Rename to Geeky Glasses Plot: Geeky Glasses

Another one of the renames suggested by the cleaning up the glasses tropes discussion, this trope's name is very misleading. By its name this appears to be about glasses that are geeky, but this is actually a specific plot. See also the cleaning up the glasses tropes discussion, the proposed rename of Nerd Glasses, and the YKTTW for a new glasses trope, Smart People Wear Glasses. Any thoughts on this rename, or alternative title suggestions?

(Wow this trope has a bizarre redirect) I support the rename. Possible names: Glasses Dread, Glasses Rejection, Unwanted Glasses Plot.

Adding 'plot' makes good sense.

Arguably, the redirect makes it more clear what this trope is about then the current name does.

Vaguely, maybe, but it's also really misleading. Two Eyes Good Four Eyes Bad, could also mean people without glasses are good and those with glasses are evil. Which is definitely not what this is about.

Oh, it's certainly not good, but it's possible to deduce the meaning of the trope from it. The same can't be said for the current name.

You mean Two Eyes Good Four Eyes Bad isn't a subtrope of Bizarre Alien Biology?

I support the rename. Geeky Glasses Plot is fine, but I think Unwanted Glasses Plot is my favorite so far..

We could always go crazy and make it Unwanted Geeky Glasses Plot.

I'm thinking at this point a crowner for choosing between Geeky Glasses Plot and Unwanted Glasses Plot would be appropriate. Whichever one looses should be a redirect, as they are both perfectly good names.

Oh, and cutlist the whole Two-Four Eyes thing.

Okay, I made a crowner, but I don't know how to connect it to this thread. Can only mods do that? I tried to search for a guide, but there's not really any clear information on setting up crowners.

Yes, only mods can hook crowners to threads. In the future, you can click the holler button (the yellow triangle sign above your post) to ask a mod to hook it.

I accept adding "plot" to a name when we have too, but in this case I think we can have a better name without it.

I'd prefer something like Unwanted Geeky Glasses, Glasses Are Too Geeky, or even I Dont Want Glasses.

Well the main reason for adding plot to the name, is because people were using this for the glasses making characters look like geeks, when it's not about them at all. In fact usually the glasses end up being quite stylish, it's about a character realizing they need glasses and rebelling against it because of their perceptions about glasses making a person (or sometimes just themselves in particular) look like a dork.

Is there a ban on trope names using a dialogue line? If so citation please.

I thought there was only a ban on tropes about lines of dialogue. IE Stock Phrases

While the ban itself is only for when the trope is about that piece of dialogue, the practice used in any circumstances is highly discouraged. (See Fast Eddie's post in the Assimilation Plot over You Will Be Assimilated thread; it's fourth from the top.)

Going to go with Geeky Glasses Plot here just saying "No to glasses" or something similar without detail to why could lead to decay as there could be many reasons like the glasses give the person migraines and such.

No, actually, in YKTTW Eddie has been shooting anything that sounds like dialogue down left and right even if the trope has nothing to do with dialogue or stock phrases.

Well, the voting has seemed to have evened out, and Unwanted Glasses Plot is winning by a considerable margin. Is there a time limit that must be adhered to, or can the name be changed?

Pretty sure that it has to be at least 3 days even with a huge lead.
