YMMV / Pinky and Pepper Forever

Go To

  • Adaptation Displacement: Not a lot of people remembered Pinkie Cooper and the Jet Set Pets at the time of the comic's release, given that the toy line was very short-lived, debuting in 2013 and only making it a year while lines such as Monster High and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic were in full swing and overshadowed it. Pinky and Pepper bares basically no resemblance to what the dolls were like beyond the main characters being dogs and the names; even the actual Pinkie Cooper doll used in the comic for the "Final Piece" has been tweaked enough to not be recognizable as part of the line. Many people likely researched the doll line after reading the comic.
  • Alternative Character Interpretation: When Pinky asks if Pepper is "happy to be here", does she mean the dream, or on Earth? With that thought, does Pepper overdose on sleeping pills directly to kill herself, or, in a fit of grief, try to make herself fall asleep faster to see Pinky in the dream again?
  • Colbert Bump: Was this to the original line of dolls; many people who hadn't heard of the dolls didn't realize it was a brand of its own and this is a Darker and Edgier Fan Work.
  • Common Knowledge: The comic is not an official adaptation of the doll line whatsoever, but has been mistaken as one by others who didn't know this. There's little chance a brand aimed at young children would release a comic where the main characters commit suicide and go to hell four years after the line was discontinued.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In this comic, Pinky, who was played by Christina Vee in the toyline webseries, gets a job in hell. A year later, Christina Vee would play a denizen of hell herself.
  • Recurring Fanon Character: Because she wasn't included in the comic, it's not uncommon for fan art of what this comic's version of Ginger Jones would be like. She's often affiliated with Heaven in some way, in contrast to Pinky and Pepper.
