  • Creator's Pet:
    • Josiah in the earlier episodes, Jackson in the latter. Both are unbearably annoying.
    • Josie would be one if she weren't already her mother's favorite.
  • Fan Nickname:
    • "Boob" and "Meech" for Jim Bob and Michelle, respectively.
    • "Planes" for John-David, due to seemingly basing his entire personality on his pilot license.
    • Johannah, Jennifer, and Jordyn-Grace are referred to as "The Lost Girls" due to how little attention they receive from their parents. Jedidah, Jeremiah, Jason, James, Justin, and Jackson are referred to as "The Lost Boys" for the same reason.
    • Jana is often referred to as "Cinder Duggar" due to her being the oldest daughter, not married, and staying home to raise the rest of her siblings.
    • "Bin" for Jessa's husband Ben, since the Duggars' Arkansas accent makes his name sound like they're referring to a bin.
    • "Simple Joe" for Joe, due to his dim-witted nature. "Giggles" for his wife Kendra, since she giggles a lot and comes off as equally dim-witted.
      • Alternatively, “Thicc Daddy Joe,” for his prodigious posterior.
    • "Teen Groom" for Justin, since the most notable thing about him is that he got engaged barely a week after he turned eighteen, and got married three months later.
    • "J'Tyler" for Michelle's nephew Tyler, whom the Duggars have full custody of.
  • Friendly Fandoms: Largely has one with Up TV's Bringing Up Bates due to both shows focusing on Independent Baptist families with 19 children in the South.note
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Jill was originally the favorite of the daughters. Jim Bob even set her up with Derick. Now, she's Persona Non Grata, and is the most secular. Though, one can debate if this excommunication is essentially a bad thing due to how much she's come into her own over the years.
  • Memetic Mutation: John's comment about being a "bachelor to the rapture" during Joy's wedding episode.
    • Michelle's thoughts on evolution being "We didn't come from mush" when they visited the Creation Museum.
    • The family believing that the Earth is 6,000 years old has gotten quite a bit of mileage with snarkers.
