Ahh, console video games (or vidcons as I call them). the ultimate medium of expression, able to convey any emotion ranging from hatred to love, loyalty to fear, all in front of our eyes. Ah, and with lovingly crafted art, music, and the ability to control the action, vidcons are the ultimate combination of the high arts. While I tend to play the stoic, I will be the first to admit that vidcons haven driven me to cry, to scream and shout, to feel actual hate; such is the power of this force beyond our wildest reckoning. And here I am, before you, to temp your tongues with the taint of such a tantalizing topic.
And the Japanese, the true geniuses behind the world of video games. Pah, I throw my scorn upon such incompetents of the West who would mock the true art of the Japanese with 'games' such as Baldur's Gate and Madden. Perhaps it is that the West is not as intelligent as the East, but this is a matter for another day. Japan has given us such masterpieces as the Final Fantasy series, Star Ocean, Wild Arms, and of course, Arc the Lad. Yes, some of the finest vidcons in the world were created by Japanese. I come to you today to ask you in all earnesty, what is your favorite vidcon? I will reveal mine after the grand debate has illustriously begun, but not before the first poster falls victim to my plot of discussion.
In other words, this is a thread on an imaginary forum our avatars frequent. The topic can fluctuate, and its mostly just general discussion.
Isn't it obvious? I am your student, Luigi! I can't believe I'm meeting you in person!
Oh, and check THIS out!
(POOOOOF!)
I have a sensei form, just-a-like-a-you!
"Rufi-nichiwa!"[1] I don't recognize the van. I also don't watch TV, so maybe they appear there?
[2] Not that I remember - Phos might've accessed the documentation on them through their terminal, though. On that note, I have found out that they went... to Stefan's homeworld. Thankfully they're on a shuttle in deep space as of now, but they are heading in the right direction...
Morgan, if I had to guess, they're upset about your story and bailed. Do you wanna come along and help talk this out?
Sure, we can RP
"Please do not reproduce this textbook." - S. Banach & A. TarskiWell if the green man's words wasn't enough to convince her, it's pretty much a situation I'm staying out of.
[1] That honestly sounds disturbing, it's like a tree's corpse on top of buried corpses....
Mother nature can be a real endangerment to it's own environments at times, even to frightening levels. aroo.

"Please do not reproduce this textbook." - S. Banach & A. TarskiWhoa, check this out! We've just made another breakthrough in ancient Earth media archaeology today! It's a fully intact novel I found in a mana spring, very close to one of the space shipwrecks!
Incredible! To find a paper novel in pristine condition after 740 years of erosion and weathering is a miracle! Did the mana spring preserve it somehow?
That's my guess too. Hmm... The writing is definitely Sakurajiman, and thankfully it's translated too. "The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and Genius Young Lady". That's a very long title.
Whoa... So this is what humans read back in their ancestral home. Amazing!

I have to ask did they really just allow their ship to drift with all of them in cryosleep during the trip or did they have some primitive program control and maintain the vessel on course?
also oh god something I read

I look to the stars... but that's mostly because there isn't anything else interesting
Hold on, let me check my university notes. Hmm... Let's see... Human History... The Grand Expedition... Ah, here it is. According to what was discovered so far, our ancestors built four generation ships in Earth orbit, designed to contain self-sustaining facilities like artificial farms, greenhouses, and aquifers to last them across space without running out of supplies. The ships' original target was a planet called TRAPPIST-1 e, but a calculation error midway through veered them off-course, drifting through space for thousands of years until they reached Florentia, at the time named Ars Goetia d by our ancestors when they discovered it, by pure chance.
Man, both of my arms are sore from playing the guitar too much. I probably need a break from that for the rest of the day. Mina, you're fine with Mallow, right?
Yes. In the basement with my earbuds, listening to music to drown out the storm noises outside.
"Paldea has a lot of different Pokemon from those in Kitakami." - CarmineI like listening to music in the basement too!
"That was a pointless encounter with a pointless person."[1] Yikes, good luck with the storm. Whatcha listening to, trailer music?
Specifically in the basement?

Not really. Mostly just 80s rock songs, to change things up a bit. Haven't listened to rock music in a while, so this was a nice shift in genre. Trailer music is nice to listen to though.
The palm trees are bending a lot due to the wind outside, it's quite disturbing to see it.

I find it fascinating not just that it's preserved perfectly, but also that you can read it perfectly fine. Because I can tell that language is just Japanese, only a little different from the language spoken in Japan on our version of Earth.
It seems like your society is millenia into the future compared to us, but the language of Sakurajima hasn't shifted that much from that of their ancestors. How did that happen? Is Sakurajiman/Japanese standardized?
(OOC: If you haven't thought out this part of your worldbuilding, I think I have a way to account for Language Drift without retconning this. I can tell you in PMs if you want.)

Got it. My family has a generator, but always be prepared in case that fails as well.

"Paldea has a lot of different Pokemon from those in Kitakami." - Carmine[1] Well that's where my room is.
"That was a pointless encounter with a pointless person."[1] Fair enough. Still, your wording made it sound like that was the only place in the mansion where you could listen to music, or something like that.
"Please do not reproduce this textbook." - S. Banach & A. TarskiI mean... I'm half-Sakurajiman myself and I can understand the language of this novel very perfectly. Aside from some outdated words, not much has changed between Earth Sakurajiman and Florentia Sakurajiman. It also helps that the novel is already translated to English.
I'm just going to Hand Wave that the Japanese language didn't change much over the millennia and is mostly standardized by that point, because Language Drift is a whole different beast that's beyond my scope and I'm not creating another Conlang based on Japanese for the sake of "realism". That's just too much.
(x1)
Fascinating. To have such a strong connection to your heritage — which, I believe, would be over 700 years in the past [[1]] — is a unique thing. The only language that I can think of that has stayed (mostly) consistent for that long would be Latin, and even that one doesn't have native speakers anymore.
To be able to just . . . pick up an ancient artifact and know what it's words say because of your native tongue is something most people throughout history couldn't do. I suppose you live in a very special time.
(OOC: If you want an explanation that isn't just a Hand Wave, here's what I'd do: the rules of the Japanese language were standardized when Florentia was first colonized, and Sakurajima had an institute to lay down these rules that was founded when the country was founded. There are some IRL attempts to standardize language like this (e.g. the Académie Française), and if said attempt was made roughly at the same time the country itself was founded, I could see most people respecting that institution's rules as part of their culture.
Similarly, it'd make sense if young children were taught the language with the same resources that were used centuries ago, so that way they all grow up with the same language. To avoid Language Drift would require a large-scale intentional effort that'd be extremely hard with an IRL country; however, with a space colony where the effort to do so started with the colony itself, it would most likely actually realistically work.
Then again, this is just my idea, and you're free to decide if you want that in your worldbuilding or not.)

Please visit the "AITA" forum gameI will consider that. Thank you.
So since the weather outside Mallow's house is really bad with high winds, I wanted to share this fact that was confirmed 7 years ago. Scientists were able to discover ultraviolet winds surrounding a black hole that were traveling at 200 million km per hour, around 1/5 the speed of light.
Now that's quite scary. I'm assuming any living thing that gets hit by those winds would be instantly killed, right?
An understatement. Vaporized instantly, no traces of the bodies left.
That's why it's safe to be on a planet far away from black holes. As even the Earth's atmosphere would be stripped away by those space winds if it was too close.
Indeed.
Black holes can be quite nightmare-inducing.
"Paldea has a lot of different Pokemon from those in Kitakami." - Carmine
That's... an abyssal void.
My my, so this is what humans call abyssal voids. "Black holes?". Such a bizarre name. If this is what they have, I can't imagine what name they gave to the Abyssal Heart of the Sea of Stars.

[1] Well then, I imagine one hell of an adventure here. Said adventure would involve Phos ending in up in Stefan’s world unannounced, but suffering from the effects you mentioned. Now, it would be up to Morgan to rescue them and return them to their world before they deteriorate. Would such an adventure be a good idea? If so, should these interactions be implied or RP’ed?
Ica, did you teach me or Phos about working with those portals?
Yo buddies, still tropin’?
