Ok, we need better names here, clearly.

To me, the Robot Chicken example encapsulates the trope. They had, they thought, a clever idea for an Affectionate Parody of The Golden Girls, but it didn't work as parody because it was no different from what actually happened on the show. None of the names currently in the crowner really seem to capture that. I understand why the current name might seem too broad but those don't work at all.

I'd say "Redundant Parody" covers it. But the YKTTW for RedundantParody, which we're splitting off from this page, has five hats and is ready to launch.

Redundant Parody has five hats. Shall I launch it?

[up]What is that Complaining About Shows You Don't Watch pothole there?

Because it's about delighting in the mockery of a work you've not seen.

All right, launched the Redundant Parody YKTTW.

Remaining steps:

[up]The non-reply part is finished, or must some replies be merged with the main text first?

The YKTTW source has some replies at the bottom. Did you already integrate them into the YKTTW or must someone else do that, deleting the replies while launching?

Oh! Yes, all the replies are integrated into the non-reply section.

All right, Redundant Parody is fully launched. We still need to remove the duplicate examples from Parody Failure and change the wicks.

Spoofed The Ironic Film Seriously has five hats. Think it's good to go?

All right. I "launched" Spoofed the Ironic Film Seriously. We now must

Meanwhile, Spoofed With Their Own Words is up to five hats.

[up] Err, isn't "serious spoofing" = pastisse?

DoktorvonEurotrash Since: Jan, 2001

[up]A pastiche isn't quite the same thing as a spoof. Also, "spoofed it seriously" doesn't imply that the spoof is serious, but that the spoof took the film seriously (even though it wasn't meant to be).

Anyway, thanks for what you've done so far, Routerie!

Created the page, but I don't know on which indexes to put it on.

I remember and old version of the article that mentioned the Weird Al spoof of Devo (by sounding more like a pastiche than a parody) and Family Guy when they showed the Gene Kelly and Jerry Mouse dance from Anchors Aweight with Stewie pasted over (as it don't really changes anything). Which trope will fit these now?

"Dare to be Stupid" actually is a pastiche, though the fandom has the annoying*

habit of saying "style parody" for some unknown reason.

I think that's how Al described it at some point, and the term just stuck.

Bumping this, as no rename seems to have occurred.

Also, it's safe to say that this little hissy fit in the Webcomics section is completely unacceptable, right?

THIS comic, the one referred to directly above, becomes much funnier if one realizes that the previous author either watched the movie so long ago he/she has forgotten the actual screenplay or perhaps never watched it. However, the author of the comic (me) just reviewed the movie and felt compelled to point of the high degree of incorrectosity displayed by the post. And, just as a grammatically incorrect correction of someone's grammar is inherently funny, so too is the framing of this cartoon as a parody fail when it is merely the critic who has missed their mark.

Once we launch all the subtropes, there won't be much left to rename.

Please do so.

What's left to do after that besides the rename?

Did the rename, but we need the launch or scrap the YKTTWs.

These YKTTW need more examples - or a reason to discard them.
