This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

I don't think they know who Peter is. Which would limit scope for that, and also explains why he was in costume for his coffee shop job. One of the things that goes wrong in the latest version is that they don't understand his history with Felicia, which alerts him to the fact it's not real.
But still... I can see them hinting at that...

Cody Ziglar confirms the big Kamala death debacle was Executive Meddling direct from Kevin Fiege

Boo. For shame.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt's pretty sad and hilarious that Kevin Fiege fought so hard to shut down that kind of meddling from Perlmutter and is now apparently doing the same thing to other people.
He's become the very thing he swore to destroy.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Feige can screw with the comics side of the company? News to me.

The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."There's a cynical part of me that wonders if this is partly why things were leaking like a sieve at that particular point in time.
I imagine a lot of folk on the comics side were not so happy with that steer.
I imagine he's got quite a lot of pull with Marvel in general thanks to his position and successes.
Though I wonder why this had to happen in the Spider-Man comic.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Feige became Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment after Perlmutter was kicked out of the company entirely, and from what I can tell, he stayed in that position for Marvel Comics (with C.B. Cebulski as Editor-in-Chief) even after Marvel Entertainment was dissolved last year (with its various divisions being kicked over to relevant parts of Disney; e.g. Marvel Comics is now an arm of Disney Publishing Worldwide, Marvel Games became a subsidiary of Disney Interactive, etc.).

I imagine the responsibility just got dumped on whoever had room to write it in their books. The X-Writers probably said something like "we're busy with a lot of stuff" and so the buck got put on Wells.
I mean feige said to make her a mutant, but did he tell them to kill her to do that?
And even then, didn't they make her a mutant to be consistent with those coming from the Disney+ show?
Yeah, that's actually a good question. Because if he just asked them to make her a mutant, that's not, like, a crazy or abusive request. It's an incredibly simple and minor change all things considered, considering Kamala - let's face it - already functioned more like an X-Men character than a mutant one.
I guess, as you say, the question is whether Fiege just requested she be made a mutant and the idiotic way it was handled was all on Wells and company, or if Fiege was stupid enough to request it be done in that precise way.
Yes, that was the reason. But as I said, Kamala - like a lot of Nuhumans - was basically a mutant in all but name already.

I wonder how much stuff has been changed around and retconned back in the comics to be consistent with the adaptations to TV and the big screen?
My guess is feige wanted her to be a mutant and have powers more like her mcu counterpart but she still stretches anyway like they could have just said kamala with our better cerebro we detected you are a mutant too and then made her die in the crucible to activate it.
I don't see it. There have been like three X-Men total who got ongoings that ran as long as Ms. Marvel. That's a team book, the characters aren't meant to have their own worlds or supporting casts.
As I read it, Kamala was already in Amazing Spider-Man because she didn't have a solo book running at that point and they genuinely liked her as a character.
So the Spider-Office got some variation of "she's in your story, make this happen".
Ok but like they could have had it be that orchis was secretly making anti mutant tech in Oscar, and she found out and it registered her as a mutant and then she would have to deal with that
There’s still room to side eye Wells’ execution of the idea
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI blame every person even tangentially involved
Wells line in the article has him say akin to the line "Well I got the short end of the straw having to kill her off"
So it looks like killing her off was a specific requested part too.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Belay that booing and "for shame"-ing! And belay that specific requested bit as well!
It seems Deadpoolrocks and immortaleditor were following the money, because according to Cody Ziglar's interviewer, Ziglar didn't say that Feige explicitly asked to kill Kamala. Feige just wanted them to make her a mutant somehow.
So Kamala's offing might have been Wells and Lowe's idea after all.

Feige: Hey, since Kamala's been appearing in your book lately, I'd like if you could set up her mutant status because screw Ike and his Inhuman bullshit.
Wells: Gotcha. Let's murder her!
Feige: Wait, no, I didn't mean...
Wells: [running off] Too late! The almighty Paul demands a blood sacrifice! Death to love and happiness!!!
Feige: ...Eh, whatever. I'm too busy figuring out what the hell to do with Kang after the whole Majors situation.
