shocked this wasn't made yet.

so, season 20 just finished & it was great to see the despicable [fake breasts & spoiled, bratty personality] Bad Rachel whine the whole season. [for a college grads, she & her hubby brandon were pretty clueless about the world Dumb Muscle]

made up for the travesty of 2011's Big Brother.

Good Rachel & her Jerkass, Eagle Land military husbad were the most dominant team in the series. had some funny moments too.

And never did, for some reason. Until now. I'm a fan of the show. Have been from the beginning. Love it. Best currently-airing reality show on television, second in overall history only to The Mole. Sure, the show has had its issues, but there's nothing like watching them travel around the world (now in HD), the dreama, and our excellent host, Phil. Last night's episode was another nail-biter with a shocking to-be-continued when one racer lost his passport.

If there's anyone reading who likes the show, heads-up, the new teams have been announced. It looks like a good group, hopefully the season can measure up to last season.

Link appears borked; here's a different one

I like the two express passes thing. I particularly like the "must give one away before the end of the fourth leg" part.

Thanks for that article, the one that I had linked didn't have that info. I don't really have any favorites yet based on the initial cast listing, but then again, I rarely do form strong impressions based on those. Here's hoping that are least some of the teams are reasonably likeable, if not most.

Well, I've never really been allowed to watch until this season. I forced my dad to let me watch after seeing Josh and Brent. (I LOVE The Fabulous Beekman Boys.) I was so glad to see them win!

I am expressing multiple attitudes simultaneously. To which are you referring?

Denied watching The Amazing Race? The most amazing reality show on television, with the most amazing host? Surely that is a parental crime. They may take heart that they finally repented for their sins and allowed you to watch. evil grin

So apparently some people have their panties in a wad over some of the stuff that was shown on the most recent episode of the show— specifically a Communist song and the use of a B52 as a prop. I watched the episode in question, and honestly, I didn't think it was all that offensive. It's a race— they include many aspects of culture and I think they generally do their best to be respectful, but sometimes stuff slips by. Can't please everyone.

[up] That's a Fox News article. Outrage over the silliest things is their modus operandi. They regularly get their panties in a bunch every December over people saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas", going on crazy rants about how it's supposedly offensive to Christians. I wish I was making that up.

Or to put it in TAR terms, you know "KKKendra" back from Season 6? Fox News commentators make her look sane.

Yeah, I know it's FOX News, but apparently the whole thing rubbed at least a few fans the wrong way as well. But, as noted, you can satisfy 'em all.

If there's one thing I've learned about fandoms, it's that you could have 60 minutes of the test signal and still offend somebody. ("That test beep is the exact same pitch as the chronic ringing in my ears!")

Fun fact: There was a short-lived game show in the UK called "Shafted", very clearly as in "ripped off", that got 27 people writing letters complaining about what they thought was a sexual term in the show's title.

well, the old guy finally withdrew from the race.

though coming in first twice in a row while injured proved him as a Determinator

definitely no shame in him withdrawing after that.

he earned his break.

Oh, I completely agree. It was really something how he kept running the race, but he had to look after his health, and as they indicated, if he had kept going any longer than that and not gotten surgery, he could have had serious damage. He was a real trooper.

Right now, I'm rooting for the current leaders, Pam & Winnie, who seem to have pulled themselves together after a few middle-of-the-pack to low finishes and Bates & Anthony also.

Well, apparently the whole thing caused enough controversy to get CBS's attention, because prior to tonight's episode, they aired an apology, apologizing to Vietnam veterans in particular.

man, americans are Sore Loser s huh?

any reference to the one fight they quit (and our allies paid the price) and they act like toddlers.

but they're fine celebrating their own victories and not caring if they offend their former foes (the uk never pass up a chace at ribbing the germans for their 0:2 loss record, even if the discussion was about soccer)

i mean, you could hardly make out the plane wreckage at the memorial. (it's not like they showed the Hanoi Hilton,)

heck, an earlier season had them stop by Auschwitz of all places!

and the kids singing was sweet. we should be happy they don't have a grudge on US (for stuff like mai lai, agent orange, etc)

I have to wonder if the whole Ha-noi Hys-teria breaks the Race Curse. (Heck, they didn't even make a mention of Hurricane Sandy during the Season 21 Finale!)

I am LOVING this season of the Amazing Race (cheese roll anybody??)! I'm rooting for the hockey players to win. Who is everybody rooting for? Any team that's already been eliminated you wish were still in competition? I want to hear!

[up]It's already done.

I liked the Hockey Bros since the beginning.

Crazy how neck & neck it was for the final leg.

To bad the country girls were stuck at the peat swim & drove out of the city for the Circle.

Actually, I felt that the leg was done at the Spy Challenge.

I find it significant that Dave and Conner were interviewed during the Epilogue. I mean, I had them tapped for what I'm calling the Silver Season (#25) presuming Dave's leg healed up, which it's on its way to doing. IMO, the interview clinched their slot on the roster.

Anyway, the chief reason why I wanted Max and Katie (or the Derby Moms, but the 2-parter precluded their winning on Mother's Day) to win would be so that there could be a potential Eric & Danielle style team-up between the Bros and the Country Singers for the Silver Season. So, which team from among the 2nd-7th or 9th placers would you put in the "Silver Season" to join 8th place Dave & Conner?

On that note, Do you think that enough time has elapsed so that a pair of (pre-teen) siblings from Season 8 could be part of the Silver Season?

I was satisfied with the ending as well— honestly, there wasn't anybody left in the finale that I hated or anything, so I would have been satisfied with any result.

Regarding that last question— absolutely! Seems like more than enough time to me, so I can't see any reason why not, as far as it being a possibility.

Personally, I was rooting for the hockey brothers, mostly because I thought it would be a real shame if they did so well in most of the previous legs only to lose at the end.

As for the others, Max struck me as arrogant in the interviews which rubbed me the wrong way, but not enough to make me hate him. Mona & Beth were cool, but I also thought of them as the underdogs (although the underdogs won last season).

So, the next season started on February 23rd with ten teams having previously raced together before and one team that raced before with different people. I, for one, am glad that the twins got eliminated. Anyone have any thoughts about the new season.
