?
Back on topic, the Q and X-Z wicks for both It Got Worse and It Gets Worse have been removed or redirected to From Bad to Worse. Yes, they're the four easy letters, but every little helps, eh?
