• Cult Classic: Widely regarded as one of the best of the better natural horror films to come out after Jaws.
• Narm Charm: While the core premise is admittedly goofy, it's actually a highly competent, well-made and genuinely eerie horror movie, with some great visuals and interesting touches of surrealism.
• Spiritual Successor: 2017's Boar also revolves around a giant man-eating feral pig on the rampage in the remote Australian outback.
• Tearjerker: The opening scene. You get to see Jake being a charmingly Doting Grandparent to Scottie...and then watch as the big boar rips that all to pieces, ending with Jake wailing in grief and anguish as his house burns to the ground and his grandson's screams of agony echo around him.
• Too Cool to Live: Jake Cullen.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: The animatronic boar, while seldom seen, is very impressive. The few shots using a real hog with prosthetic tusks and hide also match the animatronic perfectly and are very convincing.
