• Dyeing for Your Art: David Argue showed up on set one day with a big patch of his hair shaved, saying it was because his character had ringworm.
• Fake American: The American reporter Beth is played by Australian actress Judy Morris.
• Method Acting: David Argue stayed in character off-set, because he was kicked out of his hotel.
• No Stunt Double: Gregory Harrison did most of his own stunts and took a beating as a result. The worst was when he fell off the windmill, where he dislocated his shoulder and finished the film on painkillers.
• What Could Have Been: Russell Mulcahy originally considered Jeff Bridges for the role of Carl, but producer Hal McElroy thought he had too little international appeal.
