• Retroactive Recognition:
  • Snowy from "That's How Murder Snowballs" is played by Arthur Brough, who would later be best known for playing Mr. Grainger in Are You Being Served?. An Uncredited act pageboy from the same episode is played by Robin Askwith, who would later be best known for playing Timmy Lea in the Confessions of a... Series.
  • Mr. Harper from "Somebody Just Walked Over My Grave" is played by Geoffrey Hughes, who would later be best known for playing Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances and Twiggy in The Royle Family.
  • Mike Hales from "Could You Recognise the Man Again?" is played by Norman Eshley, who would later be best known for playing Jeffrey Fourmile in George & Mildred.

The remake

• The Woobie: Stuart Boyle didn't exactly have a happy life, neglected by an uncaring father and bullied at school for his weight. His only friend, Jeff Randall, often avoided spending time with him to prevent getting a reputation for "the one who hung around with the fat boy", and stood him up on his birthday where his father had let him have free run of the store. Even after lots of painful surgery, Jeff continues to make fat jokes at his expense. It's not hugely surprising that he turns out to be the villain of the episode.
