At this point, I'm honestly willing to slap Negative Continuity on the Sonic games. Call Backs exist, yeah, but there are too many contradictions if you try to put everything together.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Broad Strokes. Generally the games all happened, but not necessarily the exact way the games portray those events.
Oissu!Or else we're expected to believe Blaze was dropped into an alternate universe and was immediately made their princess.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.My headcanon is that Mephiles was a dick and (for some reason and some method) took Blaze 200 years into Sonic's future to unwittingly help manipulate Silver.
Afterall, Dr. Eggman Nega's claimed that Blaze's family had watched over the Jewelled Scepter for generations, so it's not like Blaze's family popped out of nowhere and retroactively became the region's royalty for generations.
Although you could counter-headcanon that Blaze is adopted.
I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uniI'm convinced that there's some sort of Lost in Translation issue in regards to someone being a Dimensional Traveler or a Time Traveler. They've retconned this sort of thing three times, for no discernible reason.
It's within the realm of possibility; the only reason the Chaos Emeralds are called "emeralds" is because the Japanese language uses the same word for "emerald" as "gemstone".
Yeah, the issue is that Sonic 2006 is a very well crafted game :P
Besides, it has been officially confirmed that Blaze is from another universe (and that Dr. Eggman Nega is from the future...), so something happened to put Blaze in 06.
Yeah I do admit I selectively accept or reject what Word Of God claims, hahah. But This particular claim makes sense with what's in the games themselves (with the exception of Dr. E N...)

This can be reconciled as Blaze temporarily getting shoved into the future for a while and befriending Silver then getting put back in her proper dimension at the end of 06... Kind of... After all there is that "blue hedgehog" line implying she knew Sonic.
Oissu! That's not what that line meant.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Like most of Sonic 06, it's hard to know exactly what was meant by it.
Oissu!Yeah, that was a pun in Japanese that was Lost in Translation. The Japanese word Blaze uses can apparently mean both "blue/green" and "inexperienced."
Also, the Japanese voice cast is pretty good.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! The translations for Sonic games between '99 and '06 were generally not very good.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Apparently...which is good.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Most of the Japanese dialogue tends to mostly on-the-nose and use puns to convey an idea. Maybe they need better localizers? It seems as though that most of the continuity problems is due to mistranslation or poor localization. Not that I hated the localization of most of the games, it just it can be confusing to find out what is and what isn't canon.
"Thanos is a happy guy! Just look at the smile in his face!"Puns are typically very difficult to translate well. It was semi-usual for translations in both directions to give up and translate them literally even though the joke no longer works (like in this case), or make stuff up entirely that typically misses the entire joke (see Wobbuffet / Sonans from Pokemon), though [[creative translations that retain the joke for the new audience are becoming more and more prevalent these days, as anime/manga have become much more of a common media.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. The only I remember Blaze saying "blue hedgehog" in 2006 was right after Mephiles described Sonic's appearance. There, it seemed more like the Japanese "I'm confirming what you said for no reason whatsoever".
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Well there was a reason for it.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.It could also just be that, yeah.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! She was right next to him.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.And Sonic for Hire Season 8 just got announced.
Yay.
On a semi-related and NSFW note:
What if Shadow the Hedgehog's morality system also involved earning Dark points for committing unnecessarily cruel deeds towards enemies? (Such as attacking Black Arms while they're out of health)
And what if Sonic, his friends and Eggman were killed by Black Doom in the Last Story and were subsequently revived by Shadow after the final battle? Alternatively, there could be a Non-Standard Game Over where the heroes get murdered by a horde of Black Arms if the player takes too long to beat Devil Doom.
That.... would be something.
Say, how is it that the Mega Man and Zelda franchises seem able to pull of darker and edgier but Sonic can't outside the Archie comics?
Mega-Man doesn't do that...
And Zelda should be gosh darn self explanatory...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Well there's the Mega Man X games which are pretty dark compared to others.

It is...
Since it literally requires doing 1 thing.
