[up][up][up]Well it's kind of complicated: Sony has a close relationship with many studios that they don't necessarily own.

Pretty much anyone on this list has the potential to get in.

[up]Crash and Spyro are owned by Sierra now, who were purchased by Activision. They'd have to be licensed.

According to the interview, there are going to be stages "based around Playstation classics, like Jak and Daxter".

Precursor Legacy Stage.

Bongo Drum music.

LURKERS.

I'd be... okay with this. Very okay with this.

I have a hunch that this will include exclusively first-party characters, which would mean no Crash Bandicoot or Spyro The Dragon. Which is fine because they are filthy traitors to the cause of the playstation. Kevin Butler would be ashamed.

WAIT DO YOU THINK KEVIN BUTLER COULD BE IN!?

[up]Uhh... What first party characters? Sony doesn't have any first party characters.

Second party characters? Exclusive characters? Characters that have only appeared on their systems?

You know what i mean.

[up][up]You sure about that?

Just so you know, a company has free reign on properties created by a second-party developer. Smash Bros. does it, as does the Capcom Vs Whatever franchise.

Yes. Second party characters are perfect. Still no first party characters in sight though.

[up][up][up]Sony's internal studios include Guerrilla games, Media Molecule, Sucker Punch, Zipper Interactive and Naughty Dog. Those alone give us Killzone, Uncharted, Sly Cooper, SOCOM and Little Big Planet.

These are first-part titles.

I'm going to not bother researching how right or wrong you are, and go back to being rather disinterested in this whole thing.

And yes, that's as bad as it sounds.

...This just made my day.

Ratchet and Clank and Sackboy and Jak and Daxter (okay, maybe not so much Dax...) beating up everything? Yes please. Very yes please.

I guess we could go... wherever we please.

I'm a bit apprehensive. On one hand an Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny is awesome enough but on the other hand there's too wide a range of content maturity to be represented. I doubt Kratos will be allowed to do any dismembering, for example. Many of the characters from darker games may be horribly mangled in the transition.

Yeah, I doubt they'll let you eviscerate Parappa. I'm all for Drake beating up Kratos though.

[up][up]Maybe if they stretch the limit of the T-rating a bit? What about his playable slot in Broken Destiny? He seemed pretty brutal in there despite the lack of blood.

The game plays on a 2D plane according to Paul Gale and will feature a lot of the characters we’ve come to love on the Playstation console such as: Kratos, Sly Cooper, Nathan Drake, Fat Princess, Parappa, Sweet Tooth, and Rico (Killzone).

Rico

ahahahaha.

also lol @ the mynintendonews comments. My favorite is the guy saying the game is obviously going to be a "side-scrolling first person shooter" (... The christ?).

While it may sound like Smash Bros., that's not exactly a bad thing when done right.

[up][up][up] How would a Side-Scrolling FPS even work? Like, what, an FPS where you can only walk forward and backward?

See, it's crap like that that gets cherry-picked as being "representative" of a group of fans.

I always wondered why more games like Smash Bros never came around. I mean, i think there was a Digimon one on the PS 1... And a cruddy Xbox Arcade one... But... Uh... That's all i can think of off the top of my head. Considering it's an incredibly succesful formula and how there was an absurd number of Street Fighter ripoffs, many of which where incredibly good, this surprises me.

Oh and Onimusha Blade Warriors. That one sucked too.

You gotta be thankful that the DS still reads games from other countries, so as long as it isn't a D Si game.
