Tanzmetall chose a Stock Phrase for his latest episode? Wow! It's exactly what I was hoping for.
Seriously, I was about to PM him about how he might have felt about the latest changes on this wiki and now he pulls this checkmate out of nowhere.
Gentlemen, that's a Crowning Moment Of Awesome right here.

I'm from Piedmont. No relation with Piedmon, mind you!^ Keep it as a redirect for the trope and/or leave that stock-phrase out.
No problem here.
Except visitors would be confused that we changed the name, considering it is used in the video. Not a good fist impression, since that's something a normal wiki doesn't do that often.
If we really want to use noun form for whatever reason, the laziest solution would be to transform "X" to " 'X' Situation," but that's a bit tasteless.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Darn it, I hate it when I accidentally weigh in on some issue or another. I personally don’t have any stake in most discussions about changes to the Wiki, and I would rather stay uninvolved. My job is to show the tropes as they are, not to change them.
But just by existing, Echo Chamber is going to occasionally weigh in on one side of things or another. I want it to be known that this is not my intention. I’m just trying to do the best portrayal of a trope I can with the characters I’ve got.
This script was written weeks ago, and I didn’t even know this discussion was going on when we posted the video.
I have no feelings regarding the proposed changes. The trope you’re looking for is Accidental Hero or Refused the Call. Sorry…
Ok, I'm a bit confused now, Eddie. How listing recurring dialog lines that are not trope titles is supposed to look? A Stock Phrases index whose entries are not phrases?
And Stock Phrases index is not going to be cut?
The state of TV Tropes.Actually, it might be cool to have a Stock Dialog (woops. Stock Phrases) namespace as a subpage for the trope. It could list the lines commonly used to implement the trope.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittySo basically merging a stock phrase with it's related trope and having it be like a Playing With or Trivia tab?
That actually works out really well, though I still think this should be done case by case in the TRS.
Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comCase-by-case is definitely a must, of course, since some tropes may need to pick up new titles.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Case-by-Case should still happen as some Stock Phrases do fit as perfect trope names like What Year Is This? for example.
Wizard Needs Food BadlyThere's this one trope title that I really like (it's one of my pet tropes), but since it reads as a sentence (even though it's not a dialogue trope or a stock phrase), I'm afraid to bring it up in risk of having it brought to the Repair Shop and changed.
But if I don't bring it up, it may be brought to the Repair Shop anyways.
But at least it's clear, concise, and witty.

Wrong place. It's on my Tropers page.
It's The Dog Was the Mastermind * . It's clear (a dog wouldn't be a suspect), concise (pretty easy words, and it's straight to the point) and witty (say that in a dramatic voice).
Please don't hurt it. Tropey the Wonder Dog wouldn't be please. And while you're at it, leave The Butler Did It (-points- "The butler did it!") be also.
I think the page is called Tropes Of Legend.

The Butler Did It is a Trope Of Legend. (Or something like that.)

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Those are descriptions of plots, not dialog. '
If the thing has the word 'I' in it, it is clearly dialog. It is a person speaking a line. In fact, any pronoun identifying the speaker (I, me, my, we, our, etc.) works as an indicator.
edit to add: Also, phrases that clearly have an addressee, like "Do Not Touch the Funnel Cloud". That's dialog.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyRight. The better name for that would be something like Petnamed Weapon.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyPhew.
Petnamed Weapon somehow looks wrong. Pet Named Weapon looks awkward...
This could work:
Get a Hold of Yourself, Man! to Get Ahold Of Yourself Slap, it goes from a line of dialogue to an action.

Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comMaybe Weapon Pet Name
Goal: Clear, Concise and Witty, Those work.
For some reason, all of this renaming is making me less sentimental of all the titles, except a few.
Do you think Set Swords to "Stun" needs a rename? It always amused me, and is a significant improvement over the original. It sounds like a line of dialogue, but that's just for the joke.
Fight smart, not fair.I don't think so. It's concise and witty enough as is. That most people could get the trope without even looking at it.
Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comCome to think of it, "dialog" or "phrase" trope titles, analytically, tend to follow two trends:
- Includes personal pronouns, typically first- or second- person.
- Forms a grammatically complete sentence with a subject, action, and applicable object.
The problem with renaming it now is that since the name is used in the video, visitors may find the rename quite strange.
