YMMV / Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed

  • Aluminium Christmas Trees: The game's all-Porsche theme also includes depicting Porsche 911s as the police's choice of car (also in its respective nation's livery). While this may seem unlikely, Real Life Porsche 911 police cars have been popularly used in Germany for high speed pursuits, as well as in rare cases in France.
  • Game-Breaker:
    • Classic Era
      • One of the best of the era is the 1967 911 S Coupe or Targa. Fully upgrade it and you can give the race class 550 Spyder a run for its money.
    • Golden Era
      • The 935/78 Coupe "Moby Dick" is no doubt the fastest and most powerful car in its class. Its only drawback is its 4-speed transmission which prevents the car from reaching its top speed. Nonetheless, you can use them in club races and you can kiss those alleged Classic and Golden era cars goodbye with its sheer performance.
      • The PS1 release has the Le Mans winning 917K. Its high power and low weight allows the car to tear the competition apart.
    • Modern Era
      • The 911 Turbo (996) is no doubt the pinnacle of all the Porsche 911s in the game. With its unmatched speed and acceleration, as well as its capability to turn with little effort, you can blaze through all the Modern Club Races with ease. Fit it with upgrades and enjoy watching this car fly past opponents by a country mile and dominate the competition with flying colors.
      • If not for its brother, the 911 GT3 Cup, despite being a Downloadable Content, is a capable contender allowing to glide through corners with ease than what the aforementioned 996 Turbo can do.
      • The 911 GT1 is a must have in your garage and is one of the fastest Porsches ever offered. Unlike the Moby Dick from above, it sacrifices a bit of top speed for acceleration as well as being a cornering artist thanks to its traction and precise steering. Fine tune the gear ratios and you can blast across the longest straights of Zone Industrielle at over 350 km/h (217 mph).
  • Goddamned Bats: Cops in Factory Driver mode, especially in delivery missions. They'll be happy to intentionally PIT maneuver you and damage the car, causing an irate Dieter to chastise you for your failures.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: The GBA's version of Evolution mode in a nutshell.
  • Older Than They Think: The use of open world in Need for Speed predates Underground 2 by appearing first in PlayStation release of Porsche Unleashed. Though, setting aside the division of the Classic and Tuner era fans of the franchise, the open world implementation in the PlayStation release of Porsche Unleashed is pretty minimal, only being used for optional game modes and a few missions in the Factory Driver mode, while Underground 2 turned it into a core game mechanic, encouraging the player to explore the city to find events, landmarks and being used into special challenges. Ironically enough, this doesn't just extend to the Need for Speed franchise; Eden Studios, the developers of the PlayStation release of Porsche Unleashed, would later expand on the concept of an open wide sandbox in Test Drive Unlimited, two years after the release of Underground 2.
  • That One Level: In the PC release, basically any Factory Driver mission requiring you to pull 360 turns, which may need Some Dexterity Required. If you though this technique used for upcoming missions could get any worse, then wait until Dieter asks you to do 180 turns, reverse slides and more 360 turns, using manual transmission. Good luck trying to pull that one out.
