Just one day after the first concept images were revealed, and we're about to get a teaser trailer in time for Onward within the next few weeks or so.
Is this... is this "Boomer: The Movie"?
What is a boomer?
It means "baby boomers", the generation born after WWII. In other words, 50-70 year olds.
They're often stereotyped as being close-minded, resistant to change, do nothing but complain about millenials and their new-founded gadgets, and only talk about how things were better back in their day.
It's a shortened version of "baby boomer" which is defined as "a person born in the years following World War II, when there was a temporary marked increase in the birth rate."
It regained relevance thanks to the "ok boomer" meme, which is used to "dismiss or mock attitudes stereotypically attributed to the baby boomer generation."
The trailer is pretty standard IMO, even if the adult sounding little brother kinda throws it off for me a smidge. That said, there should be another trailer in a few months that's considerably more polished than this one.
Plus, movies by Lord and Miller are notorious (in the most positive meaning of the phrase) for buttering themselves up as laugh riot thrill rides via marketing, only for the actual movies to have some brutal emotional gut punches and plot twists, so I wouldn't take the trailer at face value.

The look of the film kinda reminds me of Sunday Funnies.
EDIT: Oh, the film has a former creative director/writer from Gravity Falls. Interest piqued!

Alex Hirsch is a consultant for the movie.
Oh, that's REALLY cool to hear!
And hey, someone on Twitter noticed an equally cool detail regarding Katie...
She has a pride/rainbow button on her jacket.
Definitely something worth paying attention to and the animation looks gorgeous.
I don't know, the animation is definitely good and it does have impressive talent working on it but it seems to reek of the "Back in my day" mentality that I've grown wary and sick of.
The movie will be released on September 18, 2020, which is the 11th anniversary of Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, which Phil Lord and Chris Miller also worked on.

Connected now comes out October 23.
This was technically announced nearly two weeks ago, but Sony Animation has picked up a project from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg called Bubble on May 1st. This will be one of several adult animated projects that the studio will be developing, as well as the duo's second project to be produced in that format since Sausage Party back in 2016.
The rest of their adult animated projects they have announced so far:
- A reboot of The Boondocks for HBO Max
- Fixed, one of two films Genndy Tartakovsky is developing for the studio, and is slated to be the first R-rated film from the company
- Black Knight, the other film Genndy is working on at SPA
- Agent King, a TV series for Netflix about a fictionalized version of Elvis Presley working as an undercover secret agent
- Hungry Ghosts, another Netflix series based on a graphic novel series by the late Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose
- Superbago, a collaboration between SPA and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios (of Robot Chicken fame) that will be a stop-motion/live-action hybrid (was originally greenlit as a movie before being converted into a TV series last year)

Superbago has my attention. As does Black Knight and Agent King.
Well, hello there! We have a mini-trailer for Wish Dragon!
The story is "a genie-in-a-bottle retelling set in contemporary China", based on an original story by Chris Applehans (who will also direct the film). "The modern-day fairy tale picks up the moral challenges that emerge from the encounter between a boy and a dragon who is able to make wishes come true."

I loved the face the dragon made when he ate that YUMMY food!
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.A bit late, but production on a sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has begun this week.
Michael Rianda talks about the inspiration behind Connected.

A logo for Vivo is out. It also mentions the directors.
On top of that, Sony Animation recently revamped their ENTIRE website sometime this week. It looks really great, if you ask me.
Looks like Sony is going to be heavily doubling down on their commitment towards adult animation, as they announced that more of their films in the next few years will be targeting PG-13 or R ratings. Given that they already put at least four TV shows aimed at mature audiences in development last year (which you can read above), at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they partner up with [adult swim] in the future.
Pretty sure we already knew about that when Genndy Tartakovsky was announced a while back to be doing two mature animated films: Black Knight and Fixed. But hey, good to know regardless!
...Unless Sausage Party 2 ends up happening later down the line.

Bump.
Remember the short film Hair Love?
The family from that short film is getting their own animated show on HBO Max!
Forces like that lie within the power of the public.
Whether or not the average media consumer wants or cares to put in the effort to tell executives that the entertainment industry is currently in a downward spiral is a different stack of needles altogether.
