@Zeromaeus In the beginning of the second level of the Shadow DLC, Eggman says "Defense Squad Jackal has already been completely annihilated!" So it can inferred that Shadow killed them all.

Is that all the whole "Shadow killed them" angle had to go on? Couldnt he have just, I dunno, beat them up?

How to not die.

Shadow killing or being drastic in eliminating living things isn't new in the games or adaptations. He even has a line in the pre-Flynn Archie books saying to Eggman "Sonic holds such beliefs. Then again, he's a hero...I'm not."

I don't know where people got this idea that just because he redeemed himself in helping humanity, he became softer or anti-killing. His whole theme song has "obliterating everything that is not your friend", for Pete's sake. He has nobility in him that makes him admirable, that's the difference between him and any other supervillain in the series.

In the context of Forces, he "destroyed" a bunch of mercenaries helping Eggman. He let Infinite alive because he deemed him Not Worth Killing (and to be frank, this is the part that is out-of-character for me, him being prideful enough to not finish a job)

So, I have a theory that might sound stupid. Remember Sonic Ex-treme? That game that was cancelled? Remember that one character planned for it, that never went anywhere named Tiara?

Wasn't the creator of Ex-treme associated with Rise of Lyric? What if, just a theory, what if Percy from Sonic Boom is a planned expy of Tiara? I mean, both are tough as nails girls.

I mean, there's the short version you hear on the title screen, but there is a longer version you hear at the end of the game, right at the tail end of the credits. In Sonic 1 and 2 anyway. It's quite not as long as 7 this version though. Also absent is the sound of a plane taking off in the background.

What's Oo C isn't Shadow leaving a defeated foe alive (that's just practical), it's stopping to shit on that total loser.

A certain Sonic retrospection has made it to the Dimps handheld games.

He just told him "never show yourself again" in less than a minute. If Batman has taught me anything, its that such an action works to strike fear into the supersticious cowardly lot so they'll stop their crimes and spread the word that other mercenaries should beware of the hedgehog that strikes in the night.

It didn't work. Although Infinite was afraid, so, maybe it worked?

Technically he never showed his face again. He just devolved into a petty Omnicidal Maniac when he had even a modicum of self confidence and power.

Gimme loyal Eggman minions who're here for a paycheck. They fight and stall Sonic using Eggman's machines, but they don't care about revenge or genocide or anything, they just wanna be on the winning side given how often Eggman comes close to winning.

Eggman is never on the winning side tho :V

What I meant to ask was: is there anything saying he actually killed them rather than just defeat them prior to the game's events? I thought it was said explicitly at some point, but if we're going off Eggman saying Shadow "annihilated" them, that's nothing.

The game for some reason applies Never Say "Die", and has the squad being rendered "destroyed". Considering's Infinite's attitude, is very clear Shadow killed those suckers off-screen.

It's plain text.

"Annihilated" does not in any way mean killed, especially in a cartoony setting for kids.

Eggman said they were annihilated

Infinite said they were destroyed

They don't appear in the story afterwards

I don't know what to tell you. They're dead.

That's what the Sonic racing games are for. Eggman can win in those!

Not even that, like Dick Dastardly he goes on racing with tricks that only end up costing him the race. He only won a magic carpet, and even then, it was fruitless.

If Eggman wasn't so evil, I would feel pity on the guy. It is hilarious though.

I'm pretty sure they were talking about races outside the campaign.

It's a cartoony setting for kids. "Destroyed" is probably the most non-"death" word you can use.

By that logic, Maria didn't die either.
