Another about the plot, it became hilarious once The Sixth Sense came along.
It Was His Sled: Danny isn't the ghost. Hannah, our protagonist, is.
The Scrappy: The Shadow Spirit AKA Future!Danny Anderson is an odd instance in that he isn't particularly odious or insufferable, but many readers cite him as the weakest part of the book. This is due to him being a Plot-Irrelevant Villain who feels shoehorned into a story that didn't really need an antagonist, and he doesn't even provide much of an obstacle to Hannah in the end. His origin reveal also raises more unnecessary questions and comes off as rather silly and out of place for a more sombre, subtly placed plot. The TV episode rectifies this somewhat by giving him more of a presence and making his nihilism a Foil to Hannah's optimistic care for Danny.
