I'd honestly rather rename it something descriptive like Minigames Ahoy or Minigame Pitstop Town. Final Fantasy VII isn't getting any more recent as a reference.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.I think either one is a terrible name and there are no where close to as many games listed on here as this trope occurs in. Add in only 81 wiks and a paltry 25 inbounds and this trope name isn't working on any level. I think a more comprehensive rename is need.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI thought the same, but I wanted to know first why it had a wrong name.
There are no heroes left in Man.I agree.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I'd just go with something really simple, like Minigame Town. I'd avoid "pitstop" in the name on the theory that it really doesn't add anything to the name (particularly, as the trope page notes, we don't differentiate between the optional and the mandatory areas of the game to qualify).
Also, agreed that this one isn't healthy at all. I can name at least three examples that aren't listed, and I bet that's in part due to the obtuse name.
Interesting to note that Sidetracked by the Gold Saucer is a bit healthier (granted, that one does not require this trope to be in effect, despite the name), but still could use more help. Should we discuss renaming that as well here, or should we start a new thread? (I imagine a simple rename to Sidetracked By The Minigame would suffice).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Minigame Town or Minigame Zone could work (I'm more inclined to Minigame Zone). About Sidetracked by the Gold Saucer I guess it wouldn't hurt to deal with it in this thread too, if it's just a rename what we're going to do.
Absorbed By The Minigames, Addictive Minigame, Minigame Over Game are some new names I think that could replace Sidetracked by the Gold Saucer.
There are no heroes left in Man.I'd say make a separate thread for Sidetracked by the Gold Saucer so it gets a TRS banner and people watching that page get a notification.
Nothing is more frustrating than having a trope you're curating renamed out from under you because you got no notification it was under review.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.I agree with a simple name like Minigame Town or Minigame Area. I dislike the word Zone.
If you want to rename the other trope, Sidetracked By The Minigame is better, since it's less of a change but still very clear.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.Well, since no one is making objections to a rename and it seems there are good reasons for doing that I created an Alternative Names Crowner here.
Add names as you see fit.
There are no heroes left in Man.How the heck did this get by unnoticed for so long when Sidetracked by the Gold Saucer is quoted right in the description?!?
We have no idea, but it's being fixed now.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI think Minigame Zone is a great name and Gold Saucer is a good redirect.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Just to be clear, Sonic the Hedgehog would NOT be the Trope Namer for Minigame Zone, despite the "Zone" in the title. Other tropes that end in "Zone" and are not named after Sonic levels are The Tyson Zone (after Mike Tyson), Warp Zone (Mario), Macro Zone (Mario again), etc.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Callin the crowner after 6 days open, with Minigame Zone the only option in the green at +15 (yeas:19 nays:4); a 4.75 : 1 approval ratio.
Let the scutwork begin...
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.It got renamed, noted in Renamed Tropes and the thread, wiks renamed too. Golden Saucer sent to the the Cut List because we have the correct name, Gold Saucer, as a redirect now. Minigame Area will be added as a redirect too (it's not that bad and Redirects Are Free).
There are no heroes left in Man.
Crown Description:
Well, this may seem stupid, but the amusement park in Final Fantasy VII and "supposed" Trope Namer is actually named Gold Saucer, not "Golden" Saucer. It strikes me that this trope is called "Golden" when other trope related to this one gets the name right, Sidetracked by the Gold Saucer.
So I want to propose a rename to Gold Saucer, that for reasons that I can't get is not even a redirect, unless there are reasons for this trope to be named "Golden" instead of the correct name.
