- 3 seems like the correct version for this name. IMO #1 could be split. #2 could be gracefully merged with The Other Darrin.

When I think Poor Man's Substitute I think #1 is the best fitting. #3 is clearly a distinct trope, but I can't think of a better name than "Wanted Someone Like X, Got X".

I can't say I have any idea for how to fix this trope. In fact, I'm not sure we would lose anything of value by cutting it.
