X-Men In General

Go To

This thread's for all of the X-Men comics and spin-offs (X-Force, X-Factor, New Mutants etc.), whether they're decades old or brand new.

  • Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate X-Men, X-Men 2099, X-Men "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
  • X-Men 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Wolverine, Deadpool, Ms. Marvel and Cable.
  • Characters and comics that originated in X-Men and its related books but are no longer connected to the franchise are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.

Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their X-Men related stories here.

Discussions that are only about X-Men adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.

Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

    Original OP
Okay, it seems to me that the thread on "X-Men: Schism" has run its course, and since everyone seems to be commenting on how the conversation is talking about general parts of the franchise, I guess I should start a thread talking about all that.

I have to say that the X Men franchise has been going on for decades. Maybe not as many as the Superman franchise has, but it still has quite a number to it.

One thing I am certain of is that the franchise seems to be subverting Status Quo Is God in recent years. Magneto and Professor Xavier seem to be fading into the background, with Cyclops and Wolverine taking their places. A lot of villains associated to the X-Men have been killed off and have actually stayed dead so far.

All this gives me the general impression that the franchise is trying to reinvent itself. Do you think that's what's going on here?

There was a chart keeping track of the resurrectees; is that still being updated?

I'm pretty sure Wallflower is back. I mean, it's not like she was a precog.

Also, I just realized that Blindfold was possibly Destiny's great-granddaughter. So I hope when they finally lower the "no precogs" rule, both will get to meet the other. That would be so cool.

Tag is back so I assume all the Purifier Massacre victims are, this is on top of Laurie being The Lost Lenore to one of the Five. I just want to see her.

Mammomax was confirmed before her. Mammomax. Chuck Austen created Mammomax!

Binged all the X-Comics released thus far:

  • O MY GOD! THEY KILLED CHARLES! THOSE BASTARDS! But not for long, right?
  • Horrifying way to turn Domino's luck mutation against everyone else. Trap her and use her skin to gain luck powers? How desperate can humans get over mutants?!
  • So Kitty might not be a true blue mutant and ergo, she ain't getting Krakoa. How does she take it? She makes like The Lonely Island and get ON A BOAT, MOTHERF*CKER!
  • So Cannonball married an Imperial Guard named Smasher? I think I love her.

This just in. X-Men #3, Cyclops, Emma Frost and Shaw have been defeated by... three lovely grannies? Do we have the source of this? This is by Hickman? Oh, well. Then it must be awesome... somehow.

They are eco terrorists, have a supervillain group name and defeated some other unimportant mutants before, but I skipped to the interesting part.

I have to say that this week's Excalibur including a mutant message board where ordinary mutants are discussing their opinions on Krakoa, including ones that want to visit temporarily and then return to their normal lives was a neat bit of world-building.

There is, at last, someone who may be Wallflower in this week's New Mutants... but she's only seen from behind, and there are a lot of blonde mutant girls. I wish I had some way of knowing for sure.

Think I spotted Basilisk from Morrison's run, too.

New solo Cable comic by Gerry Duggan and Phil Noto.

I like the creative team, but I'm completely uninterested in the character. At least Hellions looks unusual and weird. Seriously, though, where's the Moira X comic? Where's the one by Leah Williams and Vita Ayala?

Random question:

Is Sublime still a thing, or is that being ignored?

Cause while some random virus pulling the Marvel Universe version of It's me Austin! Xmen! It was me all along!!! is kinda lame, at least it would explain the ridiculous bullshit lengths that humans go to to hate and fear mutants.

I mean that's not acting like marvel citizens don't turn on literally every other hero too every other year or so. Mutants get the brunt of it but marvel citizens hate literally everyone with superpowers most of the time

Yeah. It's a little ridiculous how ungrateful they are sometimes.

I mean, even with Civil War where it was probably fair to be a little pissed at the New Warriors for their screw up, people just completely forgot about Nitro, the one who actually blew up Stamford.

He is, although he did end up teaming up with the X-Men during Brian Wood's run on Adjectiveless X-Men to fight his sister, Arkea. (This was also the story that introduced Jubilee's baby Shogo.)

So that's where Shogo came from....did Jube's actually give birth to him?

I mean, is she his biological mother? Cause considering she was a vampire for a few years I don't know where she found the time...or how old she's supposed to be now...or anything about what's going on with her.

And Sublime teams up with the Xmen to fight a random evil(?) sister?

What did she want to do? Kill mutants with guacamole dip instead of clam dip?

.....nobody's gonna get that one. Nobody.

...I thought humans weren't allowed on Krakoa?

Then again, Scott had no problems giving his dad a Krakoa flower, and Betsy invited Brian to live there.

Still, there are a lot of human members and associates of the Xmen who have been left out (looks at Karima).

I thought they were done with humans and their human shit, with human shit being literally everything connected to humanity.

Shogo’s a child.

It’s rather common sense that they’d be okay with him living there.

What are they gonna do, tell the mother she can’t bring her child with her? That’s a ridiculous thing to think about.
