YMMV / Super Mario World (NES)

Go To

  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Miyamoto later stated that he had wanted to implement Yoshi as early as the original Super Mario Bros., but was unable to due to the NES' technical limitations. Not only is Yoshi present here, but also in the NES port of Mario Is Missing! which was officially licensed.
  • Once Original, Now Common: For as much attention as this game receives, unlicensed NES demakes of SNES games (or higher) were actually ridiculously common in Taiwan and Eastern Europe; aside from this, fellow company Waixing also developed downscaled ports of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and even Resident Evil. Part of the reason this particular bootleg received more attention may be due to its relative accuracy, but even then, other unlicensed games such as Donkey Kong Country 4 also stick rather close to their source material.
  • Porting Disaster: It is an Unlicensed Game, after all. To its' credit, it's actually rather playable for unlicensed standards (even in comparison to some of Hummer Team's other games), only really suffering from momentum issues.
  • Obvious Beta: A more direct example than most, the original Volume 1 release contains all the levels from the completed version unused in its data, in varying stages of completion. Volume 1 ends rather abruptly after the fourth castle with no real conclusion.
