  • Americans Hate Tingle: In the UK they zoomed to Beatles-like levels of popularity in The '70s. In the US they attracted a minor following and some radio airplay but didn't have any hit singles there during that decade. In the wake of Quiet Riot's success covering "Cum On Feel The Noize" they finally reached the US Top 40 with "Run Runaway" and "My Oh My" in 1984, over a decade after the peak of their UK popularity. Related to this is how most Americans have never even heard "Merry Xmas Everybody", which is the Rock Christmas song in the UK (Bruce Springsteen's version of "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" is the rough Transatlantic Equivalent, but still is nowhere near the cultural touchstone in America that Slade's song is across the Atlantic). For added irony, the song was recorded in New York City.
  • Audience-Alienating Era: Generally agreed to have begun with the release of the Nobody's Fools album in 1976, and ended with their appearance at the Reading Festival in 1980. Though the album released slap bang in the middle of their Dork Age, Whatever Happened To Slade, has gone on to be Vindicated by History.
  • Covered Up: "Cum On Feel The Noize" keeps on getting played in the radio all over the world... but only the Quiet Riot version.
  • Signature Song: "Cum On Feel The Noize", "Mama Weer All Crazee Now", and "Merry Xmas Everybody".
