In fairness, comic El Diablo was also a gang leader and the gangsters he went after were rivals selling drugs on his turf and refusing to give him a cut of their profits. Both versions are racial stereotypes in some way.

Swan: well in my opinion is because Diablo REALLY sell how much he regret is action and what I liked is that is enterely consistent: he refuse to work with waller, he constantly shit talk the other for being dicks, he kept is power down and when Enchantress try to seduce them he didnt back down, in fact he break the ilusion BY ACEPTING guilty of is action.

Taht is pretty much good atoning, specially most of the time atoners just have a cheap moment of angst or two and then kept buisness as usual.

Is there even a chance for Robin to appear on screen without being aged up?

Probably not. If they used Robin I imagine they'd go for something like how he's depicted in the Arkham games.

Just so long as they didn't make the mistake of Batman Forever where the script pretends Grayson is a teen despite very obviously being played by an adult, of course.

Or like with 20-something Tom Holland playing a 14 year old Peter Parkertongue

So test screenings for Shazam have happened and apparently Superman does have a cameo as rumored, but it's just a Fake Shemp whose face isn't shown.

[up][up] Drat. I wonder if Henry Cavill voices him, though. I really like Superman and Shazam's relationship in the comics, especially First Thunder.

Eh, the only thing it says is that Affleck won't be in that movie because it will show a younger Bruce Wayne. No word about him no longer playing the character in future Justice League movies or so.

So because we don't have a DCEU thread anymore, and the search bar doesn't want to show me where the dark knight thread is, I'll ask this here:

In The Dark Knight Rises Bane is wearing a mask that gives him some kind of pain suppresant, right? This is a substitute for the "Venom" he uses in the comics. Now he has this mask on in every single scene that he's in.

When Batman punches/hooks the mask off of him in their final battle Bane immediately he has to stop and fix the mask.

So apparently Bane is in such chronic agony he needs a constant supply of whatever he's on, and the moment he's off it he's in terrible pain, so he probably needs something pretty heavy.

How on earth was he fighting so efficiently, or is this just a "comic books" type deal where you can be doped out of your mind and still be the deadliest fighter on Earth?

And on a different note, let's look at the first fight between them. Why did Bruce use like two of his gadgets the whole fight? That weird smoke pellet boomerang thing. The light jammer turner-offer. Nothing else. No batarangs.

The answer to both of your questions is "The Dark Knight Rises was a bad movie."

I mean, yeah,k the police charging an army of criminals and Bat-tanks was silly. But I was fascinated with how much I liked Bane's design.

But now I can't get it out of my head that Bane was high as a kite while he and Bruce fought.

It's been a while, but what other gadgets did he have in the trilogy? Like, the launching things on his gauntlets, the bat-summoner... I can't think of many he actually had.

He had that EMP gun that shorted out motorcycles but got shot and apparently never repaired.

There's the sonar system in his mask from TDK. But that got destroyed at the end of that movie.

Between being the choice for Justice League Mortal and working alongside Supes in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. that's some mighty fitting casting. I wonder if that's why he optioned for it again.

Yay and meh respectively. Both in and out of universe, Harley's inclusion dragged the Squad down.

Margot's performance was passable (though her inconsistent accent was... well, inconsistent) but goddamn she was a walking pile of Fridge Logic.

My kneejerk reaction to Gunn is "YES!" but then I have a moment to ponder and I've got this worry in the back of my head. I'm pumped for Gunn, but the fact of the matter is a lot of what sank SS was trying to be like GOTG. Now, maybe this means they can try to be like GOTG but not fuck it up, but I'm just... nervous.

I disagree, while Suicide squad have tons of problems, from the joker to enchantress, I dont see harley as one of it, she was...somewhat fun.

And the thing with the squad is they are edgy, they a bunch of son of bitches who deserved the gun but goes against another guys who also deserved it, I wills aid GOTG got more moments than the squad, but that was warned midding.

I'm of the mindset that Suicide Squad had problems from Day 1, rather than being reshot to be more like Guardians of the Galaxy. We'll probably never know since it'll probably never be released, but something tells me David Ayer's original cut probably wasn't all that great to begin with, despite certainly being more coherent and probably having less Mood Whiplash.

But that's just my hunch after having sat through Bright.

I think I've said this before, but I think the Suicide Squad movie would be better if it just ignored the comic and was a team-up of Batman villains most people actually know. Namely, the ones from the Adam West TV show (except maybe Joker, who is better saved for something more traditional, plus he's less of a team player than the rest). Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, and Mr. Freeze. Maybe Harley too, since she's so popular, and to avoid The Smurfette Principle. I'd much rather see that than anything involving Captain Boomerang.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

The problem is that 1) that's no longer the Suicide Squad then and 2) the movie did ignore the comics. It used some characters that were on the Suicide Squad, but unlike the movie, the Squad is mainly used in black ops missions, you know, missions where everyone is expendable — hence the name "Suicide Squad." I mean, in the comics, their very first mission is infiltrating the foreign nation of Qurac and assassinating Qurac's metahuman team, the Onslaught. That's why people like Deadshot and Captain Boomerang are on the team — not to fight Superman, but to be expendable units sent in to kill or clean up.

Well, according to Dan Olson after he was contacted by some people who worked on the film, the original cut was 4 hours long and had zero flashbacks, portraying all the events that led to the formation of the Squad in chronological order.
