  • Anti-Climax Boss:
    • The last match of Ladder 2.5 is a 6-way last-man-standing match in Blood Prison, a 1-on-1 map.
    • The last match of Ladder 2.0 is a 5-way deathmatch against 4 bots.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: The community recognizes only two games: Nexuiz, the free open-source PC game, and Xonotic. Guess which one was left in the dust.
  • Game-Breaker: The Fireball, which averts Video Game Flamethrowers Suck for once. It launches either a huge fireball in straight line and light an enemy on fire, or release a bouncing fireball which can hurt on contact. There's a reason why in Xonotic it's classified as a Superweapon.
  • Good Bad Bugs/Game-Breaking Bug: Given the right situation, a player cannot win the match if they surpass in a same play the fraglimit.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The Hagar being a Nailgun with splash damage. Sounds exactly like the Super Nailgun.
  • That One Level:
    • Level 12 (2.5): "Strength". You're given every weapon, including the Flamethrower. Good luck trying to avoid the firemines at the narrow passages.
    • Level 27 (2.5): "Egg and bacon". You would think a box full of items would be easy, isn't it? Not even close. The level features several of the game's most spam-friendly weapons (the HLAC, the Crylink, the Hagar, plus the player starts with the Shotgun) and the flags are located above some exposed ledges. Laserjumping won't work, since there's a very high chance you might suicide yourself (remember: in the game's version of CTF your team's frags also count, so it doesn't matter if you did three captures -75 points- if the enemy scored one -25- and did 51 frags for a total of 76 points, they will still win). Oh, and the big health bonus is floating in the center. With the resulting mayhem, your best bet is to just score the highest amount of frags you can. There's a way, though: see the entry text? "Learn how to use the new weapons." One of them is the Grappling Hook, and it sits right next to the Crylink. You better get some good monkey abilities, because that's your best bet to rack up points for your team.
    • Level 28 (2.5): "Racetrack". Especially if you don't know any way to reach the checkpoints before the time expires. You will be spending a lot of time trying to figure out how to beat the timelimit.
    • Level 17 (2.0): "Stormkeep". Six bots. Rocket Arena mutator. The problem mentioned in Damn You, Muscle Memory! in the game page. You explode yourself. You cannot catch the Strength rune before someone gibs you. The Strength area is usually very crowded. Areas next to it are crowded as well. You will curse. A lot.
    • Level 19 (2.0): "Farewell". Same as Level 17, but with the addition of cliffs to fall from. Fortunately, this time you use the regular Rocket Launcher instead of the Laser guided one. Unfortunately, you have 5 bots which will turn your life into a nightmare.
