Ahh, console video games (or vidcons as I call them). the ultimate medium of expression, able to convey any emotion ranging from hatred to love, loyalty to fear, all in front of our eyes. Ah, and with lovingly crafted art, music, and the ability to control the action, vidcons are the ultimate combination of the high arts. While I tend to play the stoic, I will be the first to admit that vidcons haven driven me to cry, to scream and shout, to feel actual hate; such is the power of this force beyond our wildest reckoning. And here I am, before you, to temp your tongues with the taint of such a tantalizing topic.
And the Japanese, the true geniuses behind the world of video games. Pah, I throw my scorn upon such incompetents of the West who would mock the true art of the Japanese with 'games' such as Baldur's Gate and Madden. Perhaps it is that the West is not as intelligent as the East, but this is a matter for another day. Japan has given us such masterpieces as the Final Fantasy series, Star Ocean, Wild Arms, and of course, Arc the Lad. Yes, some of the finest vidcons in the world were created by Japanese. I come to you today to ask you in all earnesty, what is your favorite vidcon? I will reveal mine after the grand debate has illustriously begun, but not before the first poster falls victim to my plot of discussion.
In other words, this is a thread on an imaginary forum our avatars frequent. The topic can fluctuate, and its mostly just general discussion.
Ahaha... But that's enough about my religious background. If you would like to know more about me, I'm from New London, the capital city of Albion. I'm currently studying overseas at Aurelia University as a geography student, learning about Florentia's landscapes and environments.
Gonna drop the religion topic here because, while I intend Bridget to have a catholic background to flesh out her character, I don't want to derail this thread into a religion discussion or debate.

You know, I’m still raring to beat you up, Joker.
Oh my. Please ease your temper, young one…
Interesting, I’ve flown over there a couple of times, one time I shot down an elite Russo-Chinese squadron, next I bombed some UN/NATO ships, then I sank a massive Anarchist fleet with their own fighters.
Oh yeah Icarus, did you repair Cinnabar’s backpack yet?
OOC: Do I assume that Icarus meeting Cinnabar was implied, Stepex?
Yo buddies, still tropin’?I thought that was the plan, and that Icarus fixed the backpack on the day that Cinn asked for it. Sorry for the misunderstanding
Yeah, I've fixed that, why do you ask?
Cinn would get another backpack, which is designed to have roughly the same functionalities as the old one, but which needs way less maintenance and is designed to be replaceable way more easily, using treated wood, natural rubber and natural fiber filters. The filters would have to be replaced more frequently, but the Gems should be able to make them on their own.
The only part that they probably wouldn't be able to replace is the mercury intake and the circuitry, unless they have a smeltery and a forge somewhere
[1] Hey look! It's those awesome comic book characters again! Momotchi must be lucky to have the thread so eventful today!
Guess if she enjoys a little chaos. A sweet way for spring to start!

Meet the Tamas!◊ Can't let any of those suckers live!
Ah okay, I wanted to double check…
To be honest, it’s lighter than the last one… I like it.
Yo buddies, still tropin’?As I said already, different materials. You should be able to fix up the backpack on your own now, mostly. The only problematic element I see is the circuitry and the metal bits - you Gems don't have smelteries or forges yet, do you?

This studying is draining my energy a lot. I feel very tired and I feel like I'm losing focus. Anyone else having problems with studying?
"My swimsuit fits me well, right?" - CynthiaNot really. I'm already knowledgeable in archaeology so I tend to ace my tests no problem.
It also helps that we take naps often to get some rest in-between because our courses are lenient.
I'm not sure why humans like to focus on studying.
Edited by VintageEmma on Mar 20th 2023 at 5:31:52 AM
Nope, probably because none of us Gems seem to know fire, let alone start one. I feel like that’s Sensei’s thing to know, but considering how he feels around humans, it’s unlikely that he would divulge such knowledge.
As for the materials for the filters, we can get some of the plants we use for most stuff…
Though I’m not sure how the others would react about us keeping some of the materials when it’s needed the most, especially the fibers, where Red Beryl makes our clothes from them.
With all that said, Icarus do you keep records of the universal degrees of every entity that visits these forums? I would like to see if I can enter the universes of Phos, Emma, and SCW, as well as compare my degrees to them.
I’ve also heard of this party for Stefan being on May 7(?) and I would like to know if the three I’ve been chatting here would be compatible to where that party is taking place.
If you need a refresher on what Emma is, see here.
Yo buddies, still tropin’?[1] Not lately though I usually try to put something interesting in the background to help me study. Sometimes it can be fun especially when friends join in.
[3] Might be more of a coincidence but yeah, it's nice. [2] Sorry for the late reply but thanks for the pedals and I appreciate anyone else's birthday wishes for me!
It's gotten a little warmer this afternoon, we had a lot of fun at the place where cherry blossoms bloomed and there was a field of colorful flowers nearby that we walked around! aroo.
Meet the Tamas!◊ Can't let any of those suckers live!Backpack: A goal I'd have for it is design it such that you can maintain it completely independently of me. If you want to, and if Sensei isn't too strong about it, I can teach you some metalworking, and the chemistry involved in rechargeable batteries. I could also try to redesign the backpack once more in order to make even more parts replaceable, but I don't have any idea for a collection mechanism besides electrostatic attraction.
Compatibility:
Phos: the air itself has a higher degree than your homeworld, and breathing it will cause some of the higher-degree compounds to enter your bloodstream. Not safe without a gas mask and stabilization
Emma and SCW: Both safe, with Emma's universe being the higher-degree one. Higher-degree compounds are rarer here, so just don't eat anything and you'll be fine. Though considering the political situation...
As for the degree ordering, gimme a sec, the database query is still running
I can't find the post where I first explained compatibility degrees, and I'm currently looking for it. Maybe I should use actual numbers
Oh right, the party! I've picked out a spot whose compatibility degree should be high enough for everyone here, and it even has a breathable atmosphere with oxygen and without high-degree compounds! I haven't yet managed to determine why it hasn't caused everything to oxidize or where it come from, but for the party, I'd say it's good enough.
Universe degrees, revised: Got some numbers for y'all at last - we're measuring degrees in Ordo. Some of us over at EV also sometimes say "x degrees", which isn't quite correct, but ig it happens
- Stefan's homeworld (2.3 O)
- Morgan's homeworld (2.5 O)
- My homeworld (2.8 O)
- SCW's homeworld (3.4 O)
- Emma's homeworld (3.51 O)
- Rui's homeworld (4.1)
- Gil, Tarvek (4.72 O)
- Gems (5.8 O)
- Tevyat (6.6 O)
- Gensokyo (8.1 O)
- Toons (9.1 O)
For this model, I've decided that integer values would denote that higher-degree universes have potential for a specific new thing. Here are the values:
0- trivial. Literally inaccessible
1- near-trivial, there's basically nothing sentient or living to find here
2- real life - yes, the real life that we live in!
3- Potential for softer sci-fi
4- Potential for hard magic
5- Potential for really soft sci-fi and magic
6- Potential for gods with authority
7- Cosmic intelligence
8- Hitchhiker's Guide levels of craziness
9- Potential for physics-defying fuckery
10- inter-universal nexuses
I'd be happy to make this collaborative, and if you have any comments on a specific universe's degree, or the potentials I've proposed, I'll gladly listen!

"What I don‘t like about measure theory is that you have to say 'almost everywhere' almost everywhere." - Attributed to Kurt Friedrichs
I would like to clarify that Teyvat is the name of a single continent, not the entire universe. The entire universe doesn't really have a name, though, so calling it Teyvat will do.
Project SEKAI's universe (Rui, Mizuki, and Akito's homeworld) would probably be sitting somewhere around a 2-3? Maybe 4 if SEKAI is really weird. It's the real world, except with Hatsune Miku phone worlds. That is the only difference. I don't know just how much SEKAI would push up the degree tbh
Edited by KitkatKK2 on Mar 20th 2023 at 5:33:39 AM
“You carry the aura of the stars, interesting...”Yeah, I figured. Some of the universe namings in our database are a bit whimsical, like "giant fucking neuron" (the universe is spanned by a singular tree-/neuron-like structure, which somehow doesn't collapse in on itself), "why is it blue" (the first probe probably landed in an ocean or something), and "stupid" (I have no damn idea), so just "Tevyat" isn't an outlier.
Well, SEKAI transports you to a whole different physical space. There's either space contortion happening, or FTL travel, or inter-universal travel, or some kind of thing that only happens in the listener's head. I'd at least rank it at 3.5
Are the bodies of the people who listen to the SEKAI songs still in the "real" world while they listen? And how real does a SEKAI feel?

"What I don‘t like about measure theory is that you have to say 'almost everywhere' almost everywhere." - Attributed to Kurt Friedrichs(x2&1)
Yeah, it would kind of be like calling our whole world "Europa."
Actually, that would be weirder, because the European continent exists in other worlds, too, so that'd just make things even more complicated.
On that note:
Did you just name our whole universe after the two people from it you know?
That's hilarious.
(OOC: I linked to it on Roleplay. Our Avatars Are Posting On A Forum Thread. Link to your old post HERE.)
3- Potential for softer sci-fi
4- Potential for hard magic
(OOC: So, where would hard sci-fi fit in this scale? Out of curiosity.)
(OOC: Girl Genius is a very soft sci-fi setting that's borderline Science Fantasy. It's implied that the source of the Spark is supernatural.)

Please visit the "AITA" forum gameTrue! As for Cookie Run, which I haven't RPed on this thread for a while, it would probably sit around a 5? 5.5? 6, on the high end.Magic definitely exists. Some kind of higher power does exist too, although I wouldn't call the Divine a "god". It's not any kind of personal being. It's been described by Maddie as "Light".
EDIT: As for what the SEKAI is like, it's unclear whether the person's body still exists in the "real" world, but I would lean toward no? It feels like you're in a real place, but in the opening scenes that's different. In those scenes with SEKAI, the experience could be easily mistaken for a dream.
Good to know. I say "continent", but no other landmasses have ever been mentioned to me, so maybe Teyvat is just all that exists on this planet. Inazuma is a little weird by that definition too. Oh well, doesn't really matter.

“You carry the aura of the stars, interesting...”
So this is horrible. Just received the results of one of my exams back, and I did poorly. I scored lower than average for the class. I tried studying so hard for it and it was all for nothing.
"My swimsuit fits me well, right?" - Cynthia[1] Aha, thanks! Hard sci-fi pretty much goes strictly by IRL physics, so sci-fi verses would have a degree of around 2.
Wait, I just realized that I forgot Rui's homeworld. Updated
Also note that I've adjusted Girl Genius

"What I don‘t like about measure theory is that you have to say 'almost everywhere' almost everywhere." - Attributed to Kurt Friedrichs[1] Aww, I understand it can be upsetting but you just might have keep your composure and try your best for next time. Maybe the subject matter wasn't in your favor.
Right sis, those exams can be very difficult. I don't believe that studying was for nothing as you still attempted to put some effort. We wish we could you feel better at the moment.

Meet the Tamas!◊ Can't let any of those suckers live!
Thanks. I guess if I didn't study at all my grade would be even worse. But I still wish I could do better.
I also got a below-average score for a recent homework assignment today, so you're not the only one who got broken today. (*sniffle*) At least I had a good dinner, so there's that.
"My swimsuit fits me well, right?" - CynthiaMaybe you two should give each other a nice hug, that might make you feel better.
Yeah babe, a good snuggle with a friend usually helps!

You don’t mind if I add this to the trope page, Stepex?
Yo buddies, still tropin’?
Yeah, that's a good idea. (*Gets to Marnie's place via her Solgaleo's Ultra Wormhole*)
Yeah, a hug will definitely make things better.
(*Hugs and kisses*)
Something like this, right? Because I do feel happier now.
Me too.
"My swimsuit fits me well, right?" - Cynthia(x6)
If it makes you feel any better, I failed some of my exams (not counting the ones I didn't do), yet I'm here alive and well.
(x9)
Well, if you ever want a name for our world that's a bit more descriptive than just two world leaders' names, "Lunatic-Run Asylum" is on the table of possibilities.

: How ya doing, boys and girls, sorry I haven't been here in days, I had other things to do.
: No one missed you, Joker.
: Batsy did.
: No, I didn't. Alfred, I was happy being closed off.
: Master Wayne, this is only a setback. Things will be normal again once you find out where the Joker is. In the meantime, I did invite some others to help bear the burden with you all.
: Holy crap, he is on here.
: JIMBO! How's it hanging?
: Welcome to hell, Jim.
: Holy shit, he does sound like me. Well, either me or Leon.
: HOW THE HELL IS CLARENCE BODDICKER ALIVE?!
: Blame the clown, Reed.
: You say that likes it's a bad thing.
: Really, Alfred, you had to make Reed suffer this too?
: He's not the only one.
: Alfred, I know your heart was in the right place, but Reed, Gordon, and Megius were better off not having to deal with this.
